Stock voltage for Stampedes AND Vulcans is 9 volts (1.5 x 6 = 9).
Another note: 9 volts will get you about 3 darts a second, 12 volts will get you 4 darts a second, and 15 volts will get you 5 darts per second. That's WITHOUT a new spring or added spring.
This is a kinda old video, but you're suppose to expand the o ring not shrink it. If you shrink it, there will be less compression and poor airseal causing lower range and power. If you expand it, the o ring will take up the whole cylinder and not leak any air. I know this because in airsoft, there is this one mod where you expand the o ring with a lighter while the o ring is wrapped around the cylinder so the compression is better and fps increases.

I just bought one of these today to use with my Helghast Cosplay at this year's Supanova in Australia next month lol, just need to find a tutorial on painting it for a "worn metal" look, but at least from this video I know I can safely take it apart!
my daughter had a Nerf Stampede ECS which wasn't working. I had a voltage meter ( Power Fist - corny name ) so I tested all six D cell batteries. They all showed 1.5 volts and better. I then tested them in the battery module but there was no voltage! None. The problem was the plastic separators prevented electrical contact between the batteries so I took them out. It's very hard to do because the screws are non standard: the heads are triangular but I got them out. Then the battery module tested 9 volts and better! I then tightened up the screws and tried the gun. It worked!
What a stupid design! Plastic separators that cost extra to make and extra to assemble. Better not to have them.
So, how did you get the triangle head screws out. I have polygonal screwdriver heads from 8-points to square, so I just barely missed triangle. Simply asking because I am in the same situation your daughter was.
I have a set of jeweler's screwdrivers. I used a small slot screwdriver from the set.

I put a different color dart for the last dart ( so first loaded in the clip ) that way I can see when it is empty
I do it with the last 3 so i know when i should prepare to recharge
I was thinking of finishing my berserker but maybe something like this would be more up my alley. I figure a boffer in one hand and a stampede in the other will make me formidable next nerf war.

I'm planning on doing some of those mods on my Stampede... but what type of spring did you use? In the video you said a K26 was way to heavy, but you didn't identify what spring you got from Home Depot.

just start simple with a springer, this is one of the more complicated ones. if you have trouble with anything i could help you.

MrButtsworth nice man! i modded mine today, but i have the problem where the return spring for the little thing that bumps the catch up is too slow so it never stops firing haha so i need a little stiffer of a spring ;P

MrButtsworth i fixed it :D i put a really stiff spring (main spring in plunger tube) and now it fires fast af and 90 feet flat :D
I used a dremel, not an actual dremel but a cheap one for $40. It took time but it worked
I bought an old stampede of ebay and i didn’t know it was modded similar to this. It’s not working pretty well probably because it has the stock batteries. And I still don’t know if the spring in it is stock

Speaking of the spring, the stretched out 52 is one of the best springs you can use in the stampede. Fits perfectly, has great compression, and pushes out a LOT of force.....of course the recon I sent to you HAS a stretched out 52 in it, so feel free to take it out and play with it! its damn powerful, yet has never caused any problems for my internals (it really does require 1-2 layers of padding however). Just to close, Love the wiring work! its the one thing I ignore in my stampede work.
in the back there are air release holes ,you can seal them up w/

faulty stampedes seep quite common i had one from argos that only hit 25 feet and had about 1 every 2 seconds rate of dart fire, send it back and got it replaced instantly along with an apology from argos!
stampede is actually a lot eaier to mod than the recon for example due to the stampede's components dont pop out and beacuse of its non-reverse design

drac, there is an air release hole in the plunger head, i think. also, u should be carefull when adding a stronger spring. some people have had trouble where the gears get chipped, trying 2 move a heavy spring. also, if u increase the voltage, u get a faster , but weaker motor, so it'll hav a high rate of fire, but less range. it's hard 2 get a good balance.
Don't worry drac once I get a sonic maverick and a stock maverick i will try to make a radioactive maverick just probably without the lads
Have you tried using an RC car battery pack? Similar in price but may be less weight, just modded my Swarmfire to take one, the batt cost is similar ors a little higher depending on what you buy, but I already have several for my RC cars, haven't tested longevity yet.
For me it cost exactly $0.00, i got an old electric drill that had no use and sawed of the part that held the 12v battery in place seperate from the drill, put the handle/battery down the battery hole of the blaster with aligator clips connecting the handle/battery to the gun and voila! :D
I had to use all kinds of bits lol. If i had a proper dremel I would have gotten a utility bit, which carves in no matter what direction. As it happens, I had to take the tray apart, and use any of the different sized bits to increase the tray depth. When you say How much voltage you mean to my stampede? I put in a li-po 11.something volt rc battery. It's not ideal but its what I happen to have left over from a damaged rc aircraft, its lasts ages :)
Milwaukee M12 batteries work great if you have them around. Just throw it in.
@ GKFC Yes, a 12V voltage mod is enough, normally it's about 6V. So its the double power
maybe if u got more in to how to make the radioactive maverick more people will try it
You should put something new. Such as like an Ammo Counter so you know when to stop so you won't dry fire and won't wreck the plunger.

The spring I love to use is actually too strong for 12V of power (reliably that is), so I use something else.....14 Rechargeable AA batteries. 4 packs at wall-mart coast 8$ each (*3) + one charger pack that comes with 2 extra AA's (about 12), totaling out to about 36. its pretty light, reasonably cheap, and pumps out 14.8V's, and recharges (abit very slowly and tediously, its greatest weakness)

What o-ring did you use? Where did you get the second spring you put in it? What are those cylindrical pieces of metal that surround some groups of wires? Cool mod.
Here's a better idea can you turn the stempead into a Halo 4 saw?
U should have put the charger on the shell so u dont have to pull the thing out just plug into the side of gun

why not use a 3s lipo? forget wall chargers, get an imax b6 charger and be done with buying individual chargers.
cast the gear crank out of steel, add a better motor, cast the motor's cranking mechanism out of steel, reinforce the whole gun, and add a 35 volt battery, then just load it with a raider drum and go to town!
I replicated ur radioactive maverick I just never made a vid on it. My friend helped me.
I'm guessing about 6 darts per second, but according to SgNerf, 15-16 volts it where it is most stable. It may not fire as reliably at 18 volts than it does at lower voltage, though.

A word of advice, but I prefer to use the stampede on missions. I love the swarms insane spread, decent ranges, reload-ability and versatility of ammo, but it has a few major problems. Its accuracy beyond 20 feet is terrible....and it can blaze thorough ammo faster than any other primary, and tho it can be reloaded on the fly......it has a fairly slow reload time vs a clip. I carry my swarm fire in a shotgun pouch and use my stampede as a primary (with a blowgun)
Your opponents will be blubbering for mercy once you use that in a Nerf War!!!
i was doing the spring and air restrictor mods to this gun and the piece in the barrel, it kinda flops up and down i assume it used to push the dart into the chamber, the little spring broke on it. do you know what the number is for it so i may buy a new spring?
The small resistor hidden in the batterie terminals inside the blaster... is it safe to remove?

QUESTION!! I did everything in your video but when i pull the trigger it just keeps shooting even when i release it. the only way to make it stop is to disconnect the battery. what should i do?
What charger did he use? It looked like some standard adapter with a fob on the cord. Couldn't recognize it. Any thoughts?
@mrtheesnowmanfrosty yeah i agree. also i dont have a green or clear mav. also i like the red paint he uses but as every one has to have something digrent im usinging several reds and oranges plus a contrasting bomb painted on it.

I remember a few months ago, I popped this thing open to mod it. Took a whole damn hour to do, and when I finally got it open, all the screws inside were stripped. couldn't do anything with it. I......was.......pissed. :(
What happens if you just shove a lipo in this thing? Would it work reliably?
@Gmod1001 You need to have some patience in order to get your commission. Drac's still in college so he doesn't have time to do all the commissions he receives in one day.

I tried to recreate the radioactive maverick but my friend somehow jacked up my wiring and then i lost it when i moved
my night finder uses bulkier darts which make it fire at least 170 feet and it hurts alot espicially cause i made a pen dart

@ClovisKoo I have had patience though, that's the thing, I messaged him two months ago and never got the slightest hint of a response, and all I asked was how much it would cost to get a paintjob on a Maverick.
