This is my attempt at a vigilon mod guide, I mostly just removed the safety features, which I must admit makes the blaster MUCH smoother to use, not having to deal with that annoying slide lock and release button. Now the trigger works double duty.

N-Strike compatible tactical rails could probably be mounted on the sides, giving some flexibility for adding lights and other toys. Secret Strike "panic buttons" could also be intergrated.
I FOUND OUT WHERE THE TINY PICE GOES! So for anyone who wants their blaster complete, the pice goes right up at the front of the blaster. There is one single screw at the top of the front and it screws into the tiny pice. Ok, I just took out the top, front screw and it is indeed the pice. So for any Nerfers out there who don’t know where the pice goes and want it back in, well it basically holds the whole front pice on. Lol. Ps you can only see the little pice when you remove the side with screws in it :D
This is one of beast pistols ive ever seen its got high ranges, power, & no jams i love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Jam occurs when you dont pull the trigger all the way. when you pull the trigger half way it will fire. but if you dont pull it all the way though you have fired a disc the blaster will lock up and you have to pull the jam release. but if you pull the trigger all the way you wont have any problem. Thumbs up so everyone can see !!!
The piece at 3:38 is what the front cover screws into. In the orientation you have your Vigilon currently, it sits in the top left corner. There is a piece on the right side of the shell under the jam release that blocks the sled from moving, you can remove that as well.
Also, I like the prime lock as it lets you know that you need to reload your blaster. I'll keep the Vigilon as a long ranged side arm (for when I go in with a Barricade for my primary.)
3:30 That holds the front screw so the front piece doesn't fall off.
I'm not very familiar with springs, even less so with torsion types, but I can imagine that you could easily double-up the number of torsion springs on the same mechanism, or at least find something additional that would also fit. Any additional torque should provide additional power (provided no other weight changed, any additional spring tension would increase speed, especially without being an air pistol blaster).
Never knew it could fit 7 discs! I was always trying to find a new way to get more darts, and there's a way... :D
you know your badass when you've released a mod guide for something when it hasn't even come out yet.
What about moving the spring on the firing launch arm to get more power? Like drilling a hole farther back and then hooking the spring through the new hole. You may have to strengthen the hole area to keep it from cracking/breaking but it may work. Just an idea.

It seems that the Vortex series is going to be a modder's nightmare. I should probably go ahead and start looking for the necessary springs for once I do manage to get my hands on these...

Haha dude I had a clear piece like that fly out of my praxis and it had a spring on it. could not for the life of my figure out where it went but it works perfect haha
I modded this to hold 10 discs and made it shoot farther
3:33 - That little block is actually what holds the front plate in. If you take it apart again and then screw the front plate on you will see that you are actually screwing it into nothing. Put the block where the end of that screw lands. Look inside the little block for the screw threads and line them up with the front screw hole.
Im a girl, I friggin love this gun. I just got it and im sitting here googling mods for it. Thank you soo much, this is soo interesting. I need to stop fangirling over a plastic gun recomended for 8 years and up. Lol.
@ConservativeBrony97 you posted on mine with a question as to what keeps the dart from falling out, I believe one of those three pieces featured in that slide in my writeup is the slide lock, you can try it but dont quote me on this I am not sure weather or not it is because quite frankly I really see no problem with the slide lock being in the blaster, but you could experiment taking some of those parts out and testing
someone on nerf haven or another big forum will probably know where to get strong torsion springs, but the praxis seems like it's reverse plunger so OMW might make mod kit.

Dude, the slide lock that disables the gun from cocking is what lets you know that you're out of discs so that you don't load up, make yourself a target by popping out to shoot only to aim at someone, fire - and not have a disc come out.

Nerf got smart. I swear 'ricks were made to mod, they're just so easy! But these new blasters, they have learnt from their mistakes. Though i'm sure the worlds best modders will come up with something.
i modded the same gun, but instead of just removing peices i just double wound the spring that pushes the tray (that holds the disk) and it shoots so fast it leaves bruises
And a potato just flew around my room

I haven't had the prime lockup either with my new Vigilon I got for my bday. I've been figuring out how to speed load them. Just take four and put them into the internal mag at once, and put the 5th (and 6th) in underneath the first 4.
@deadist Hell. you could try to make it pump action by using frameworks and add a slide where the spring is located.. It would be hard and not sure if it would work. but it would look really cool! Just ideas! :)
That little part you talked about at 3:32 is the front screw anchor.

@chinesericeboy Correct. As far as the nerf internet community knows so far they dont have much modding potential. Plungers have much potential such as adding springs, taking out the restrictors, rebarreling, and improving the seal.
I actually came up with a good idea to increase the power: Take apart the piece that holds the torsion spring mechanism and rotate the white "sled" piece 360 degrees around (it will be hard to do). That should greatly increase the power so padding might be necessary.
You can, in fact, increase its power without a new spring; there are more screw holes in the arm that you can move the spring to.
dude i would definetly try to stretch out that mousetrap spring. not sure how hard it would be to get in there though... cant wait to see more videos of these
how many other vortex blasters are being sold at stores, is it just the proton and the vigilon?

That little block that came out is just a block to hold a screw on the nose of the blaster. Not super important. In mine i had a little arm with a wheel fall out i wasnt sure how to put back in. Does ok without it i think

the peace that you do not find where it goes is for the tactical rail. You should see a sting pop up from there to. It happened to me too.
that little orange nubin is a screw base off the nose just inside and above where the discs come out.
That is all you can do drac. unless if you move the sled for the disc near the back. But yeah thats all you can do with this serie's of NERF. please respond if agree or disagree.
I figured out a way on how to make the performance of this Vortex gun better. Look at where the anchored down point of the spring is at. All you do is just move the anchored point farther back to increase the tension.
Now that I think about it, magnet could also be used for a speedloader/storage methold, small magnet mind you put into the disk, except the weight might be too much and hurt ranges, it all depends. And again, have a good day, or as FPSRussia would say have nice day.
yeah, sgnerf did that. it puts a lot of stress on the internals though
The dry-fire and trigger "restrictor" thing, was there so you could tell when you had no discs left in your clip without having to physically count as you shot. that way you can concentrate on blasting and know when your gun stops, your out of discs and need to reload. now you will just keep shooting until you notice nothings coming out...

The disk would slow the sled slightly when you fire because of the extra weight, not much though. Also regaurding ranges, couldn't you do the equivilant to streching the
spring, like making it so it's further from it's rest position. But that can be pain to do, so of you want to try that. Also the guy(s) who said try to make a speed loader, I agree. You could possibly use 1 1/2 in. PVC or use some kind of tape or low adhesion bonder. Hope that might give you some ideas. Have a good day Drac.

No infact it takes less tools or glue for vortex due to no plunger system, you don't have to worry about seals or smooth plungers, it's just power.
that little peice goes into the front of the blaster just after the rail piece towards the front of the gun
Oh and you could make a clip mod by getting a pvc pipe that is larger than the inside and then filling the pvc with the discs then put the pvc inside the gun that way you could have a faster reload time instead of putting in the discs one by one
There are three settings for the spring so you can mod the power done it to this gun and the praxis

HA...when I was opening this blaster up to fix it, I couldn't figure out WHERE the safety pegs even went, so I just scraped them....works pretty good now, and I can pull the trigger at any time! defiantly a solid deal.
also it shoots further. and got it for free because it broke on its owner.
Hated sliding out the spring chamber....really annoyed me for 15 minutes X_X

At 3:44 Drac finds a piece that he doesn't know what it does. It is found at the front of the Vigilon and a screw screws into it, kinda useless, it only helps hold the front on.
Wasnt there a small space between the spring and the ammo cage you could have cut out and made it look like it had a grip? ( the spring didnt seem to go all the way straight back.) Nothing to do with performance but maybe it'd look cool? you could even slap on a stock to it. Glue/epoxy or some shize like that. Just ideas!

The piece that fell out of yours goes in the front well first look at the gun from the front see he screw in the front of the blaster well now open it and in the front is the screw hole and behind it goes the thing that fell out its like the nut of the screw but plastic. Is this confusing? If so message me.
@SamStone369 it is probably part of the launch sled that is the only white thing in the blaster. Hope that helped

You could do a clip extension mod to fit like 12 ufo shaped vortex ammo :-D
Putting in LED or laser pointer (or 3 since i re watched Predaors recently ;) would be great...
how about a LED mod to use glow discs?

That piece that fell out is a piece that is screwed into the top front of the blaster
I did not have to completely disassemble the gun. You can get to all safeties with just the side removed. Simply pull back the charging slide to get to the mag safeties...
i was thinking that maybe you could just leave it the way you modded it and attach it to a nerf longshot or any other nerf gun thats long enough to use the vigilon as an attachment at the front of the gun just like you used the maverick in some mods
which would you prefer? The modded proton with its special made clip, or the modded vigilon?

Just bought 2 of these from goodwill and they both won’t pull back so I almost didn’t get them
You should probebly try to somehow cut a hole in the bottom and somehow make it clip fed

Ok so those pieces that you took out? Where exactly are they and how do you take them out. The slide always jams and I am thinking this will fix it

So if the launching mechanism works by slinging off the hole under and inside the disc, I wonder if you can mod the disc with razor blades rim.
the piece is for the front of the gun to hold the screw so the front piece doesnt fall off
this mod is very confusing as you didn't show when you were taking the safety parts out, so i don't have a clue where those two little trigger safety bits went!
OR you can put 6 in then load it then put another disc in and that makes 7! just like drac does in this video!

you can get 7 discs in by putting in 6, priming, then add 1 more

There is a spring which is medium sized, where does it go? Its a spring that is the length of small spring but bigger in size.
Is it normal to have 6 screws left also you should read what it says on the side

I just need a video showing how to reassemble properly after having to disassemble due to a stuck trigger and firing mechanism. Had to manually release the white firing arm as it was stuck in a firing position and not responding to the trigger. I don't even want to mod it, I just want it to work properly. Sigh.

I did this with my "friend". He isn't very careful, like me. he lost 3 screws, 2 disks, and now my blaster isn't that good. Should I make him buy me another one? ;)
