[TUTORIAL] How to power up your Nerf Modulus Stryfe in 4 mins / easy voltage modification
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 29 май 2015
- This modification (for the Modulus Stryfe) requires upgrade batteries like IMRs. Other than that all you need is a screwdriver. NO SOLDERING/REWIRING.
So if you want to avoid the Modulus Stryfe to shut down like in COOP's review, you just need to perform this little trick - disregarding the upgrade batteries!
I am not providing sources to buy the batteries, because if you are not able to find them yourself, consider yourself not ready to do this mod. Please do not forget that you need a SPECIAL CHARGER for the batteries!

MAKE YOUR OWN DUMMY BATTERY
ruclips.net/video/-fM0on1aU-E/видео.html
blastaway.eu If I used 2 IMR batteries, and two dummy batteries, will my motor burn or not ? AndI also can I use ANY BRAND of Imr batteries that is 3.7v ?
Initial VAT if you just use 2 IMRs, you are safe! the brand doesn‘t matter, but you need a special charger. i also made a tutorial on how to make dummy batteries...
blastaway.eu i
blastaway.eu koo
Initial VAT i found li-po batterys on amazon $14 4, that seem like these, do you think they’ll work?
Eventually im going to rewire the whole thing and swap the motors (its just way too expensive right now its a hobby... lmao if i rewired the whole thing id have to spend about $80-100 on all the stuff, i need a new soldering iron, wire etc...)
If i do break it is there a video i can watch on how to solder it or is it straight forward?
For those wondering, it does work on the stryfes with the square looking wire. It is still strongly recommended that you either rewire your blaster or use only 2 IMR's. The demolisher and modulus can run 3 (not 4) IMR's without any modding whatsoever.
@Casper Meijer I don't think it can take a LOT past three volts before it becomes unstable..
are you just able to twist the yellow piece on the thermistor to bypass the problem of using 2 IMRs?
Wait, does this include the modulus demolisher as well?
Where can I find these batteries?
How many volts are each of the batteries
Just so you know for the future, that “thing” that you twist on the thermistor is called a discap.
Thanks so much dude, I’ve been preparing a custom painted + modded stryfe this is what I needed
Lovin' these mods, you're my go to channel for Nerf modding.
TWISTING 2 TIMES MEANS 360° - if you do more, the wire might brake....
blastaway.eu Would this work with Ultrafires?
That is dangerous you need to rewire it with a higher gauge wires so that the wires do not burn up and replace the switch that's a must do please do not listen this is very dangerous to do rewire strife or any other electronic blaster before youput upgraded batteries in it
Omar Aventador yes
Dan Botich higher gauge wire is not necessary unless you use even higher power sources. rewiring is mainly done to raise performance. the more stock wiring you have the less power will reach the motors. dangerous might be improper use of battery sources. your blaster or parts of it won't "explode" - you don't seem to know enough about electronics to give qualified suggestions - no offense!
blastaway.eu Thanks!
I love this it's very easy (only on the "omega" twists
Thanks man, this really helped. Now I can get a fast ROF and high power without even rewiring.
cool! thx for the feedback ^^
+blastaway.eu where do I buy IMR batteries and the charger for them?
@@salt4318 amazon
Rewire?
where can i buy imrs
You reminded me of changing my batteries, thank you
I do know how to solder and I'll eventually do proper wiring, but this gives me a way to do the mod in my dorm room. Thanks!
+Mattsoup thx for the feedback ^^
FPS test or at least range test.
Finally a good start to modding!
please check out my other tutorials as well ^_~
I am so gonna do this.
So, how did It turn out...???!!!
@@JupiterKnight lmao
But how did it turn out?
@@marsh499 hehe
Bruh
damn this is awsome, you dont need to add any special parts (other than the batteries), just have to take something out and twist a circut, this is great! def gonna do this when i get the stryfe!
I’m never gonna mod, but this is cool, good job mate!
Thank you that was the most helpful video I've seen s far.
+Jared Olsen you're welcome
@@blastawayeu Do I need LMR(lithium manganese) or will LCR batteries work?
Anju if you are still wondering imr will be far better as icr are much less safe and have been known to explode in a fiery mess and imr will probably yield better performance but please please please do your research as these batteries can be very dangerous
this one is awsome
Excellent tutorial! I may just have to try this on my modulus stryfe if i can get some stronger batteries for it
That centurion shell stryfe is awesome!
Great video, has the promised time limit, no excessive tagging or "don't forget to like spam". You get what you wanted.
Thank you for uploading quality videos.
+Le On thx! here's the "follow-up video" ruclips.net/video/-fM0on1aU-E/видео.html ^^
You only need to twist the thermistor 180 degrees, just so the wires touch each other before the thermistor. Don’t bother with 360 degrees, you might break it.
Dude thx so much, now my 7 year old Stryfe sounds like a monster and just like it did when I first got it 7 years ago
this is so good! thanks! now i just need to find some imrs...
2:36 My orange stryfe did NOT have the little dart lock in it when i opened it! Is this standard with the orange version?
I used 3 trustfire batteries (the new ones with the capacitor thingy on the tip) and one dummy and was able to fire 12 out of 18 shots before the stryfe cut out. My resistor is larger and square not round like yours, the way the wires are molded point them away from each other making it difficult to twist so i used the metal from a twist tie and tied it around the resistors legs and presto! modded stryfe. with this blaster I'm going to leave all locks in it as they do not (currently) bother me.
Thx for the tutorial =)
i did the same what you did on my orange stryfe! ^_~
bigemugamer same with my oj stryfe
Damn, you're right, why'd they do that with the orange stryfe anyway?
I found out later on the dart lock was removed because damaged darts would potentially not load properly.
Can you just use a regular twist tie to tie the legs of the resistor together? Because I am not positive as to what you mean by saying "metal part of the twist tie" because, I have only ever seen plastic ones, so I am a tad confused.
Hey @blastaway.eu where did you buy your batteries?
Probably out of darts or ebay
thanks for the tutorial, i always hear coop772 mention 3 imr batteries and a dummy one and bypassing the thermistor for greater performance, this will realy help me out when i get my own stryfe!
It is worth noting that 3 IMR batteries will kill the motors faster than 2. If you want longevity I recommend using better 6v motors and running it on alkalines or nimh AA cells
@@paulyd4978 which batteries exactly?
Dude u have no idea how much u helped me like i got some ultra fire batteries not relizing that u needed to do all ghis crap and reeireing and i just couldent do it so this was so easy and simple so thank u❤️
+yolo life thx for the feedback ^^
What are the specifications of the IMR battery?
Where can you get efest imr batteries?
This was really helpful thanks!
thank u so much for this tutorial, im gonna mod my stryfe like that!
sure - have fun ^^
Does this Stryfe still work now? After 3 years? I'm wondering about the wear and tear on the blaster, and if that's something to be concerned about.
As long the IMRs aren’t long term(you switch to Lipos and upgrade the motors) the thing is fine.
@@justanotherasian4395 what sort of imr battery is that? Will a 1.2V work?
@@mee8915 1 IMR is also known as 1S (1 cell), and are 3.7v.
You can run 2S Lipo batteries (or 2 IMRS, 7.4v) and doing the steps in the video to bypass the thermistor, without rewiring or upgrading the motors, and it will run well for years.
3S batteries (11.1v), will work, but with the stock wires and motors. they can spark and burn, if not immediately, in a few weeks of use.
If you're planning to mod past 2S or 7.4V, then you need to rewire with thicker wires, better rev switch, and better motors, the last of which will cost more than the battery itself depending on your location.
1.2v is equivalent to 1 *rechargeable* AA battery, while the *stock* stryfe with no mods runs at 4.8v or 6v if you run it with non-rechargeables.
Can I have the link to where you got the batteries? :D thanks
Thanks for tutorial now I love my stryfe so much
I have 3 Stryfes a OJ a Camo and a Modulus I plan on doing this to all 3 thanks for the video
NOT3> if you have an orange one there newer and don't have the dart lock I've already done this
+christopher kelley My orange Stryfe XD actually did. I live in the US though.
Yeah I do to but I guess it's just some d o some dont
+Lamar Golson WHAT THE FUCK. My Stryfe came in orange, and I thought it wasn't XD. SO I HAVE A STRYFE XD?!?!?!?!
OH HELL YEAH
Christopher Kelley so that mean you can just put the batteries in?
Chris Kross my orange one had a dart lock, but idk if it's a difference but my Orange stryfe doesn't have an "elite" text on the white paint job like most of them do, does that have anything to do with it?
Will the stryfe not shot down? I only have one and dont want tocdestroy it, i also dont have alot of experienc!

This is the best mod I did it thank you so so much
i thought you spent 7 hours working on that!
do more tutorials!!
Thanks man helped so much
Love this and the dummy batterys video
I know this is 5 years old, but there have to be some viewers who did this. My question is: is the lifespan of the stryfe reduced by this mod and if yes, do you need to upgrade wires/flywheels etc to still have the standart lifespan?
Yes, you will eventually have to rewire and upgrade
@@AleksandarGoleminov how long till you have to rewire?
@@somechickensquid3916 In my opinion if you only use 2 IMR batteries (any brand) and 2 dummy batteries I think it'll last longer than using 3 IMR's and one dummy. So maybe like in at least 7 months you can rewire.
@@antoinepumicpic3616 ok thx
@@antoinepumicpic3616 when I got the oj stryfe for Christmas I was happy, I’ve ordered some attachments online of which a 22 round worker mag is included would that make the stryfe burn out because I did it with a 25 drum and it did, so I was wondering if I opened the stryfe and bypassed the thermistor, would that have any impact on the blasters performance/life?
Just run 2 IMR’ it works the same without having to mess with it. Also if u run it for to long with 3 it can completely just shut down.
Where did you get the battiers from I have looked every where and still have not found them plz tell me
What sort of imr battery is that? Is it 1.2V?
Thanks dude
Does 2 work fine without having to twist that wire? And how’s your gun so far?
Thank you so much! It works like a charm and I am ready to kick ass in battle
wich imr batterys are these exactly?
Amazing tutorial!
Question: Does having 4 imr batteries in the blaster affect it in any way once I've already done the steps with the inside?
Yes four IMR will burn the micro swiches and possibly the motors to
@Brandon Cho I know lol
@Brandon Cho So doing the exact thing did in the video with 2 imrs and dummies would do? Without having to replace the motor?
@@user-yb7ik6sb1v it will be less powerful then 3 imr's i think youll still have to do the steps inside with the thermistor not sure tho

Great video! I am definitely going to use this for my Stryfe.
Don't it'll 1/4th your guns lifespan
+nick kopschaninow : I'd really rather burn out my flywheelers and enjoy great performance (plus be forced to learn surgery if I want to extend the blaster's life) than suffer a long lifetime of mediocrity. That's the whole point of modding!
EXACTLY LOL
@@nickkopschaninow6561 the whole point of modding is upgrading and changing your gun, if it breaks just buy a new one second hand for 10 bucks or rewire it
Man you earned a sub
Can we use 3.7V 1100mAh Li-Ion 18500 IMR Rechargeable Battery
Lightningstrike 273 no 14500
ok thanks
Can we use efest imr 18500 Li-Mn battrey 1100mah 3.7V?
18500 anything, is way too big for the stock battery tray to use.
Imr rechargeable is redundant one two hell no
I SUGGEST that you don't do this without putting better motors in your blaster first because if you use this guys technique you will burn out your motors and end up with a smelly and non functional blaster but do this guys method if u want your blaster to last 4 months of constant use or 6 of non constant when a reg blaster last u around double this
+nick kopschaninow lol what? first of all, he's using 3 IMR's and that is completely fine, only 4 will hurt the motors. Next of all 4 months? A stryfe with IMR's lasts way more than that and lasts the same as a normal blaster. Also a normal blaster lasts twice as much as 6 months? dude, blasters last more than a year. I have a perfectly fine modified maverick from 7-8 years ago, what the hell do you do to your blasters to destroy them that quick.
+nick kopschaninow here's proof, that you'll be fine doing this mod ruclips.net/video/eOkNUuPltTs/видео.html
he’s honestly not lying I did this to my desolator and it burnt out after 1 year
funfacegaming wrong gun maybe?
so just to clarify, that stryfe coop was using had these mods and no rewire?
Looks very helpful. Hope it works with my Modulus Stryfe. Any cons about this operation
I have just ordered an original rayven and since they have basically the same internals as the elite rayven and stryfe I was wondering where the thermosister was in it ??
Also does this power mod work on the rayven ??
Thx in advance :)
Imagine nuclear batteries or something...
They wouldn't work they would run so fast that that would blow out your motors in an instant, let alone the government of any country freely selling Nuclear material to the public
+nick kopschaninow Exactly
are you high?
dude im from 3 years after this and take my word. The stryfe will be the new hiroshima bomb.
It would last decades
btw, what IMR are you specifically using?

+Excalibur 4249 yes that means stripped the screw
+LamsterLou ah I see sry
+Tyrone there is a special screwdriver used for stripped screws if u go to the local homedepot and ask if they have anything for stripped screws they should get you something for a decent price

For the Stryfe, when you clip off the thermistor does it affect performance or how it works at all?
what voltage/specs are the IMR's you used

Thank You!
so its the 14500's ?
do they look like Aa or C?

If you are watching this video in 2019, DO NOT FOLLOW THIS TUTORIAL.
TL;DR, you are turning your blaster into a major fire hazard.
Running IMR batteries in even a stock blaster will overdraw and damage the batteries, which risks the batteries venting hot gas, or catching fire. Even worse, do NOT twist off the thermistor. Using stock wiring with ANY high current power supply and a bypassed thermistor could cause the wiring to burn out, or the switches to hard short, which is very bad for the batteries.
Does it depend on the stryfe
@@crayzshh168 No.
I second this.

This video is amazing bro! I'm new at nerf stuff and I don't know what are the "imr batteries"... Are they the same as the Litium ones?
i think so... not too sure, which ones you are comparing ^^'
blastaway.eu well, I'm from Guatemala... So, it's difficult for me to find those kind of batteries. And I don't know so much about them... Which would you recomend me? I'll look for them here ^-^

Thank God this exist, you just saved my $30
Modding the thermistor and simply using standard 4 x 1.5v AA batteries already makes the motors spool up faster. Replace with IMRs and they go ballastic.
