Tbh I am FUCKING AMAZED on how did they pulled out such beefy and dense soundfont with over 100 instruments on a portable console with limited cartridge space PMD Explored of The Sky has amazing music. Like what the fuck how?! It's so amazing how good can this soundfont sound!! Also not the same for the 4th gen games. They sound atrocious with low quality short looping samples and very simple flat mixing. How the heck did the studio at a dungeon crawler spin-off do miles better... ON THE SAME CONSOLE than GameFreak themselves?!
I think it can be slightly be attributed to the custom audio engine the game uses, which very few DS games used. It is still not understood that well by the community. The fact that a game is only 87MB in size while having a 6+ hour OST is mind boggling.
@@boonkunak Very fascinating! Yeah...! The OST has over 100 songs! On the Nintendo DS!!! And the sample sound rich in detail and don't sound jarring or overly compressed! Again I never like how poor the gen 4 games sounded... Tbh. Gen 4 sounds more compressed and ugly thqn gen 3!!! How they scuffed the sound so badly! Gen 3 also has great music packed with decent instrument. But gen 4 has extremely short and loud samples. Samples like the ensemble strings are very short in length and sound very repetitive. Don't get me wrong the music of gen 4 is grand and beautiful but I just think it could sound way better.
Putting this at .75 speed really makes it sound like a dungeon theme.
