The white reverse lights are actually brighter than the red so it comes through bright. Even though this product is meant to be translucent some installers may disregard the instructions and go too dark, the lights won’t perform well when that happens. LED lights are always the better to cover vs bulb lights.
Yeah it’s definitely not for everyone, this product is translucent so there’s no need to upgrade the lights. You’ll still get the same effect as normal.
Oh nice im gonna have to try it out then i thought just doing tint on the break lights but if this stuff is like that i might have to give it a try im gonna watch the video ago lol
@@newtouchauto ok so i watched it again bro and payed attention i see what your talking about damn i would shouw you how i did mine if i could send pics on here but its just reversed what you did. thats what i did to my escape
@@justinboozer2934 I did that a few times with other customer vehicles, they wanted the reverse light to remain white and it looks more custom that way
The reverse portion of the taillights weren’t sprayed, only the park and brake. The film tint is translucent so the lights will be visible and not hard to see at night. Spraying more than 3 coats is when you could dim the light, the darker you spray the less light will be able to come through. I don’t recommend it but if you decide to spray the headlights try not to go over 2 light coats. Older model vehicles run off bulbs and it’ll definitely effect the brightness of your lights.
You’re right about that, after consistent car washing and weather changes it’ll fade overtime. The clear coat application is a great option for a permanent finish.
Yes it’ll remove with lacquer thinner, I wouldn’t suggest using this product anywhere else other than lights. Using it on your dashboard will take too much product to try and black it out, it’s not gonna cover as quick as normal paint.
No it won’t remain glossy, after 6-8 months it’ll begin to fade into a lighter shade. You can always respray the lights with 1-2 coats. Using film tint you won’t have to worry about fading, it’ll always have the same look until you decide to remove it. If you’re interested in watching a video on how to install film tint I have 4-5 uploaded to my channel.
I wouldn’t say that it’s a waste of time because I’ve done so a few times. I’d say the benefit to removing the entire light housing is that you save time from masking the perimeter.
How many coats did you put on the reverse lights? And how many on the headlights? This is great, I applied film to the third light and after 4 months of FL sun its already peeling. Great way to get the look and work with what you already have! Thanks for the video.
You’re welcome and thanks for checking out the video, for the front I only spray 2 light coats giving it a smoked look. You don’t wanna go too dark bc your headlights won’t shine through properly at night, as for the taillights I do 3-4 coats.

Since this video I’ve moved onto vinyl film tints which last as long as you like it to. With the liquid film in this video it will fade over time from the sun rays and wash chemicals but it’s easy to remove with lacquer thinner.
Great question, honestly this isn’t a permanent thing so the sun and car wash chemicals will eventually fade it to a lighter image. This VHT method will last about a year, by then you could either recoat it or remove it with lacquer thinner.
Give it about 2-3 days, after about 6-8 months the film spray will begin to fade. You can can always respray the lights once you notice, only 1-2 coats needed if you decide to respray.
@@newtouchauto ok asking because I went to a shop yesterday an paid to do tail light tint an after I left the tint was coming right off within 2 damn hours. I went ryte back an they sprayed it. Looks gud just tryna see is spraying hood or go back an figure out the film?
@@yungswagg8848 there are 2 ways to apply light tints and that’s spraying it or applying film tints. It seems that they applied film tint the first round bc the spray tint won’t come off in that manner after 2 hours. Whenever film tints are applied or even vinyl wraps you have to let it sit in the sun before clearing out future issues. If no movement happens then it was applied correctly, if not as soon as it hits the outdoor heat you’ll experience the film crinkle up.
This actually was a customer vehicle that I worked on but here’s the info. After about 8 months the spray tint will begin to fade slightly, you can always re-spray maybe 2 coats whenever the time comes. Film tints will give you more longevity than spray tints.
Hey how’s it going and thanks for checking out the video. This spray holds up pretty good, the darker your coats the longer it’ll last dark. 4 coats is a good target but if you go any less the tint will begin to lighten up around the 8 month mark, if it does you can always spray over it again for that dark look again.
