Key Battery on a 2007 Mercedes-Benz SL550 Easy DIY How To

This very brief video explains how you can change your battery key on your Mercedes-Benz 2007 SL550. I've seen many many tutorials online that try to address this but mostly with keys that open on the side panel. I'm sure others like myself have been struggling to find out how to change their keys. I'm also sure that the mechanical key has a million and one uses that I'm not aware of. Let me know if you know any exciting ones besides obviously opening your key to get to your battery. Great video, clear and simple. Works for my 2009 SL550. Apparently, not all Mercedes key fobs open the same way. Trying of open my daughter's 2014 E350 won't work with this method. It works for the one I have and the guy's 2007 in the video.

If you’re having a problem with the key, trying to push that little lever back, just grab a small screwdriver and insert it in the little indentation and pull it back and you will open the key fob battery compartment no problem

I think the reason why yours was so difficult to open is that you've got the wrong batteries installed. Your video shows CR2032, not the CR2025 that I found in my 2008 SL550 key. The CR2032 is also 3V, but with more capacity and therefore thicker than the CR2025.

Thanks for your comment. If you watch the video carefully, the level that you are fitting into perfectly only moves in one direction. It is sort of self explanatory. You use the back of the side edge of the mechanical key in and push upwards to move that lever. It only moves in one direction. From right to left when you are looking directly at the key. Sorry it was not clearer for you.
