I have a sister loc consultation on Saturday and I’m so freaking excited. I’ve been searching for someone who’s hair looks similar to mine. Your hair is around the same length. Box braids did the same thing to my edges. You look gorgeous with locs. I’m incredibly excited to start my journey!! Thank you so much because this video gave me so much confidence
Oh my God you just answered all of my fine hair questions... Thank you so much for choosing to do this channel because you were speaking to my soul... Now I'm confident about getting the sisterlocks
Omg 😱 I am literally in love with your hair . I’m a hairstylist and I’ve always said to myself that I’m gonna loc my hair but know my hair would never be those thick bulky locs (what I’ve always wanted 😭😭) because my hair was on the finer side . Definitely have a lot of it just super fine . And I’m just here watching random videos and here you are having me ready to clear my schedule and do this install . I am so IN LOVE with your hair . Beautiful head of hair and beautiful job done by the stylist
OMG!!!! Your hair looks like mine!!! It didn’t occur to me that I have fine hair. I have short hair so when I came home after installation day I was bummed at first because it was so stiff and “scalpy.” I’m a week loc’d and it already looks different. Thank you SO MUCH for this video!!!🤗
😍😍😍 thank you for making this channel!! I tried sisterlocs before but did not like that my head was so scalpy but I’ve grown in confidence with my own self and also did traditional locs which I loved but i think I’m ready for the sisterlocs now. My first love of locs! 😊
Gurlllll, ur stylist did a hellava job. They look amazing. I'm trying to find a how to video so I can do my daughter's hair. She has fine hair as well and braids are always pulling her hair out so I wanna try something different.
My hair is very thin and fine. I had worn a TWA for many years and decided on locks. Had my sisterlocks installed in 2004. My journey has been long but I'm glad I stuck with it.
My edges, which were barely there, are coming back. I don't do a lot of styling. My hair can't take the stress. Very simple updos work or a ponytail loosely bound. I think they always look elegant.
Your hair looks BEAUTIFUL!!!😍😍😍😍 I understand too when in the beginning there were NO VIDEOS for us that have fine hair who desired having locs. Sisterlocks in particular ☺️
I’ve been debating for like 2 or 3 years. I’m so afraid. My hair is fine/thin - even more so than yours. The first person I went to for a consult told me I was not a good candidate. So I have been discouraged. Thank you for the inspiration. I may get another consult. Meanwhile, I’m rocking crochet braids.
Wow... We were loose natural twins. I never considered my hair (except the front) fine or thin.. But yes, I had all of the issues (because of lack of knowledge) breaking edges from braids, transparent ends, as well as raggedy ends.. Because I have high density I considered myself having thick hair. So not true. Thanks for sharing. My consultation is in a couple of weeks and you are my loc'd sista crush.. Your hair is beautiful.
I know this is old but so happy I found ur videos. I just installed 390 microlocs. Im also high density fine hair ❤️ only seen one other person besides you with the same hair as mine
Yeah. There weren't too many people to look at in terms of what to expect with our hair type. So I decided to go for it, hope for the best, and record my journey. I'm very happy it is working out and very happy that putting my journey online has helped so many other women with our hair type to take a leap of faith and loc their hair too. Representation matter, right? ❤️ I also have around 390-395 locs too!
I’m so excited. I have thin fine curly hair. I will be getting my install soon. Thanks to covid, I have to wait a little longer for my appointment date. Your hair looks amazing you gave me hope‼️
I didn't know that you could have high density fine hair! My hair is low density & fine...double negative for me, but I love my sisterlocks & I love yours too 💯❤❤
I'm so glad you did this video! My hair is thin due to getting Chemotherapy from cancer. I have a consultation in the new year January 31, 2021. I'm letting my hair grow some more. Hopefully by the time I got for my consult my hair won't be so thin. Your hair looks great!
Ok. I'm going to do the unthinkable. Lol. Sisters, hear me out ok, I'ma do this myself. I'm going to DIY my locs. I also have thin long hair and I mostly braid mine because I love braids but even braids can be a problem yes cause my scalp gets tired very quickly. I braid my hair every month into a different style. I'm also thinking I can get away with braids during locking process but not initially. Oh and the reason I'm opting to do my own locs.....I just really don't like someone else working on my hair.....Soooo wish me luck guys....lolllll and thanks so very much for sharing this awesome vid. Love and light💖💕✨
@@TheRealKylaB THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! as an actor and a musician i think this will open up myself for real. I do have a question! How do you dictate how the hair will look as to whether it’s an afro and it comes down or if it just falls? Is it the density of the hair that makes it fall? Is it the way it’s parted that dictates how it will lay?
You don’t dictate. The way your hair grows out of your scalp/ your hair’s natural characteristics determine the final outcome of your locs. That’s why locs look very from person to person.
That was my first question too! My hair actually looks much fuller than it did when it was curly and I’m only 5 weeks in, so definitely opposite of my expectations

thank you for making this video! I have been going back and forth on making the decision for years. I now want to do it but my hair is fine and I was looking for someone who could maybe answer a question or two. Thank you
I feel that your hair looked beautiful from day one. I have a consultation set up for next month. I’m just trying to be really really sure that I can make the commitment to have someone else do my hair on a regular basis. I have been a diy natural for years.
You can always learn how to retie your hair. That way you won’t have to depend on anyone unless you want to. I have microlocs that I started and I began my own reties. I started doing to a loctician about a few years after I started. I stopped going to her during CoVID but if I don’t feel like doing my retie I will call her.

You're welcome Stephanie. That's exactly why I wanted to share my journey on RUclips. I wanted it could serve as a reference to anyone who could relate. ❤️
My fine, thin hair has NO density. I tell people its because of a mysterious condition,😊but it's just old age and genetics in my opinion. My mother and grandmother's hair was also superfine and thin. Those locks look lovely. But I'm seeing that the install and maintenance costs are through the roof! Definitely for high income generating ladies! Plus i believe it's in your best interest to learn how to maintain and reloc your own hair and Im awful when it comes to such things with hair. However I'll keep watching in case I win the lotto and can afford an assistant in my retirement casa in Mexico...🙂.
lol. It's not that pricey (though this depends on where you live). Find a trainee, to do your sisterlocks, or just get microlocks. im so scared about what mine will look like mine is super low denisty and its only 8 inches idk if i have the confidence to wait and wear it how it will look at the beggining
Fine low density hair sister here! LOL My installation day was 2/23/21 and I love them even though right now I look like a plucked chicken😂. I have 257 locs and it was done by a certified loctician with over 200 heads under her belt. They are very small and the perfect number for my hair type and my grid is on point!
yes! Welcome to the sisterhood boo! The plucked chicken stage will be over before you know it ! Don’t worry! I’m excited for you! I hope you have a beautiful journey. Takes lots of pics!

& up. Lol. Yes. It’s true. You can always get it done by a trainee. They’re typically cheaper.

So gorgeous! What’s the name of the salon?
I went to Vanity Hair Studio in Brooklyn in 2020. They closed the Brooklyn location in 2022.
I got them done in 2020 at Vanity Hair Studio in Brooklyn. The shop closed in 2022
Where in Brooklyn did you get your installation and at what length??
How long was your hair when you got them installed? Does length affect price?
it was 10" in the back and about 12" in the front.
& yes. It does.
