I am so glad you did the videos. My hair grows but it’s very thin and I wanted sister locs but I was afraid because of my thin hair . Now seeing yours gives me to much hope
with my sisterlocks, I’ve noticed my hair texture is different in various parts. The back of my hair gets more bunching and the curls are looser. The front of my hair is nicely thicker and has weight, so it is settling nicely. The crown of my head is mad sensitive, so I have to be careful putting it in a bun. April 24 will mark my two year journey and I’ve never felt more free!! I have low density and fine hair. Thank you for showing us your journey, your progress is awesome!!
Thank you hair sister! lol. 😊 My hair is looser in the front and much tighter in the back. & the back is locking faster. Congrats on 2 years! I'm excited to see how my hair will look in 2 years.
Your RUclips channel is what pushed me over the fence! Now I am researching loctitians! I have been thinking about getting sisterlocks for years! I'm excited about starting this journey! Thanks for all of the ver helpful information!
This is awesome! I am close to two months in. I have fine hair and I was so worried after my install. I already notice a difference. Keep the videos coming!
Your hair looks great! Your progress gives me hope, I also have fine hair! Your videos have been so helpful! I have a consult next month at the same place based on your experience and progress. I'm excited to see how your hair progresses!
Thank you! & I'm happy to help. That's why I started this channel. I know how the fine hair struggle can be when it comes to being discouraged -especially through the research stage. So I'm just happy to help whoever I can with my journey. Good luck on yours! I hope the consult goes well! 🥰🤞🏾
Your pics look amazing… I’m only about 6weeks in and getting ready to have mine washed and retightened for the first time and can’t wait. I’m excited about the progress, and hope my hair gets thicker because it’s so thin right now. I’m going to continue to follow your progress and maybe even learn from you
I’m just finding your channel!!! I also have fine/thinner hair. I got microlocs yesterday and my hair is more scalp than hair. Thank you for confirming that I made the right choice! Your hair is beautiful
@Aminah Hi 👋🏾 I actually did not. Did some research and found out that bc my hair was sooooo thick that once they get weight on them there was a possibility that they will break off. So I just got small Locs! I’m a year in!
Your six month update gave me life. I’ve been following you since the beginning and your videos definitely influenced my decision to get Sisterlocks. I couldn’t find anyone on RUclips with similar hair and you’re the closest match. How often do you wet / mist your hair between re-ties? And how often do you wash your hair?
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 Thanks for taking the journey with me then sis! I'm happy I was helpful to you! In the beginning, I would spray my hair 2 - 3x a week, and when I say spray, I mean barely mist. lol. Now, I only spray it once a week (if at all). I find that I don't have to spray it much these days. 1) I don't go anywhere, so its not necessary. 2) When I let my hair out of my head-tie in the morning, it only takes a few minutes to fall down. I might shake it up with my hands, and fix it to lay a certain way, but I don't find water necessary as my hair progresses in this journey. My re-ti's come with a wash every 5 weeks or so. I've only washed my hair myself -- once, because my hair needed it. When I was a loose natural I washed my hair every two weeks because of all the gel and product I used to style it. If I had a protective style, I would wash it once a month. But now that I have Sisterlocks, and I don't use product anymore, my hair requires wayyyy less washing. So it only gets washed when I get a re-ti now. Sorry for the long response. lol
@@TheRealKylaB thanks so much for your detailed response! It’s much appreciated. I’m only 2 weeks in on this Sisterlock journey and I’m enjoying it. Yes! I know that excitement sis! lol I cannot wait to see how my hair looks at the 1 year mark either! The fullness? The growth? Can't wait to see it. lol I've loved my hair since the day my locs were established. I'm trying to enjoy every stage while I'm in it, because once I pass that stage, I won't get to experience it again. lol Take LOTS of PICTURES, and LOTS of VIDEOS!
Your locs look great!! I’m almost 2 months in. I can’t wait to hit 6 months so I can see some length up top. My hair was shorter on top and medium length in the back. Great video! I have to remember to document my progression.
Thank you!! & Yes! take pictures. take pictures. take pictures. When you look at them, you'll see ALL the changes and be able to spot the differences. I cannot recommend the picture taking enough. I mentioned in this video that I didn't feel like my hair was growing, but while I was editing it and putting it together, I was like " oh wow. my hair is definitely growing." lol
Made six months last week. The most noticeable thing I’ve found is that my roots are starting to lock. Still have my curly ends. Not sure that I ever want to get rid of them though. It is definitely getting bigger not necessarily longer.
Your hair looks amazing. To keep the curls I remember watching another lady here on RUclips (Livin Devine) she has beautiful diy locs she says that she uses a heavy conditioner (Joico Moisture Recovery Conditioner) to keep the texture of her hair and prevent the ends from locking.
Thanks for showing us the journey rather than just talking about it for 15 mins lol. Love your locs. I have my consult coming up soon and i have fine hair too
Your locs look amazing! I get my sisterlocs installed Feb 20th, that day can’t come any sooner lol. Your videos have definitely helped me already. Keep em coming girl! ☺️
I LOVEEEEEE IT. I am getting sister locs soon and sooooo excited. Ive been wanting them for years an Im getting older an just tired of dealing with my hair an want them so badd. So I am excited an cant wait. Thanks for all the info on the locs to.
Hi dear, I'm 5 months loc'd. I noticed thickness and growth mostly. I notice growing out in thickness than length as well. Curly ends too! Your locs looks amazing
I think a big factor of curly ends is actually how far down your loctitian locks your hair initially. If there's a substantial amount, then when that hair gets wet, it will more likely curl. However, if the hair is locked closer to the bottom or all the way down, you're more likely to get blunt ends. I'm only about 3 almost 4 weeks in to having my locs but I started looking it up because I randomly noticed a picture of a girl with sisterlocks and ALL of her ends are curly. Some of my ends are curly, not all. Today is the first day I'm washing and my first retightening is tomorrow. I plan to use conditioner on my ends only once my hair is more settled to keep my ends curly. But water works for almost all of my hair. (My former colorist gave me heat damage right in the front so those ends won't hold a curl without manipulation, so I often twirl those ends around my finger.) I've avoided putting product in my hair because I want to see how my hair reacts with just water. I'm so excited to see what the starter lock shampoo does! I hope after this first wash more of my ends curl. For reference, I have extremely fine, low-normal density majority 4C hair. High porosity (naturally, even before color or the heat damage from her blow dryer.) Thank you for the update! I'm excited for my own hair journey.
That's definitely a big factor. The texture of your natural hair is also a huge factor. Some of my loose ends are only an inch or so long. My hair is a 4a/4b texture. Super coily. All I need is water for it to curl up. My curls are so cute the first few days after my hair gets washed. Then they just look eh. lol. I'm excited for you and your journey as well. I love seeing/hearing from other women with fine hair. Makes my day to see so many of us taking the loc route with our natural hair. 🥰
@@TheRealKylaB Thanks for replying! I think the loc'd route works for most of us but fear makes us afraid to venture into a permanent style until we get fed up with the things that aren't working. My biggest con with my sisterlocks is that my scalp is still dry and flaky. I've only had issues with dandruff 2-3 times during my whole natural career so this drives me crazy. Especially when they get stuck in the locs lol. (I know what you mean about the "eh" phase and I'll most likely be the girl who uses my left over products on my ends once my hair is confirmed locked.)
Sis you and your hair are gorgeous!! 😍😍😍 I big chopped for the 3rd time in November (due to postpartum shedding) and I’m currently growing my hair out to install microlocs this coming November. I know the shrinkage will be real. You hair is just stunning though!
Good evening 🙏your hair looks beautiful. I am going to get my sisterloca this Sunday and I am excited. But I have color in my hair and feel like I am losing hair. So keep me in prayer 🙏.
Thank you for sharing. I get my install in 2 weeks. Nervous and excited. I think I'm more nervous of the scalpy look 😖😩.. Your hair is beautiful and this video gives me energy.
Thank you 😊. I'm happy to share! & don't worry about the scalpy look. It's the shortest phase. It might seem long while its happening, but it'll be over before you know it.
Looking great Sis! I’m like you I don’t have hand in hair syndrome as much as the beginning. As far as the curly ends I heard you can kind of lightly pull on your ends daily and that will keep them from locking and staying curly. I’m 8 months in and I don’t pay my hair a lot of attention such makes me feel like I have more length when I actually do pay attention to my hair 😩💕🤣
Thanks so much for these videos. I’m almost 4 weeks in and Lordy this gives me hope for my scalpy look! I have fine hair too so I’m happy to see what you’re has done. Can’t wait till 6 months!!! You hair looks amazing 🤩
Thank you :) I had 2 consultations. The first time, I got them put behind my ear. I wore my natural hair out in a little twa at the time. so I just left my hair alone. The second time, we didn't bother with any test locs. We both knew which way was best to loc my hair.
Starting my journey in 2 weeks. I also have 12” of hair and same density. I really like your videos, I’ve literally watched a hundred but I don’t subscribe to other channels. Definitely subscribed to your channel!!
Thanks so much. I too have soft thin hair, not sure if its low density or not. Any way, 've always struggles with dandruff and found an amazing product that allows me to go 2 week without washing and not be flaky. Question is can how often can i wash my locs when i get them? Do you use the sisterlock shampoo that recommended? Any advice for scalp care to alleviate scalp dryness that would promote slippage?
The sisterlock shampoo is good, BUT it leaves flakes. If you run your fingers through your hair, it looks like dandruff. My consultant kept scratching my scalp and i was seeing these tiny dots. I switched to a clarifying shampoo and no more flakes.
I think your best bet would be to ask a consultant or a hair stylist/professional. I don't have experience with dandruff enough to make a suggestion and I would hate to give you false information. I want to say you can wash your hair as often as it is needed. If you wash it every 2 weeks now, I don't see anything wrong with that. I know some people who wash their hair every week. It's really going to be determined by the needs of your hair. Excessive washing can cause slippage though. So again, definitely talk it over with your consultant and see what THEY recommend. I do use the sisterlock shampoo that they recommend. I haven't had any flaky issues with it. I do recommend (to anyone who is having that problem) that they add more water. The shampoo is concentrated. I've seen this come up in other videos and other chats, and the answer that came up the most was to add more water to stop the flakiness. I haven't had any flaking. I dilute mine in water, and use a spray bottle to apply it. Hope this helps!
Thank you so much 🥰! & I knowwwww. I took wayyyyyy too long to edit and upload it. lol. But you know how it is. Sometimes life just gets in the way. lol
I was watching your video and I love your hair and I also love that loc look at the end I don’t do anything to maintain my ends a lot of my ends are still curly for some odd reason my ends have not locked and I’ve been locked for almost 6 years now.
I use a brush like the tangle teaser. While I’m in the shower, after washing, I condition, and brush the ends with the brush. I have no intentions of ever locking my ends
hello i just started my loc jorney and my hair is thin but I love it. your hair is so pretty I just wanted to know know how they looked when y ou first got them done
Your hair looks fabulous. I too have decided to go on the loc journey (2mos. in). I should have done this sooner...lol. What products do you put in your hair. How often does your hair get washed?
Yes. It is. I wanted a loc'd t shirt that had micro sized locs on it and couldn't find one. All of the tshirts had traditional locs on them. So I made one that had what I wanted on it instead. lol
I will be locked this year. I’m thinking I should cut my damaged ends. How long was your hair at your install? Would you say your hair is 3a or 4a/b/c? I just love your curls.
Thank you!!! 🥰 My hair was 12” in the front and 10” in the back. At my consultation, the consultant called it a 4a/4b. I’d definitely go with a 4b if I had to describe it. 😊 And damaged how? With heat?
@@TheRealKylaB yes, from blow outs. The ends look so much thinner. I’ve been heat-free for 1 year and the new growth is so much thicker. Even though my hair strands are very fine. My current length is 11” crown, 9” back and front. I’m really hoping for the curl definition at the ends once established.
Ok, so what you’re telling me is that it’s ok for mine to look like a little “wet rat” 😂 and not feeling confident on how they look like because I’m used to having extensions on and make my hair look very full, so now I’m feeling a little bit “naked” and that as the month progresses they’re going to look much better? PS. I did them myself and I’m just starting to grow my hair out after a big chop.
I am so glad you did the videos. My hair grows but it’s very thin and I wanted sister locs but I was afraid because of my thin hair . Now seeing yours gives me to much hope

🥰 Thank you so much!
& thanks for watching! I appreciate it! How old are your locs? Did you just get them?
6 months: the fullness!
Right?!
@@TheRealKylaB My hair texture is very similar to yours. Check out my 27th month update.
Thanks so much for these videos. I’m almost 4 weeks in and Lordy this gives me hope for my scalpy look! I have fine hair too so I’m happy to see what you’re has done. Can’t wait till 6 months!!! You hair looks amazing 🤩
Thank you ! I know I'm late with this reply, but another month has gone by. How's your hair doing now?
@@TheRealKylaB aww no worries it’s going ok! I feel like I’m imagining it thickening out 🤣 keeping the faith
Absolutely gorgeous! How did you style your hair when you did your test locs?
Thank you :)
I had 2 consultations.
🥰😍 Thank you! & thank you for subscribing! I feel special now. lol
You got this! I'm excited for you!
Take lots of pictures!!!! That's my #1 tip. lol
@@TheRealKylaB that was so detailed. Thanks so much for replying
Lol. Np. You’re welcome.
I love your hair so much...I was waiting for your new upload like...🐶
Thank you so much 🥰! & I knowwwww. I took wayyyyyy too long to edit and upload it. lol. But you know how it is. Sometimes life just gets in the way. lol
@@TheRealKylaB True true🤗🤗
I was watching your video and I love your hair and I also love that loc look at the end I don’t do anything to maintain my ends a lot of my ends are still curly for some odd reason my ends have not locked and I’ve been locked for almost 6 years now.
Thank you. 😊
And really ? 6 years? Wow. I wonder why. At least a third of my curly ends have started to lock.
In my consult I’ve been told you need to brush he ends to keep the curls
yeah. that makes sense
I love yourSisterlocks, it looks fantastic
Thank you boo ❤️
Lock your locks!!!! What would you recommend for treatment and do you oil your scalp?
Thank you 😊.
I actually don’t use any products in my hair. Just water and the Sisterlocks shampoo right now.
I use a brush like the tangle teaser. While I’m in the shower, after washing, I condition, and brush the ends with the brush. I have no intentions of ever locking my ends
I would love to see your hair. You on IG
How often do you do this?
@@mariasundy Andreadailey1 on IG
@@TheRealKylaB I’ve done it twice since I started my hair last May
When I hit 6 months my hair was FLUFFY 😍
that is such an accurate word to use. FLUFFY. lol ❤️
03.02.2024. Where are you located?. Who did your sisterlocs? I live in Maryland and trying to find a good loctician.
Did you find out how to keep your curls
hello i just started my loc jorney and my hair is thin but I love it. your hair is so pretty I just wanted to know know how they looked when y ou first got them done
I have m install video in my page. You can check it out if you haven’t already. You can see my hair before , during, and after I got them
hey what is the difference between a 3 point rotation and a 4 point rotation?
After how long should i do the first retie after installation?
Am one month old
Love your locs! How long does it take you to retighten your locs??
Thanks boo ☺️🥰
Around 2.5 -3 hrs.
Just got mine a week ago but i've been following you for a while. Keep up the great work! You look great!!
Thank you!! 😊
Take lots of pictures!
I cant wait to get this stage, I'm 3 weeks in and i cabt stop touching my hair lol. Do you know how many locs you have btw? I have fine hair too
395 or so. And congratulations!
Beautiful 💖 what do you use for moisturizer?
Thank you. I don’t use anything for moisture other than water
Do you braid your hair every night during this stage?
I love the bun style! Do you have a sock in there, or is that all your hair?
no sock. all me. lol
I really like my curly ends
Your hair looks fabulous. I too have decided to go on the loc journey (2mos. in). I should have done this sooner...lol. What products do you put in your hair. How often does your hair get washed?
Thank you. ☺️
I don’t put any products in my hair. Just water. & I get my hair washed every time I get a reti. Every 5 weeks or so.
@@TheRealKylaB OK. Thank you!😃
Your hair is beautiful...how many inches was your hair with you initially received your sisterlocks?
Thank you 🥰.
12" in the front and 10" in the back.
@@TheRealKylaB thank you...I am scheduled to get my locs in March and are hair is similar. Thank you for sharing your journey with us.
🥰 Happy to help !
You’re in nyc? I’m in Brooklyn…where did u get your hair done? I’m ready for this!
Yes. I got them done at Vanity Hair Studio on Nostrand. You should see if they are accepting new sisterlock clients if you're interested.
How long does your reties take? I get SL next month and am curious about the maintenance.
2.5-3 hrs
Your hair looks great
Thanks Jean. ☺️
I just hit 6 months! I noticed a lot more volume but length is still shrunk
Congrats boo!
Love your locs and shirt. Is that you on your shirt!?
Yes. It is. I wanted a loc'd t shirt that had micro sized locs on it and couldn't find one. All of the tshirts had traditional locs on them. So I made one that had what I wanted on it instead. lol
and thank you :)
I will be locked this year. I’m thinking I should cut my damaged ends. How long was your hair at your install? Would you say your hair is 3a or 4a/b/c? I just love your curls.
Thank you!!! 🥰
My hair was 12” in the front and 10” in the back.
At my consultation, the consultant called it a 4a/4b. I’d definitely go with a 4b if I had to describe it. 😊
And damaged how?
I have notice my hair keeps getting shorter each time I wash it.
Yeah. Mine gets shorter the days following my wash. I’ve noticed that recently
Where you get your shirt from?
I made it :)
I love the shirt...where did you purchase it?
Thank you. I made it. I'll put them up on etsy when I finish tweaking it. 🥰
How much does it cost
Your loctitian washes your hair at each retie? Do you go to a salon?
Yes she does and yes I do. Lol
how did your hair look on your first loc and then a a month and what did you do?
My whole journey is on RUclips. Install , 1 month, 2 months. Etc. If you get a chance you should check them out
I’m in NY also, where’d you get your install?
I got them installed at Vanity Hair Studio in Brooklyn. But the salon recently decided to stop offering new sisterlock services.
I got mine installed today 👩🏽🎨 5/14/21
Welcome to the club! How is your first month going?!
Ur locs are so nice😊
Thank you 🥰
Im 4 wks in & don't u have 2 let the ends lock?
no. you don't. It's a choice.
Locs are a waiting/patience game. But they;l get where you want them to before you know it. ☺️
Wow. Fabulous
thank you 🥰
Any video with woman with sisterlocks and vert thick hair?
There should be a bunch of those on RUclips
