For someone who consistently complained about people driving on the wrong side of the road in India and "Indians", all it took was a single vehicle queue for you to break the law and turn into something you pretend to "mock" and "hate". maybe you can preach some more about caste, cows and curry in the next video. Oh wait ..... haven't you already done that ? even got a "papodom" into the video.
Welcome to South Africa! I’m sure you have lots of SA subscribers like me. Following your adventures for about 4 years now. Never expected the two of you to touch down on South African soil on your next stop. Enjoy.
Me in Kuala Lumpur with a big grin is saying... "Today you guys have completed all the modules of Driving In India by driving Trudy against the traffic flow." Be proud 😄
Joining in with Chris, THREE CHEERS TO MARIANNE!!! What an amazing, crazy, stressful, chaotic chapter in your journey. And she piloted Trudy safely all the way across the planet's most populous country with the horn being the only thing that broke. -AND- both of you found things to enjoy, be amazed by, and kept your wits the entire time. A big salute to you both! 🫡🫡What an amazing accomplishment. Tons of love & hugs. ❤️❤️😎👍xx
I've been following your journey since you were in Turkey. Marianne has shown herself to be such an accomplished and patient driver, especially in India! I've thoroughly enjoyed watching your adventure x
So sorry that India is over. I loved the music that you played while you travelled. Welcome to South Africa, I hope that you have a great time here. Please be careful.
Marianne should get an award back in the UK for driving in those conditions. If they got to keep Trudy's old horn it should live on in a RUclips museum. 😁
Do all Indians who drive in India get that award or only white women who drive in India get it ? .... does she get an award for driving on the wrong side of the road ?
Can’t imagine all the logistics in preparing and traveling on a trip like this. That’s assuming everything goes as planned as it has not. You two are master travelers and have kept your psyche intact navigating different cultures/languages/landscapes. Trudy has been the best, faithful road warrior to take you on this adventure. Best documentary ever!
My wife and I have enjoyed your jouney trough India very much. Because you were driving yourself we've seen lots of interesting things and got an impression from life over there. In our flat some Indian people live and it's nice to know were they come from.
Durban.... I am a bit jealous, I left South Africa and came back to England last year. I was living in Cape Town and miss it so much. No doubt the "Mother City" will be on your itinerary. The Garden Route down to CT and up the West Coast toward Namibia are some of the most beautiful spots in the country. Hermanus, Elgin Valley, Oudtshoorn, Langebaan and Paternoster are all worth a visit, not to mention the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront overlooked by the iconic Table Mountain. You are in for a good time. I am glad you are out of India, it didn't seem like fun, maybe not a place to drive around. I would still like to go visit so the mayhem hasn't put me off. BTW there is very nice Caravan park in Langebaan on the Lagoon called Leentjiesklip, it's right on the beach. You can see all the way across to Saldanha. Also on the West Coast, if you enjoy wildlife, maybe visit the Buffelsfontein game and nature reserve, I worked there helping set up the Wildlife Forensic Academy back in 2022. I look forward to your travels in a country where I spent over 40 years of my life. Enjoy. 😊
Hi Brian - we are in fact taking a different route - we will explain as we go - but this will leave us places to visit when we come back (spoiler alert !!)
@@TREADtheglobe Thanks for your response. Even though I love SA (I say this to all my friends who visit) PLEASE be very security conscious especially walking around with electronic equipment. Be wary of officials that are on the "take". Secure campsites are preferable to just parking up at random on the roadside. Looking forward to ride🙂.
The only thing that disappoints me about your videos is that it's not viewed by more people. How you not yet have 1.67 million subscribers and 5 million views for this episode alone is a travesty of this algorithm.
Not going to lie. The India series was stressful for me to watch. So happy Trudy was not injured in any way. Marianne you are a very skilled driver. I have been to SA twice and have driven the amazing country. You are going love it. The country is stunning and my heart belongs to to Africa. 😮
I am so excited for South Africa 😊 India was an experience with mixed emotions ❤ I am just AMAZED at Marianne's driving 🎉 I was having anxiety just watching. All in all I enjoyed it all.
You truly have nerves of steel! I am in awe. Thank you for this wonderful part of your journey - India through new eyes. Your can-do attitude shows that some limitations are in our head & some like protecting your wellbeing in extreme heat are vital.
Awesome video as always Chris and Marianne. Congratulations on making it to South Africa 🇿🇦. India 🇮🇳 was a unique place to overland through can’t wait to see South Africa through y’all’s eyes 👀. Thank for letting us ride along with y’all on y’all’s journey around the world 🌎.
You’ll love Africa, i backed from Cape Town up the east coast into Swaziland and Mozambique finishing in Jo’burg so many wonderful memories from that trip.
Welcome to South Africa!! I am thrilled that you are visiting us. I hope this will be a wonderful, memorable trip travelling through our beautiful country. Just beware of the potholes!! 😀
Wat een prachtige beelden hebben jullie ons laten zien we hebben alleen maar genoten en wat een stuurmanskunst heeft marianne ik hoop dat jullie blijven vloggen en een goede reis terug naar Engeland top👍👩❤️👨😘
Finally you are in a country at the right time of the year, winter, which is fantastic, I don’t think it will be too cold, as it’s Africa. My childhood was spent growing up in East Africa, I hope you manage to get there, wonderful people, spectacular game parks and scenery.
Welcome yo South Africa. I have been following you all over and can not believe you are just 2 hours' drive from me now. You have to come north pas Richards Bay and go to the game reserve Hluhluwe. Or even to the Kruger National Park. You will enjoy our beautiful country. Just watch out for our taxi. They can be a danger on the roads. Lizzie in Richards Bay
Welcome to SA so happy you got through all that Mayhem traffic. Hope you have a wonderful time. Yvonne and Andre. We live in Cape Town. Hope we can see you
What is wonderful are your smiles and their smiles , such a simple but effective way of communicating between cultures. Why don't we all try this that's the way forward?
So sneaky. I have been following you around the world wondering where next. Such a surprise that you are in South Africa. Welcome (I realize this video is delayed) 😊
If nothing else, the fact you got out of India with no real incidents on the roads is a bloody miracle. And the confusion at the weighbridge was just bizarre.
OMG - Durban !!! I used to live in Durban (13 years I lived there) I can't wait to see how you guy's get on in joyy Durbs. Lunch at The Oyster Box Hotel in Umhlanga is an absolute must!!! or the Beverley Hills hotel (next door) do a fantastic smorgasbord on a Sunday.
I got to watch your travel vlogs just recently and want to say I enjoyed your your videos very much. I laughed so much and you brought back memories of my own time in India, the chaos on the roads, the hooting and said if you can master driving in India then you can drive anywhere. As content creators you have been excellent and entertaining. I am sorry that your travel will be ending by end August or beginning September and hope we will get to see more travel adventures going forward. You are both amazing and Marianne I take my hat off to you , you have travelled roads that left me in awe your driving skills are amazing. May God shower you both with His Blessings.
What a relief!.. I own a Toyota Alphard in Malaysia ,.. seeing you drove Trudy through those narrow roads made me imagine how is it be if I drove the same narrow roads using my Toyota Alphard.. it made me swet..
Over 50 years ago I toured India in my VW van that was shipped from Australia. I had absolutely none of the problems that you seem to experience. Shipping OK, border and customs OK, insurance OK, no problems with documentation (carnet) . Arrived in the UK with the overland experience as a lifelong memory. Bruce
Oh we can only dream to have had the opportunity to travel and overland in those times .... My Aunt Julia tells me the same when she did it in 1967 ... But we just keep going via whatever route possible and are living our best lives - woo hoo 🚐🇬🇧🌷
Three cheers for Marianne for the driving and horning like a pro! That was on the edge of our seats stressful even to watch let alone the two of you in the situation day after day. Three cheers for Chris as well being so calm (well at least on camera 😄) and not having a screaming meltdown like I would have been. Three cheers for Trudy for getting through it like a champ! Her poor horn but it could have been much worse. Don't get me wrong I thoroughly appreciate these videos and seeing so much of India through your videos is just truly amazing. Once again it is the kindness that is bestowed upon you both from strangers that touches our hearts as we watch them. Even the ones waving to you from the side of the road and all of those that help you along the way. Now I hope you have some time at a spa or other location but something that is soothing to you both. You both deserve it. 💞
Can’t lie, I’m hoping for more relaxing viewing 😂. Really looking forward to this next leg. Well done to both of you for surviving India. Truly astonishing 😮. X
Marianne u must be the best driver in the world. India is CHAOTIC!!!! Well done. Have just started following your travels and am booked. Well done both of you 🎉
Cheers!! 🥂 I have a US driver's license and a Costa Rican driver's license, I have driven all over Europe & Turkey and never have I encountered driving like I've been seeing in India! 😮And all three are still intact! 😊Amazing driving! 🎉Congratulations! 🎉
Cheers to Marianne, she is amazing, she deserves a medal for her driving abilities. You are an aamazing couple you have showsn us your viewers what is possible if you put your mind to it, what an incredible achievement , memories you will treasure for the rest of your lives.
From South Africa there are beautiful options to drive further all the way to Victoria Falls and Angola! I have been driving from Luanda to Livingstone and back again myself. Fantastic roads and scenery and places to stay. Looking forward to the continuation of your journey!
Trudy been driven against the queues of lorries near the Mumbai port seems like karma when you have shown and commented the Indian vehicles driving against traffic and some seen driving at the wrong side of the road. Like they say when in Rome, do as the Romans do. So kudos to you, that you did it once in India! 😉 Truly I am enjoying every moment of your thread the globe. Stay safe. Looking forward for many of your upcoming videos 🎉✌️🙏 Greetings from 🇲🇾 🇲🇾
I found the Indian travles facinating, especially the driving. no wild camping or camp grounds makes van living difficult I guess. happy trails to you, great podcasts
Well, I wouldn't have guessed your next country. I had been thinking about where you were going next but many of the countries close to India are pretty unstable at the moment. Looking forward to next Sunday to see what you get up to.
Wow - even though I welcomed you already when you arrived, WELCOME once more. Now you are traveling around our beautiful country and continent. As you have already said you have fallen in love with Africa and I knew you two would!
I am constantly amazed at the amount of trash strewn seemingly everywhere!!! I was in India for a month about 20 years ago and little seemingly has changed!!! Your mention that the shipping process for the van never goes smoothly. My experience was that NOTHING ever went smoothly!! (and I toured with an Indian friend from Mumbai, a private van, driver and translator!!). There was certainly mush unique to see and do bot would I return----no! Really enjoy your vids---takes me back!!! And,like you, the heat nearly killed me---along with a couple other things! ! !
Just found you on RUclips 3 weeks ago! I'm binging. Its so beautiful, informative and perfectly filmed. Turkey is my favorite. Wish i would have known when you were at the Grand Canyon cause i live 2 hours away in Sedona, Arizona.
Hi, you are two brave road warriors. Glad to see you have arrived in my home country. It is a great place, just take care there are some really bad people around. 90% of us are decent and helpful. Lock van at all times. Pull a ignition lead or fuse when possible. Make sure you have a good spare and preferably a tire inflator sealer to shorten a stop in the middle of no where. Do enjoy.
Looks like Trudy got a case of laryngitis at the end of her horn beeping. Well timed tho. At least shes getting a well earned rest🎉 All the countries you have travelled through so far have been thoroughly wonderful both their people and environments, Still traveling along with you, Thanks for the invite and hard work that you both put in.🧬🌍👋
Enjoy South Africa! We drove in convoy with brother and sister in law and their two ddaughter from Durban to Cape Town last winter, after self driving for two weeks in Namibia, safaris in Botswana and staying with friends in Zambia. We love Africa!
What a journey, loving it. I feel like I’m in the van watching everything with you. Your videos are so good and you both have amazing skills. Hope you come to Oz one day. Take care.
I’m not gonna lie. I’ve enjoyed every one of your episodes but these in India have just made me anxious. Looking forward to Africa. All the props to Marianne, I would have rolled into a ball and screamed if I had to experience this in real life. Halfway into the ball part just by watching.
Who would've thought there were multiple options for what you wanted when driving a vehicle onto a weighbridge! Stressful driving - yes 3 Cheers Marianne and hopefully a few days of peace
How exciting watching your arrival in my old home city; welcome and enjoy albeit your short drive through beautiful South Africa; may I caution you to not sleep in Trudy due to safety concerns; to the charming couple stay calm and travel on you almost there!! It would be interesting to know which route you navigating through? Stay SAFE!! A fan 🇨🇦
Wow, what an adventure!!! The both of you are a great team, Team work makes the dream work, and you too are making it work!!! 👍❤️👍Thanks for sharing 😊 YEAH SOUTH AFRICA 🇿🇦 👏 🙌 😀
Omg. Welcome to my home town. I live in Durban South Africa. I am so excited you are here. It is a beautiful time of the year here now. Our winters are sunny beautiful days and a little chilly at night. Thats in Durban. Gauteng etc is a bit more chilly.I hope you will get a Game reserve in along your travels and see Cape Town as well. And also the Drakensburg Mountains is a must see. Welcome....welcome.
Good job Marianne and Chris ❤❤Amazing people and travels ,so looking forward to the next adventure! India was special and you nailed it completely! Expert driver Marianne and the best co pilot in Chris ❤❤Safe travels and see you in the next one ☝️
Speedys yard at Mumbai docks, good memories to that guys who loaded your van, i did ship my car in 2022 from there to Port Kelang. I can imagine you had problems getting iranian visa as your are english, if not, you miss the best part of the trip I did from Belgium to Cambodia. Curious how long it took you from arriving in Mumbai, until leaving Durban and being back on the road ??? And how expensive it was. I put some info on ioverlander about Speedys yard. Was also waiting for hours in the same warehouse, hhahahah, keep on rolling !!!
You are amazing. Menopause in the heat of India, makes me feel exhausted and uncomfortable just thinking about it. Really enjoy your videos. All the best for the next leg of your journey. 😘
My wife is from South Africa, we have driven it extensively, if you thought the potholes in India were bad.........at least the major freeways are better and people don't drive down the wrong side of the road. Be careful, you will love the scenery. It's simply stunning in the Drakensburg Mountains.
At 22:02 in the video you see the truck having his left indicator (blinker) on he was telling you the road is clear to your right & his left. He was actually trying to help you as you didn't have the complete visibility.
When you 1st said that you’d be in a country where you could sleep in Trudy, I guessed somewhere in Europe , but then you’d be too close to home. Then I guessed South Africa . and I was right , because the seasons are opposite, so it will be cooler !

Shouldn't they be warned/cautioned for their safety on the roads there? We hear it can be dangerous for hijacking etc Just a pause for thought.

Take care.
Thanks so much!
I’m not gonna lie. I’ve enjoyed every one of your episodes but these in India have just made me anxious. Looking forward to Africa. All the props to Marianne, I would have rolled into a ball and screamed if I had to experience this in real life. Halfway into the ball part just by watching.
Cheers to an amazing journey..to an amazing driver and an amazing vlogger ❤❤
you both are amazing!!!
South Africa!!! My gosh what next 😊
Hip hip hooray to Marianne! I am so happy you will be in SA soon.
Who would've thought there were multiple options for what you wanted when driving a vehicle onto a weighbridge! Stressful driving - yes 3 Cheers Marianne and hopefully a few days of peace
Amazing journey across India, well done for braving the wild traffic and heat. Marianne has all my admiration!
Stay SAFE!! A fan 🇨🇦

Jippee... So happy you are in South Africa. Enjoy the visit and journey.
Very nice apt.! We are going to South Africa next year.
You both are so inspiring! Wish you luck and happy driving
Yahoooo noticed the steers straight away , my home town enjoy xx

Welcome to South Africa. Enjoy the people and the food. ❤
Excellent show thank you and Trudy too.
What a shame you didn't enjoy India. I loved it when I spent a year driving around there in 1978 in my VW campervan...but traffic is much worse now.
I’m sure getting out of that hot weather was another reason to go to South Africa.
Cheers to the best driver🥂well done Marianne, you’re a star👏
You are amazing. Menopause in the heat of India, makes me feel exhausted and uncomfortable just thinking about it. Really enjoy your videos. All the best for the next leg of your journey. 😘
Welcome to South Africa, trust you're going to have great safe travels here, from Pretoria S A, would love to meet you 😊
My wife is from South Africa, we have driven it extensively, if you thought the potholes in India were bad.........at least the major freeways are better and people don't drive down the wrong side of the road. Be careful, you will love the scenery. It's simply stunning in the Drakensburg Mountains.
At 22:02 in the video you see the truck having his left indicator (blinker) on he was telling you the road is clear to your right & his left. He was actually trying to help you as you didn't have the complete visibility.
Yayyyyyy you in my country south Africa. Please stay safe, enjoy the drive the scenery Shaka world❤🎉
Welcome to beautiful South Africa, have a safe trip.
Adrienne Louw from Cape Town, voted the most beautiful city in the world.
When you 1st said that you’d be in a country where you could sleep in Trudy, I guessed somewhere in Europe , but then you’d be too close to home. Then I guessed South Africa . and I was right , because the seasons are opposite, so it will be cooler !
Welcome to SA. Durban. Have a blessed journey further.
