Wait a few years. Perhaps your brain will heal back to normal and you might not need the diet, or find out that you just shouldn't do it

My best friend started a medical trial out of Stanford University doing the same diet for the same reason. It has been amazing for her.

This is interesting. I've Crohn's and for 19 years I've treated it via Keto. I've also a son who is schizophrenic. I've never made my family follow the same diet but the past 7-8 years we've had a basic rule that my son could not have high fructose corn syrup and if he wanted sugar it had to be Real sugar and only at very special times. Each of those times came a discussion with him about how needed to Manage himself....because every time he had it, psychosis would follow with a day or so. This was before his diagnosis, but now he has it because he's turned 18 and does his own foods and he went south hard. Forcing us to hospitalize him and getting the diagnosis. I need to find studies on this as it's the first time I've heard of Diet truly influencing it

I have a friend that uses medical ketosis to treat her epilepsy. As long as she doesn't cheat, she has zero seizures.

I have paranoid schizophrenia and I am doing keto too. I tried having cheat days, the first time I didn't feel too good but the second time my symptoms didn't get much worse.

Good info. though. How long is this therapy- ongoing and permanent or is it for a fe2w months? Do you monitor your liver and kidney function. Meat can be a little rough on the kidneys...then again, so can carbs! I am glad you are doing well on this protocol. You can be a role model for others and this is important work- medical nutrition/Keto.

I think strictly following a ketogenic diet is a serious medical intervention. It was actually originally developed to deal with types of epilepsy by starving the brain of carbohydrates. I'm glad it's working for you.

I'm 3 weeks in on med keto and haven't cheated but thanks for video... I drink litres of diet fizzy pop but just yesterday decided to try just for water and electrolyte drinks and I didn't think about the fake sweet being detrimental... Always new diet fizzy pop was a terrible chemical drink though hope I can stick to it! PS I don't cheat .. only oat milk at work for coffees so I had hot water ha

The sweet taste alone can spike your insulin response even if it doesn't kick you out of ketosis.
