Then before you know it, her work is done and she flies off to help others. Speaking as what was a 15 year old boy in 1985, this movie is closer to fact than fiction.
Kelly LeBrock as Lisa is the epitome of '80s pin up girl. Also, Anthony Michael Hall getting drunk in the bar scene is still one of the most hilarious scenes to this day. He can do both drama and comedy so well.
Thanks for not PC'ing this. I watched this on VCR when it came out and I was about the same age as the main characters. I absolutely loved it. LeBrock was my goddess.
"Sex drugs rock and roll Chips dips chains whips You know the basic high school orgy type of thing" Seeing this in the '80s was when the "Chips dips chains whips" phrase entered my vocabulary
One of the best comedies of all times. Imagine having the courage and lack of inhibition of the Lisa character; being willing to experience anything while having fun at it.
Kelly LeBrock is famous for saying don't hate me because I'm beautiful... In a commercial from the 80s. This is one of my favorites loved the reaction.😍
It says something - about her, or me, or truth, justice, and the American way - that although I recall the ad _very_ well, for the life of me I can't recall the _product!_ 🤔 😕
Another Fun Fact: The character of Lisa, played by Kelly LeBrock, was named after a computer made by Apple that proceeded the Apple Macintosh, but wasn't a big selling computer
In the 80s almost every teenage boy had at least one of these posters on the wall of their room. Farrah Fawcett, Valerie Bertinelli, Brooke Shields and Kelly LaBrock.
The summer of 1985 had four movies that were science related comedies. Back to the future, weird science, my science project, and real genius. Back to the future is definitely the best of them, but real genius is awesome.
This has grown on me over the years. I remember when it opened in Aug/85. none of my friends liked the movie at the time. Another movie opened that same weekend and became the sleeper hit of 1985 and all my friends loved it as much as Back to the Future, "Fright Night". One of the best vampire movies ever made. A must watch.
I can tell you I didn't necessarily have a thing for RDJ back then, I thought his friend was better looking. When this came out, my little sister and her friends came home and recited the whole bar scene with Anthony's speech. I laughed so hard and had to go see the movie. Of course, I absolutely fell in love with the movie and still quote it today. "Look at his haircut, anybody with a haircut like that he must be an asshole"😂😂😂Thanks ladies😊
Loved that you girls enjoyed *(Weird/Strange Science)* this was a childhood classic for me. It's not always praised as high as the other *John Hughes Movies* because it leans more towards a boy movie but everyone can enjoy it as you gals did... *(Sixteen Candles)* *(The Breakfast Club)* *(Weird Science)* *(Ferris Bueller's Day Of)* *(Trains Plans & Automobiles)* *(Uncle Buck)*
I do laugh with this movie but the first time watching this movie and probably a few more times afterwards it was mainly Kelly LeBrock that I was concentrating on. Great memories and I'm holding onto them! Michelle and Natalie it's always a Joy. Cheer's Beautiful Ladies.xx
Watched this 1st time when i was 11 in VHS. Kelly LeBrock is this left me with a huge crush and also set my "type" without me knowing it. Most of my girlfriends and eventually my wife had some resemblance to Lisa. Something that my dad pointed out to me when we watched this on TV the night before my wedding 😂.
Actually, if you think about it, Weird Science is kind of a cross between Frankenstein and Mary Poppins. A very 80s teenage boy hormonal cross between the two, but it's quite obvious. Lisa, like Mary Poppins, is there to help them (Gary and Wyatt) grow up. And like Mary Lisa is Magic. Except Gary and Wyatt make their Mary Poppin (Lisa) like Frankenstein makes his monster.
The title song was performed by Oingo Boingo, headlined by Danny Elfman. They also appeared in the Rodney Dangerfield film, Back to School, also featuring a young Robert Downey Jr.
I think of John Hughes movies as "bonding" movies. They are all about people who are alienated from others in some way, connecting with them again. In this case it is Gary and Wyatt "leaving the bathroom", stopping seeing themselves as lonely nerds, getting girlfriends and gaining respect in high school society. Also Chet learns to stop bullying Wyatt and see him as a brother.
The biker who says he could lose he teaching job was also in the original The Hills Had Eyes. I believe the biker with the shotgun was in the original Mad Max
I miss John Hughs films. They were always outrageous but the characters were believable. It is probably because his movies that when I got into my 20's I dated young women that were 5 to 10 years older than me. I was chasing my Kelly LeBrock.
I love how when they wake up the next day and everything seems back to normal that they are playing the theme from The Exorcist in the background. 10:50
Growing up in the 80’s was wild. If anyone wonders why Generation X is a little out there… this is what we were raised on. No parental supervision. We were raised by John Hughes, Stephen Spielberg and James Cameron.

@txaggievet When Chet bursts in on Wyatt and Hilly, that seems to be his sister Chloe’s room, and there are shelves with figurines and dolls, so I think you’re right about that.
I saw this via a VHS rental back in the eighties. Back then, here in the UK, you could go to a rental shop and rent any movie you wanted regardless of it's certificate, which we did most weekends, although that didn't include porn! By the end of the eighties new laws were introduced which imposed age restrictions as per the certificate of the movie. Ah, the good old days!
@@octaviussludberry9016 Whilst films did have certificates we could absolutely rent age restricted videos from shops and from "video men" who would go door to door with a car boot full of VHS tapes for rental, I specifically remember seeing The Exorcist at around eight years old whilst at a sleep over, suffice to say it scarred me for life!. I'm pretty sure I saw this before '88 and it wasn't at the cinema.
Kelly LeBrok was overheard talking by the song writer for Man Eater by Hall & Oats. Apparently she had quite a salty mouth and that was the start of that famous song.

I saw this in the 80's and the music is so iconic to the movie and times. Every time I see the title anywhere, I hear the Oingo Boingo title song, "Weird Science" in my mental juke box.
What I love best about this movie is the soundtrack! This is one of Danny Elfman's early movie soundtrack contribution (via his 80s band, Oingo Boingo). Before this, they did Bachelor Party, Sixteen Candles, Fast Times, The Last American Virgin and some lesser-known movies. It wouldn't be Elfman's last, nor his greatest - but you get a sense of what would become soundtracks from Corpse Bride, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Men in Black and over 100 more great movies.
OIngo Boingo actually appeared in Back to School, playing Dead Man's party at a party thrown by Thorton Melon (Rodney Dangerfield). They were also on the Teen Wolf, Too soundtrack (Who Do You Want to Be).
Great reaction ladies!! This movie was a constant in my early life (and still is). I was 7 when this came out, had it on VHS and watched the crap out of it! Got the DVD when that was a thing - and happily shared this with my boys when the time was right! We all love it. So many quotable lines my wife, myself and my kids use. Yes, Kelly LeBrock was beautiful, certainly a stunner, and I LOVED the humour in this - it's a zany and crazy 80's comedy - full of the common tropes of the time (awesome music, wild parties, and the requisite T&A, even the bad guys from Mad Max!) My kids love the depiction of the 'internet' or computer hacking shown in all it's ridiculousness! 5 out of 5 for me. For another zany 80's comedy, this time with John Cusack, Demi Moore - check out One Crazy Summer! Cheers!
Anthony Michael Hall, Farmer Ted in 16 Candles, the picture his Mom showed Dad was Ted. And if course Brian, like me, in Breakfast Club. So glad you two reacted hat it was...a comedy. Have see so many young girls react, getting angry, that it's only for teen boys to like...I was in college when watched it on cable, Kelly LeBrock, it was her photo they put in computer, she was a model. Watched a 2024 movie this summer, Air Force 1 Down, secret service protecting President, he was the Director, and his adult daughter in SService...long way from this! Both looking as beautiful as ever 😍
@@ForceOfLightEntertainment The blond girl is in Return of the living dead 2 and killer clowns from outer space... She retired from acting and is now a lawyer....
Great reaction. Always love your ladies reactions. This movies was classic 80s. While this was a comedy it was about Lisa trying to help these young boys become good men. They lack confidence, were a bit awkward. Lisa pushed them out of their comfort zone in ways to help them grow. The boys basically created a woman not fully knowing what they really truly wanted in a woman. They knew aspects, but Lisa (Kelly LeBrock) nailed the woman trying to help these boys become men, but in funny way. She also pointed out when they failed..."In your race for power and glory...etc" She wanted them to do right thing..which isn't always easy. :)
Fun fact: the producer that did this movie also did Predator 1&2 , LETHAL WEAPON movies, the MATRIX movies, Road House, the warriors, die hard 1&2, Commando, Romeo must die, 48 hours, street of fire, exit wound, cradle to the grave, KISS KISS BANG BANG, the last boy scout, The nice guys😊
The name of the movie was taken from a song by a really unusual new wave band named Oingo Boingo. Created by Danny Elfman, and originally called The Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo. Danny Elfman was a somewhat strange guy who, while having moderate success with Oingo Boingo, found his calling years later in a different branch of the music industry. Scoring movies. You might have seen some of the movies he wrote music for. Pretty much any Tim Burton movie, Mission Impossible, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Good Will Hunting, Spiderman ... I'll stop because he's scored more than a hundred movies. Not bad for a kid from LA who worked as a street performer in Paris eating fire.
I think it was Mike Myers (as "Wayne" on Saturday Night Live) who said of Mme. Le Brock, "Don't hate her because she's beautiful - hate her because _she says_ she is!" 😁
Growing up in the 90s, I have fond memories of the tv series (which is the dvd cover you used at the beginning 😆). It was produced by the same people who did Parker Lewis Can't Lose. The movie has a great premise but the tv series used it even better - one different wish for every episode. They even spoofed Quantum Leap or slasher movies, it was wild. One thing for sure, you couldn't make it today. 😄
The TV show was even funnier than the movie from what I remember. Vanessa Angel rocked as Lisa and the stories were just great. Too bad it's not as remembered as much as the movie.
In the intro you used the Weird Science TV show title screen instead of the Weird Science movie title screen. Not complaining Vanessa Angel is as easy in the eyes as Kelly LeBrock.
Another piece of my childhood. Chet is my favorite character. Partially because i had a friend that looked just like him when we were younger, crew cut and all. He had some of the more memorable lines in the movie. I have a 9 year old daughter and if she's eating something at the table, i will occasionally walk by and say, "That looks pretty good. You should make yourself some." and then proceed to take her plate just to get a reaction from her. Kelly LeBrock, who played Lisa was one of the hottest women of the time. I still remember her Pantene commercial with the famous line 'Don't hate me because I'm beautiful." Any chance you ladies would add "One Crazy Summer" starring John Cusack and Demi Moore or "Summer School" starring Mark Harman and Kirstie Alley to your 80s comedy watchlist?
So many classic and hilarious scenes featuring every cast member. Kudos writers! Slightly cringe bits here and there, sure, but what works worked well.
1985 was my last high school year and me and my classmates watched it in the theater. Of course we all went because of Kelly Lebrock and we had a lot of fun watching it.Thank you so much for reacting to it . Pure nostalgia. I think you also will like Tootsie with Dustin Hoffman.
Have you two seen Michael Anthony Hall in Sixteen Candles? Molly Ringwald plays the main character in it and Michael plays The Geek, as he's called in the credits. I think you two would really like this movie like you do this one.
I used to think of "The Breakfast Club" as my favorite of the Hughes films and it probably still is, but I am more likely to pop this in or "Sixteen Candles." Good quick and silly, and a fun scenario to imagine from that younger perspective.
I'm guessing someone probably has mentioned it already, but the poster image at the beginning was for the TV series, not the movie. All of John Hughes films are classics, and "Weird Science" was a fun, out-there experiment by him after he just did "The Breakfast Club" with Anthony. Previous to that, Anthony was in his "Sixteen Candles", from which the young framed image of him being shown by him mother was from. That was literally his casting image. Kelly LeBrock was at her all-time prime in both beauty and recognition during this film with her various "Don't hate me because I'm beautiful" shampoo ads. With the mutant bikers invasion, the one with the conehead was Michael Berryman, who did a lot of horror films back then, especially "The Hills Have Eyes" and the lead biker was the always memorable Vernon Wells, who was riffing of his character from "Mad Max 2-Road Warrior", which I highly recommend viewing. The soundtrack to "Weird Science" instantly makes an 80s fan giddy with the great Oingo Boingo songs and the score by Ira Newborn. I put this 43-song together back in 2011 when a friend shared with me the rare Newborn score tracks. You name a soundtrack from the 80s era and I more than likely have it in digital form, either officially released complete and/or extended with all of the songs heard in the movie (in play order); or officially done, but not fully extended due to missing hard-to-find songs, or incomplete since an official soundtrack was never made. Bring my current total of soundtracks to 807. :) If you want to see Anthony before this finally Hughes outing, definitely check out "Sixteen Candles" and "The Breakfast Club". As for Bill Paxton, what can one say other than he was fantastic as always. He never failed to entertain in all of film roles.
Check out the 80s movie 'The Dead Zone' starring Christopher Walken. Anthony Michael Hall (Gary) later starred in the television series of The Dead Zone.

The mutant with a mohawk was a mutant in the movie Mad Max 2 the Road Warrior which had come out in 1981.
she blinded me with science...
😂
@@ForceOfLightEntertainment The blond girl is in Return of the living dead 2 and killer clowns from outer space... She retired from acting and is now a lawyer....
One of my favorite 80's comedy movies.
Welcome to the minds of 15 year old boys. Yes I saw this as a teen myself and really thought Lisa was amazing.
Only Paxton could play Chet. 😆
Bill Paxton was HILLARIOUS in Titanic. Check it out. 🤣
This is my favorite movie of all time.
Stella is a remake of the classic On the Waterfront. Simon Birch is a great one as well. Stella and Simon Birch!!
"Do you realize it's snowing in my room..." always makes me laugh.
😂
@@ForceOfLightEntertainment A good movie to watch is ` Vamp ` with Grace Jones....
Oh yea Downy Jr was definitely one of the magazine cover worthy teen heartthrobs in those days.
The blonde was in Fools Rush In…she was constantly after Mathew Perry’s character
I think it was Mike Myers (as "Wayne" on Saturday Night Live) who said of Mme. Le Brock, "Don't hate her because she's beautiful - hate her because _she says_ she is!" 😁
I saw this movie the day it came out. A real classic. You're dropping wolf bait and there's chicks outside.
The blonde girl was in night of the creeps, And return of the living dead 2.Also killer clowns from outer space...
The blonde was in killer clowns from outer space and I think she was also in return of the living dead 2
I miss Bill Paxton so much. First time I saw this, I literally spit my drink out when he took off his towel and told him to cover up.
So many classic and hilarious scenes featuring every cast member. Kudos writers! Slightly cringe bits here and there, sure, but what works worked well.
1985 was my last high school year and me and my classmates
watched it in the theater. Of course we all went because of Kelly Lebrock and we had a lot of fun watching it.Thank you so much for reacting to it . Pure nostalgia. I think you also will like Tootsie with Dustin Hoffman.
Thanks for watching!
I can only dream that one day I'll come home to a blob that says hi dude. I'd like to see a reaction to One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest.
Have you two seen Michael Anthony Hall in Sixteen Candles? Molly Ringwald plays the main character in it and Michael plays The Geek, as he's called in the credits. I think you two would really like this movie like you do this one.
Anthony Michael Hall’s characters always has an alleged gf in Canada,,, in an another movie as well 😂
Being from Cincinnati, the best part of this movie is the part where Garett says his parents went to Cincinnati.
I had this movie on VHS when I was a kid so,naturally,I watched it many times.always entertaining.and I liked the blond girl
I used to think of "The Breakfast Club" as my favorite of the Hughes films and it probably still is, but I am more likely to pop this in or "Sixteen Candles." Good quick and silly, and a fun scenario to imagine from that younger perspective.
This was my introduction to Bill Paxton. Hope you two watch him in Near Dark and give us a reaction to it.
We are but fans of his!
The lady in this movie the one they created was actually married to Steven Seagal the martial artist
Check out the 80s movie 'The Dead Zone' starring Christopher Walken. Anthony Michael Hall (Gary) later starred in the television series of The Dead Zone.
22:40
The actress in this scene was a Playboy playmate prior to filming this movie, and she'd actually did her own stunts too
Hello Michelle & Natalie!😊 Nice to see you Michelle, and the always gorgeous redhead Natalie!🌹 This is a fun 80s comedy, which are really in with viewers right. You are right, it is directed by John Hughes.😉 Our female star here Kelly LeBrock was married to martial arts actor Steven Seagal. This film spawned a TV sitcom by the same name starring Vanessa Angel. She has a part in another fun and popular 80s film called "Spies Like Us" (1985) starring Dan Akroyd and Chevy Chase. Robert Downey Jr. is sometimes considered part of The Brat Pack, a group of popular young actors in the 80s. Great reactions to this silly 80s comedy, Ladies!!!!🎬👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Hello Mike! 🤗
Thank you!!
The blonde girl is Suzanne Snyder. I don't know of anything that she's been in but the brunette is Judie Aronson. She's been in several movies that I know including Friday the 13 part 4
Saw it in the movie theater, fun, wacky movie, Kelly was beautiful in the movie, good review by u girls 🤘😎👍
1. Movie magic: Just before the first motorcycle hits the glass door the breakaway glass shatters before the hit.
2. My favorite character is Chet. The Late Bill Paxton KILLS😇
3. The guy in the bar that gave Gary his hat played Carl in, "The Breakfast Club".
4. Movie magic: More than just a cup full of ICEE fell on the guys.
5. "Toss off". How about "Spank the monkey"?
6. Hilly or Deb? Hilly😍😋😈
