      People love to buy empty tubs at garage sales. Too many tubs around means you will want to fill them up again.

    If you are up for letting the yellow lego box go (if not, no big deal), you could consider putting the legos you are adding to the garage sale into it. There's something mental when shopping at garage sales about seeing legos in a box like that - they're like a kid magnet. :)

    Excellent job!! Wow, what an improvement in decision making and letting go. What if you take the green Christmas bin and Christmas area rugs that are rolled up and put them in the Christmas cave? That way everything is in the same place for when you go to declutter and decorate next Christmas

    For the christmas lights, what if the bulbs were all removed now and stored in a small box with the christmas lights you hang up? That way when one goes out it can still be replaced but it wont take up so much room. Edit: Just saw some other comments saying this too! Great minds think alike! ❤

    Post yard sale when you have that space open up, plan what you are going to do with it so it doesn’t become filled again! Maybe make it your craft area and start relocating those items over there and then you have a designated area to work in. It’s ok if it’s not the final spot, but just like the play area, it holds up better when it is designated 👍 so excited for you!

    • @diananelson327
      @diananelson327 2 года назад +6

      And have a designated exercise area with the bike included.

    Take a bow 🙇‍♀️ Miss Heart ❤️ that was absolutely brilliant. I love when you find empty boxes and the space it opens is amazing. I can’t believe the size of the pile going, wow. Miss Pepper is doing a wonderful job supervising too and her exploring areas are getting bigger every week too. You truly are an inspiration and a motivator for me and so many others. I can’t wait for the yard sale. Stay safe and healthy. Mary, Joes wife 👏👍💪🙏💐🙇‍♀️🥳🦄

    Something I've found useful is putting things on the curb on a non trash day with a "free" sign. You know that anyone willing to take a stationary bike off the curb really wants it, because its pretty cumbersome to move. I find things disappear fast!

      @jennybird2770 2 года назад +3

      I do this too! It really works for us. Haven't had to go to the donation center for a long time doing this. And people can really use the financial break of it being free with the current economy. :) Have a beautiful day

      That’s a popular strategy where I live. Scrap lumber, old furniture, bigger toys- it all gets rehomed - the best form of recycling since it requires nothing other than pickup

    If your moms exercise bike still brings you joy you can put it in the area with the other workout equipment. It’s so nice that you guys have a space to work out, soon craft, and a play area. Such amazing amazing progress!! I cannot believe you to rocker it today!

Maybe you can get the boys to bag up some legos into small bags that seems to go together well. I think the boys will enjoy that!. @makingsunshine3292 2 года назад

    I just want to say, I think it’s pretty amazing how quickly you were able to go through this section and how much you were able to toss compared to when you first started. I randomly found your videos last year (2021) when my baby was still tiny and exclusively nursing (aka binge watching RUclips and Netflix 🙄). I have appreciated learning from you as I’m not sure I would’ve recognized otherwise that I have some hoarder tendencies myself with huge sentimental attachments. I love the befores and afters of your spaces you declutter, super satisfying, and so encouraging that you do a little at a time and you listen to your mind and body. I also love that your husband seems to be very supportive of your process as well as your progress and that is so lovely; not all are blessed with loving support. ❤️
    May the Lord continue to bless you and your family, and thank you for doing videos, it’s very encouraging to see real life struggles and that it’s a continual process. 🤗
    Much love from this Alaska mama!❤️

    My husband is in the garbage industry and I hope my thoughts can settle your mind about landfills. My husband looks at them as temporary storage units. There is technology that uses trash and turns it into energy. Unfortunately it is extremely expensive at this point and for the most part people don’t want to pay the extra expense. Eventually technology will improve, like all technology, and it will become cost effective to use. Until that time landfills are “storage units”. Landfills are also often cleaner for the environment, less carbon footprint than taking items to recycling facilities. Other facility burn garage which emits gas. Google pros and cons of landfills. Hopefully this info will help you feel less guilty about sending actual trash to a landfill.

    I love these basement videos.
    I'm super looking forward to you having a dedicated craft area. It has made ALL the difference for me. This long holiday weekend, I'm actually separating my sewing/fabric and yarn from the rest of my craft supplies. That will stay in the sweatshop I have set up in my basement. All the other crafty stuff is coming upstairs into the den/office.
    Having 5 sewing machines, 2 sergers, and a coverstitch machine ALL set up and useable makes sewing very easy. Having no additional flat surfaces to do the other stuff (jewelry, paper crafts, etc.) makes it harder to do those things.
    I'd love to see Hubby's exercise area expanded to include your elliptical (or is it a tteadmill?) And your Mom's bike.

    Does that help you or make it more likely thst nothing gets done. Me, I need to dump or place or do whatever ASAP
    No, I’ll scrub it later or x,y,z later because I know later will be just as chaotic and busy as now or even more so.

    I worked on a big declutter at church today, I filled my trunk with art materials and gave them to the local elementary school. You got the shelf, the fireplace parts, the Christmas lights (wire), that box stuff you found and maybe more. Takes the light bulbs off the old wire label them in a baggie put in your Christmas stuff. Are you putting all your Christmas bins your finding in the Christmas cave, lol, so they will be all together for fall to go through? wow! you killed it today! and I can see how much space you'll gain after the yard sale too. an idea is that if you have anything left after the yard sale is to buy it from yourself and just donate it before it comes back in your home, and use that money as a reward for yourself like a manicure or massage! I hope that made sense. kind of like how you'll buy your kids toys from them to encourage them to declutter, and then donate them.

    Hey Miss Heart! Another fab video! Miss Pepper looked like she was decluttering that plastic bag- haha. ;) As for the salt lamp- oh yes I had a similar experience: I had seen a good size puddle of water dripping from one of my cabinets. I openned the cabinet and the shelf it was on was full of water! I was so surprised and didn't reailise that could happen- even when put away in a cabinet. Haha! Science can be funny. Much love to you and little Pepper. 😻😸❤

    WOW!!!! I absolutely loved this idea, going to areas that you have not decluttered before. You where Speeeeding through all those tossy tossy's!!!
    If there is another area you have not touched please do that for a video in June!!!

    I love your videos keep up the good work, even when you’re not sure what to do with an item- which is rare now, you’re positive and encourage yourself. You really inspire us all.

    You did such a great job! Miss Pepper is soooo proud! 😊 I love Dana K White’s 5 step process. She’s part of the “Take Your House Back” trio along with Dawn The Minimal Mom and Cas of Clutterbug. Dana’s motto is similar to yours. She says “Progress and only Progress.” Her first two steps are simple and no decisions necessary. Step 1 is grab a black garbage bag and just look for “obvious” trash and if that’s all you can do, it’s still going to look better with no hard decisions. Step 2 is “obvious” items that have homes somewhere else.

    If you want to keep the Christmas light bulbs, maybe give the kids a summer money/toy chore of taking off all the bulbs and labeling a baggy.

    Here's a thought about the extra yellow shelf: It may be intended as a 'floor' for the shelving that's slightly raised up from the ground :) It would provide protection from damp or minor flooding (but luckily that's no longer an issue in your basement -- huzzah!)
    Another great video!

    You now have a kiddo play area AND the start to a craft area!
    Starting where you’ve not been before means you can take all your new muscles to the area and make bigger wins, all the times you say let that go….super exciting
