Exactly, that's real talk, DJs should be well rounded when playing music. They have to play the old along with the new and, they have to learn how to be a good MC as a back up plan as well. Nice one Cleveland Terry.
Cleveland Terry what a supee .informative video.. ● I like the way you showed that you can MC a party ● I like the way you showed that not only MC-ed but you DJ-ed ● I like that way that you appeared to have hired a yound DJ and were teaching him and giving him on the job training live at a Gig. How ever you took over because you had to keep the party going. Do yo thang DJ🎧🎤 ● Your post video speach was so so informative. You need.to charge for that information. As one of your subscribers I want to say Thank You for the info.
Agree 100% on all points. Been djaying a bit here in LA and my MCing has gotten better as I record myself and critically listen to what I said, body language, pitch, how clear it sounds and reaction I get by the crowd. Having honest friends and family critique me helps too. Know how to work every button and features of ALL my gear; mixer, software, speakers, mics, lighting, camera, etc. Helps you troubleshoot quickly and correct an issue when something goes wrong. Bend like water as Bruce Lee says but with your business. Oh and knowing old versus new music helps tremendously! Adding remixes or redrums of old school tracks brings new life to them and your dance floor as long as it’s not to far off the original. Knowing what gigs you’re taking helps as well...I’ve never done a bat mitzvah but if I would ever be asked to DJ one, I would shadow another DJ or attend one to know the timeline and formalities. Practice and be a pro before taking an event for someone’s special day they’ll never get back. You only have one shot, one opportunity...Eminem 😉 Peace ✌🏾
This is off topic from the video but is there any way I can add multiple mics to my Reloop Elite and my ddj sr 2 which I use for ceremonies? They both have one trs mic output and I can’t use my dual mic set up. Someone mentioned a small separate mixer? Thanks for any help. Sorry it’s off topic.
I though it was just me LOL that wears a lot of hats... you are 100% I have had Photo Booths go down MCs get Lost DJs without a Clue Keep Up the Good Work REAL TALK
Cleveland Terry Bowens thanks mate. Much love from Australia 🇦🇺. Love your vids and I do watch them as time permits. Keep it going. They are different to the bunch out there.
Great gig man! I gave up doing mitzvahs a while ago. I went from doing probably 60 mitzvahs a year to maybe 15 lol focused more on weddings and club gigs. I use to be terrified to MC but I realize it helped me sell myself better. Do you use a drive rack with your sound system?
Being from Ga., we're in a much smaller market than over there on the west coast so we didn't have a choice but to do everything ourselves. No MCs for hire, and any DJ that wasn't already working a gig wasn't a jock you would want to hire. No roadies, no lighting guys, etc. It was rough. You had to be good at everything.
That was a really good set you laid down. Are your crates aligned by energy level, was that a playlist or was it all freestyle? Just being curious; great mix either way👍
I was a DJ at a wedding recently, the MC was a family member of the bridal party and she shreaked into the microphone. I tried to pull all the top end out with the eq as she hurt my ears. Cringe worthy. I was so happy when she announced she had finished. I think everyone else was as well. Anyone having an event that requires an MC, my advise is get a pro MC. The entertainment makes or breaks your event... Great and honest gig log!
I guess as a business owner you gotta do what you gotta do...hmu I'd like to be on your roster if and when additional help is needed...Im in Whittier so really centralized to get to any venue as long as I'm available and booked in advanced. you can also find me on yelp...DJ Alfonso Y
Is that an LA thing where they really just aren’t interested in the party? I had this same thing where it was like pulling teeth to get people on the floor for the grand entrance. Never had this issue in my OC bar/bat mitzvahs. It was just so disrespectful to the guest of honor I felt like they didn’t give a fuck about it and just wanted to eat and drink and not be on the floor
In 34 years as a dj, I've never used an MC. Perhaps it's not so common here in the Uk, but I can, and have gone out and mceed to an audience myself. I like to be in total control and having someone else with a mic, dealing with MY audience, is a big no no! I have made a good living over the years by just being myself, playing the music, and being my own mc!
I have to put my foot down on the photobooth thing.. i will not invest in it . I would rather have more lights, sound, fog, I feel all the new cellphones/apps have that covered

You are right about that. I also like how you gave the younger Dj some game on the event.

+Amitesh Kumar I use a Panasonic G9. Thanks man. I’ll do a video on what I use soon.
