Gig Log: DJing a 70's Gym Event with live recorded tracks

- DJing a 70s event is probably one of the music difficult genres to spin. When you are dealing with live musical recordings, the bands are not always in sync. Knowing your music and when tempos change is the most important thing when mixing 70's music.

Nice disco set. I call those gigs the easy money stress free gigs.
+Jason Prescod yup
I would love a video about your story. Like what or who got you started and how you built up to level you are now!
My man!!! You mixed the hell outta those disco songs! You just gave a master class on how to mix 70s music. Awesome job!
That's why I love DJing. Seeing people dance to the tracks I play puts me in a happy place. You do good work sir.
Salute from Detroits Lost Son.
Dude grabbing your hand when you went in on the fist bump was quite hilarious.
Andre Brown 😂
Great Key Matching.
Showing that thinking outside the box to provide services to non traditional markets, brilliant as always 😎🎧👍🏻
Bro keep them coming another great video
Awesome mate.
Dope
Man you haven't met a genre of music you can't blend. You make it look so easy and it's not. It's a testament to your skills as a DJ. Thanks for another excellent video!!
The best disco club DJ set I ever heard was from Larry Levan!!! His song selections and his ability to blend mix smoothly with tracks that consistently vary in BPM is pretty impressive. RIP Larry.. you were one of the greatest.
Love your style. That beat mixing is awesome. I’ve been Djing mobile gigs since 1980 till this day. Love your videos brother
Nice mixing skills! Just got the DJ 1000 srt and working my way round it
+DJ Rohan it’s a great board.
Awesome job!!! Dj’ing for a all disco party is on my bucket list!!! One day....one day 🙏🏼
Love the old school. Great job
But I could swear I saw something come across the screen that stated "musicians don't sync" I didn't see any musicians in the video
+Carl Dehoney live musicians recording the music. There are tempo variations.
Excellent 70's tracks.
I Love Playing These Gigs. I Play For A Kick Boxing Club In N.J. They Have Different Theme Nights. Nice Gig Log Great Mixes.
Great Job Young Man!!!!!
+Tee Bizz I like being called young man. 😀
@@ClevelandTerryI am 50 so I do too!!! Gotta hold on 2 it as long as we can!!!!
Damnnnn, Terry can mix his ass off. Big props. Transitions are dope, song selection dope. Heard a few I might have to bite. I'm a proud follower.
Loved the fact that you played Dazz! Takes me back to block parties days.
Bro all those disco bangers just to work out???? Somebody dance!
+Daniel Rocha ha. A travesty.
I know this old and beginner vs pro statement real af.. Sweet recovery tho.. Still on my climb to that type of achievement.
Another great gig log, new DJs take note, this is how a pro DJ does it! Superb, (side note: what camera do you use?) long time sub 🎧🎤😎
Close enough for that set up,new fav channel
Great Music Man! And, great Mixing!
Also would like to see a video on how you organize your music files if you do it all LOL 😁
+GERARD aka DJ GEE man...everybody does it differently but I guess I can work on one.
The best music to mix! What table are you using? I like that laptop stand
Amazing video log thank you for sharing what you do could you please tell me what lights you are using
Love this video
This is a very inspirational video, I’ve been hired to Dj for a dance class nov 9 and learned a lot from your video.
+Karl Gary glad I could help.
Dope bro. Keep doing your thing
Awesome video Cleveland 👍 quick question? when you are doing you're mixing with any genre, do you mix according to BPM or key? Just curious on your process? Learning a lot watching your videos. You are the truth bro 💯
+GERARD aka DJ GEE I typically mix entirely by ear. I have trouble using the mic in key features because the songs don’t sound right. I’m a musician so being able to here key is in my dna. I also use BPM sorting when I don’t know where I want to go.
@@ClevelandTerry appreciate you responding bro. That helps a lot 😊 I actually hear the music better as well to determine if they match. And I sort by BPM. Thanks again
Love your vids but pleas lock the focus on your cam! Love the selections too!
+Dj Ricky Redz agreed. It bothers me too. it’s actually a firmware issue. My auto focus was on point but every so often it just goes crazy. Still working out why it’s happening.
How about play some Brass Construction and Crown Heights Affair the next gig?
+thatchinaboi this wasn’t the whole set my friend.
Like how you mix you should do a tutorial
🔥🔥🔥🔥
What kind of controller are you using? Man! You sound good!!!
Vangie Villanueva ddj 1000 and thanks!
Cleveland Terry studio 54 set
1.) I kept fearing that you would hit your head on those brackets on the wall 😅
-and-
2.) “Some Transitions Modified To Avoid Copyright” ...where does one go to find out these rules about music within RUclips and what’s allowed and what’s not?
Thanks,
Troy | DJ KNKT
+DJ KNKT i kept fearing that too because I’ve actually hit it before. My copyright hack is very simple. It involves uploading the file in private and seeing what gets flagged, then I re-edit the video without the flagged song.
@Clevand Classic Dance party are the best Old School is The Soundtrack of our life
Love your channel, how do you find the wireless go, I find the gain is too high when the music goes up, and distorts. It becomes useless at that point.
+Dj funkymike they are great for speaking but not great for mix recording. If I’m behind the speakers they are better. I love them though because I don’t need to be pointed the mic at myself to still record good audio, for my talking head videos because it eliminates echo.
I really like this , I would like to see another video of this live music mix I love to incorporate Motown in my mixes, are you using vdj or serato I can't see
Or do like I do. Warp in Ableton to a steady BPM. I played all this stuff when it was only a few years old or even new so I don't want to have to go through all the hassles I did mixing vinyl back in the day.
+g30jack that’s one way, but in the event you aren’t using your computer, or using actual vinyl, knowing exactly what the song will do is imperative.
@@ClevelandTerry I did my first gig in 1979. I put the old in "old school". I was dragging a finger on platters to keep in sync before most of today's DJs were born. I'm all about embracing the technology and never, ever dragging 20 crates of records to a gig again as long as I have my Denon gear and a thumb drive.
🙏🏾 respect to you.
what kind of laptop stand is that...? is it attached to your case ?
paris paul 🙌🏻
+Henry Esparza Paris Paul is not in this video.
wrong one damn auto play lol
Henry Esparza lol.
What video camera do you use?
Panasonic lumix G9
Panasonic lumix G9
They paid more for you than the amount of money they got from participants that day. Smh some non-Jews running the business there
+DJ Solstice it’s a big room and I only filmed from the entry. It was full. They regularly pack the house. It’s a boutique gym. People pay premium.
@@ClevelandTerry Ahhhh. interesting.....
The audio sounds like shit with that mic. It’s scratchy and sounds like it’s lacking full depth
+DJ Solstice well any clearer and the RUclips police would come and demonetize me so I’m okay with a little scratchiness. It’s not a mixtape.
Cleveland Terry Bowens I mean the mic you’re talking into
DJ Solstice It’s not the mic, if you look at many of my other videos you know it’s a really good sounding Mike, guaranteed it just had to do with the fact there was so much noise. You don’t hear the super loud fan that is being pushed above me and I was talking louder than I needed to because I couldn’t hear.
