    Great educational vid on transitions, you should do more tutorials...Very Few DJs on RUclips cater to open format, mobile DJs...Respect on your skills.

    Dude... your transitions were really on point! It's really difficult to blend 80s pop music but you did it effortlessly. Awesome!!

    That was awesome vid btw ! You don't see much vids dj's doing weddings or parties on film like that. That's cool ! Plus let some people understand how hard it is for the set up and things go wrong and fix.

    I loved how you brought in "Jessie's Girl" and I loved how you demonstrated at a live gig the correct way to mix in and out quickly and smoothly and not alienate your audience. Hats off to you bro! You did a great job!

    An 80's party would just make my year, great vids Terry

  • @hhaarmann
    @hhaarmann 5 лет назад +10

    Hi Terry, the thing with 80’s music is that beat gridding is not really an option as the beat grids are all over the place. Can you make a video or explain what would be the best way to prepare and mix 80’s tracks? Loved this video a lot, it is exactly what other bloggers don’t show. Loved the comments during mixing. Keep it up, love your channel.

    • @mazusub8182
      @mazusub8182 5 лет назад +6

      Henk Haarmann try to prep your tracks before the parties or at the party on the fly setting up loops on little instrumental parts (with no vocals) if the song at the intro or after the break or chorus or before verses don’t give you enough instrumental break to blend in the next song... that’s like a little cheating getting around it trick to blend in the new song and gives you time for beat gridding usually in Serato you can save a lot of looping parts by locking them down and they stay recorded in whatever song forever until you delete it manually... I do that with a lot of the 80’s and 90’s songs or if you want to save yourself the trouble of spending time doing that... then just buy a lot of remixe packages that DJs sell on DJs websites like funky mix, select mix , party bangaz, retro remixes, etc there’s a few more if you google it...and they have a section that only dedicates/ caters to 70’s 80’s 90’s 2000’s or even older music and their remixes are so good with intros and outros and hype intros before the first verse...hope this helps you.

    • @hhaarmann
      @hhaarmann 5 лет назад +2

      Mazu Sub that is some solid advise. Tried beat gridding just per phrase but was not enough. Like the part about the remixes as well. Thanks so much.

    Very good vlog! I like the fact that you open this up to the process, the good and the bad, the ugly, the unexpected, but the reason why you do what you do. I'm going on year 17 DJing and the one advice that I will probably give the young guys who starting out or wanting to start, is to look at a video like this to let him see the behind-the-scenes look and the prep that goes into it.

I've been djing since 1980 & now I've had a residency since 2009 every Fri & Sat night. Love geeking to your info keep it going Bro! Bye the way I'm also the sound engineer & I use a DDJ SB3 or what ever else I can hook into another channel controlled by the crossfader, lol.

    Being a mobile dj is hard work...playing the best of the best of many genres and making sense of it all requires creativity. As always Cleveland delivers. I admire djs like Roger Sanchez, Carl Cox, Eric Morillo, Laidback Luke - they get to play their set probably with little or no restrictions....cheers to C Terry😃🎈🎉🔥

    Thanks for the vlog , i have an 80's corporate gig tomorrow. they wanted me to send them a list of my 80's music. I told them the list is to big, just send me a list of music you may want for the hour cocktail and eating period. She sent 18 songs and said could you play them in this order. SMH, but its a repeat client that i perform for year round. So one event with a play in this order event will not kill me. Its not a dance party. Keep em dancing

    Good mixing and song selection. The 2 minute rule works in certain situations. In the area where I live, people love to line dance and they don’t like those cut that short. I was at a party where a DJ was in and out of songs and people started complaining. She was an excellent DJ and her mixes were on point but she kinda lost her crowd at a point.
