Hola Maria! I had no idea that the Bird of Paradise is related to the Banana Tree. I learned something new! Thank you dear lady! For the last 5 years or so I've been doing gardening work for my neighbors here in the senior trailer park where I live. It was a way for me to earn some money. One of my neighbors has a giant Bird of Paradise in their back yard. It had 3 segments which were about 8 feet tall. I decided I needed to prune them so I cut them down. I landed up cutting them to the ground fulling expecting them to grow back from the same trunk. They did not. Instead the stump died and rotted away. I thought I had killed them! The following season I noticed that each rotted stump had one baby growing. I counted it as a blessing thinking I got lucky that the plants grew back. Now I see I did the right thing by them and I am sending you a big THANK YOU for putting my mind at ease through this tutorial. I AM NOT A PLANT MURDERER!
Hi Maria! I have 4 bird of paradise plants in the ground and they’re in full sun and not looking good nor do they hardly bloom much. Honestly I haven’t done much to them since I moved in 3 years ago other than the water they get from the sprinklers. I will start the blood meal but how often do they need fertilizer? Yours looks so happy and they look shaded. Do they prefer shade over full sun?? I'm in south florida too!
I'm about to finally plant my bird of paradise into ground. A friend gave it to me last summer and it stayed in pot 5 ish ft maybe and in semi shady spot til I moved it in late September to a high sun area but haven't paid a lot of attention to it other than some pruning but 1 of my daughters came for a staycationish and her beautiful Siberian Huskey, who is bout 1.5 yrs old...loves to dig holes. Hence...the time is now! I've been reviewing several videos to find comps for my area and Maria's channel is so far...the only 1 I've found that shows pot to ground planting tips and such...plus lol I ♥️ Maria!! I used to watch her Desert Rose vids and she's always so entertaining and knowledgeable bout her craft. And...I want to go on a field trip to her garden! I think she's in Punta Gorda...or the area and thats bout 30 or so miles south of me so in theory...could be an ez trip...that is if she's willing lol. It's a nice thought tho. I'd feel like a kid in candy store there! Oh lol Venice! Yes, thats 10 miles or less south of me. ¡buenas tardes amigos!

I love your videos. I just found them today on RUclips and I've been doing Maria's Garden videos all day. I can tell you love your plants and it's not work for you hopefully it's not work for you. I love the way you experiment with things and have a control and then try something different. I like your potting soil mix where you showed that the Miracle-Gro succulent or Cactus mix isn't very good anymore. I only have a few succulents I have one Hoya and I'd be glad to send you some cuttings... Watched a video... I don't know what it's name is.... i saw a cutting of a rope hoya that was playing Green and lows the other day and some kind of a glass tube or something and they wanted like $12.95 for it... I didn't buy it cuz I was afraid I'd kill it. But I think after watching your one Jolla video I might be able to get it to grow. It was only about 8 inches long. Thank you so much for making these videos. I wanted a bird of paradise do you have as a houseplant for a long time. I didn't realize that caught so big. It was at Home Depot and was marked $25 but it was all dried out so I asked if they'd give me a discount so they took $10 off. I brought it home soaked it in water I think it's planted in that new stuff that coconut coir whatever that stuff is. Once it was water in hydrated it's beautiful even though the leaves are split but I think that's part of its nature. It's a white bird of paradise so I guess I better be hunting for a bigger pot to put it in. I wish someone on RUclips maybe you would do a video about gardenias I have 5 gardenia trees then I wintered over three of them for two Winters and two of them for one winter. I wish I knew more about how to take care of them but they do bloom in the summer and give me many flowers. Right now the two that this is their first winter are full of blooms but I don't know whether they'll bloom in the house. The only Osmocote that fertilize for 6 months is flower and vegetable blend. Please let me know which one to get????

My poor baby, after over 1 year of being sick I had no choice but to plant it outside in a ground in a full sun area. My plant was purchased in an excellent shape and I planted it in a big pot in a very sunny area in a living room. After a couple of months it was growing well but I started noticing a white and sticky fungus like substance on the leaves. I used different sprays,cleaned the leaves etc. So I gave up and plant it outside. I live in Sarasota and hopefully I can help my baby to get healthy I never give up on plants and I don’t throw it away . Any suggestions??
Hi my friend what I recommend to pull the plant from the ground desert rose are pot plant only she needs about to inches in each size of the trunk for growing room please under cover outdoors to rest for six to seven weeks not direct sun best if you have any type of tree place under and water ones a week if doesn’t rain I recommend to leave there until next spring it’s not recommended to place plants in direct sunlight because Florida it’s very hot to much moving can get the plants very stressed
