I've never figured out how giant creatures always seem to sneak up on people. Their sheer size and weight would make moving quietly almost impossible. There will be massive ground vibrations with each step, they will also probably be causing damage to the surrounding area which makes noise as well.
Same way 8 foot tall murder hobos get the drop on people in slashers, all of the bad guys went to ninja school.
What the camera can't see, the protagonists can't see.
The protagonists in these movies often have a 15 degree cone of vision and earplugs in at all times.
fun fact the trex was an ambush predator, it had stealth pads on its feet to cushion sound, its entirely possible a lot of these monsters and giant creatures were the same.

Remember, the tail was big enough to destroy the Brooklyn Bridge with one swing, and it was large enough to be eye level with buildings at least 30 stories tall and rip the head off of the statue of liberty. No cushion In the world is going to hide that impact

It's honestly split between either easily surviving or being doomed from the beginning. Really it depends on where you are and what you do. (Many people never had a chance, millions fleeing just means many will not make it, though most probably would survive, the dead will probably be in the hundreds of thousands)

Brave is stupid, but also pure.
What's stupid is how he suggested the characters to grab guns for protection. Like not just normal small pistol, bloody ASSULT RIFLES that weigh 3-5kg not counting ammo.
What sets this apart from a regular giant monster movie is the fact that it takes place through a person's eyes. Definitely makes it more terrifying.
To this day my favourite "handheld" monster movie. I adore the cloverfield series even though the other movies are if varrying quality.
There was an alien movie that uses unconventional filming like this. District 9 I think.

At the start - why would anyone in this situation associate a satellite falling out of orbit (which is rare, but a thing that does happen) with a potential future Kaiju attack? The viewer understands that the satellite falling is important, but to Rob and his friends, this is just a rare event they were lucky enough to catch on camera.

And how many people enjoying the craziness of Cony Island would even notice it? It hit so far out at sea nobody would have heard it. Especially not over the noise from all the carnival rides. "How to beat the Cloverfield Monster?" - Live on a different planet.

Originally it was written that the camera man would survive, but during filming they decided they wanted to have the viewers end up vicariously eaten by the monster, hence Hudson dying

@@e.m.m.i6054 I agree with the Parasites being more of a threat because with Clover, you can atleast see the thing coming and where it is before making a plan but the parasites are small and fast and could suprise you pretty easily

thats exactly why i suggested for how to beat to make a video on cloverfield, now lucky me 2 days after my suggestion with likes using an alternate account theres a cloverfield video!
i’ll never forget seeing this as a kid in theaters, the warning at the concession stand saying it felt like a roller coaster and you may experience nausea, literally had to leave halfway through cause I was going to vomit but have watched it numerous times since then it’s easily one of my favorite movies.

Recently watched that movie. The form it's presented in makes it unique and fun to watch. Also, I love how they referenced it in Modern Warfare 2, with the "Hammerdown Protocol"

flooding beth's apartment building would be a waste of time when clover is literally monster feet away from you, as you're going from room to room flooding them it's looking through the windows watching until it gets bored and knocks over the building plus even if it didn't notice you & you managed to flood the place to finish collapsing, that wouldn't be enough to draw it's attention since it has been knocking down buildings all night.

@@DeltaCharizard there was a bunch of weird promo for the movie before it’s release. They had a website set up and it had a rough outline of what happened before the start of the movie; why the monster woke up. On th website it had talked about a satellite falling and waking up the monster they left all the breadcrumbs for ppl to find it

The promo before the movie was released had this website you could go to that gave you backstory on the movie. On this website it said a satellite fell into the water and woke the monster up. Again it’s been covered to death by everyone who talks clover. He didn’t spot it for the first time for this video. It’s a well known fact. It’s been talked about since shortly after the film’s release
Fun fact its not an alien, its a mutated deepsea fish that ate nectar at the bottom of the ocean and grew to that size and the one in the movie is a baby, the monsters in the subway are sand fleas.

Oh boy I remember when this movie came out. I was equally terrified and fascinated by it and its ARG (Alternate Reality Game). There were speculations and Slusho reacts explosively to the Monster and how it has external esophagi to suck up smaller pray

If I recall the lore correctly, the monster didn't crash with the satellite. It was sleeping at the bottom of the ocean, sealed by a lab masquerading as an oil rig. The satellite woke it up.
I dunno if I buy that. The satellite fell into a busy bay near one of the largest cities in the world, not the middle of the ocean. The monster would either have been noticed by somebody way earlier, or woken up much sooner from all the activity.
Didn't the monster appear from an alternate dimension because of what happened in Cloverfield Paradox?
@Darkgun231 the satellite was built by the company Tagurato. It's what they used to monitor research the monster. Look up "Cloverfield monster destroys tagurato oil rig". There's crazy hidden lore in this film

Hudson is the true definition of an cameraman, even on of his friends explode, a monster is above him, ot even before his death. He is a true legendary cameraman
Small thing about the satellite, the reason nobody noticed it was because it appeared due to unnatural circumstances, in other words, a paradox.
Also the military does send the people to "safe" places like underground, but it's unclear what happened at the other "safe zones" since the parasites(smaller creatures) have entered the underground.
Also trying to grab a weapon off a dead soldier is kinda risky, considering it would most likely be in the middle of the firefight with the monster, which is extremely dangerous to even be close to.
The second time I watched Cloverfield I was screaming at the TV, "Hud, put down the blasted camera and help your friends!"

I remember suddenly being told we were going to watch a movie, and running across the street and taking a shortcut down a hill to get to the movie theater.
That, along with it being the only found footage movie I've really seen, made it memorable.
What would I do?
Well when a disaster starts happening, I don't think I'm going to the roof to see.
And after finding out it is a giant monster attack, I'm definitely heading away from it and never toward it.
Additionally, I would never go on a bridge out in the open. The escape route must have multiple paths to run to, and must have numerous areas over cover so I can scurry from cover to cover and make sure I'm never visible to it.
Lastly, I'm counting on the military to hit a goddamned kaiju with something that isn't foot soldiers with rifles...
To be fair something falling into the ocean wouldn't have instantly lead me to think "uh oh, we have to evacuate New York, giant kaiju is coming". That sounds like a leap.

Something to consider is that there are many more of them. More importantly the part I want to really add:
The Cloverfield monster is just a baby. There's a small manga on it, that gets very weird, or at least, I only vaguely remember reading it ages ago.
In the Cloverfield paradox movie, we get a clear-ish view of one. Said adult was tall enough to poke its head above the clouds.
The small monster things that come off of it are these weirdo mite/parasites that feed on it. Similar to how mosquitoes or other insect bites irritate skin it eventually causes people to balloon and explode as it did with that one woman. Iirc, in another one of those alternate reality game things that they had on the internet, it may have mentioned that water causes the extreme reaction as she drank prior before bursting, but again, it's been years since I dug around that rabbit hole.

the thing about this movie is it sets an eerie felling in your stomach. as a kid I that it was so realistic it could happen. But I know who that this is unlikely for as far as I live
Since they enter at spring street they can just take that up to penn station at 34th and they others could have taken the LIRR tunnel east to Jamaica station out of Manhattan. The dudes could continue uptown to the girls building which is close to grand central which they can take the north tunnels up to Westchester avoiding all the nukes. Minus all the giant sea lice in the tunnels. I’d feel safer with those sea lice then what’s currently happening inhabiting the subways these days.
Why would you go east to Long Island so that you would now be on an island in an apocalypse, when from the same station you can go west to New Jersey and the rest of the continental US? Hahaha

Fun reminder: The satellite falling woke up Clover from it's sleep deep in the ocean. It's a natural crearure from Earth, but just usually so deep in the ocean that we've never seen them before. Clover isn't trying to be super destructive, it's simply trying to escape from the blinding, painful lights and military assault.

Hey, have you done a video on how to beat the parallel dimensions in _Coherence_ yet? It’s not exactly a horror film, but I definitely think it would make an interesting video.
One thing I like about this movie is not only the monster design, but that it focuses on the humans. In the Monsterverse, we only see the boring parts of humans and the Monster fights, which aren’t that bad. But in Cloverfield, we are focusing on the damage and destruction these monsters cause by just existing. The Monsterverse never takes more than a couple seconds of a news recordings to even describe these incidents. This movie is amazing because it’s a unique type of monster movie, which shows how much of a tragedy these types of movies really can be.

How would I beat Cloverfield? Four words. Get. To. A. Boat. The moment the bridge got taken down, I would be looking for a boat. Yes, there could be another monster still in the water, but we know for certain there is a monster on land with us now. It's risky to take a boat, sure. But less risky than running through the ruined streets of Manhattan with millions of panicked individuals, while buildings collapse, glass falls, and a monster is playing Godzilla in downtown.
The monster came from the ocean. It's aquatic. It's TRYING TO GO BACK TO THE OCEAN. You'd be fucked

2 things. 1. I was speaking in terms of the people on ground level. Like the ones the movie follows. 2. At the end of the credits it plays a message that sounds like help us but if reversed days it's still alive. Indicating that the bombs didn't finish it off.

The obvious course of action, therefor, is to hit it again.

Dead medics, dead soldiers. A bit of videogame thinking over there. The idea that they're conveniently lootable bodies around for them to loot is silly and could lead them to an even earlier death. Any place that has those probably is crawling with the smaller creatures.
Thank you. 'Grab a gun from one of the dead soldiers ' is not a good idea in this situation.
First off these guys have been dead for about five minutes so the ticks that killed them are probably still around, so going into the pile of bodies to grab 'As many assault rifles as you can' is gonna get you killed.
If you need a gun, grab it from home before you leave, or grab it from somewhere there ISN'T anything happening, at the very least you'll have to wait a few hours to loot the bodies above ground where the monster will hopefully disperse.
Second, your not only gonna have to grab guns, but search them for ammo because if they died fighting the monsters, odds are those rifles don't have much ammo in them, worst case scenario is that you try to shoot one of them only for the gun to not have any bullets loaded. So not only do you have to pry to guns from their hands (Which takes even longer once rigor mortis sets in) you also have to figure out where they kept the extra magazines and pocket those.
Third, the tip about grabbing armor is useless. If it were a gun fight, okay grab the armor if you can so you have SOME protective kevlar, but this is a monster attack, kevlar chest armor means nothing to something that will easily bite your head off. That's the big video game thinking How to Beat is doing right there, as if wearing a kevlar vest will somehow give you head protection.
Plus let's say I DO have time to grab a gun and some ammo off a body of a soldier who say... Dragging his way into a open storefront away from the fight before expiring- Removing his armor is a LOT more time consuming that ripping a gun from his hand and patting him down for ammo. I'd have to constantly move the body trying to find latches that I have no idea the location of, and move the body off the armor if I do manage to unlatch it. Further more I would either have to lug it around until I can find somewhere safe to put it on, because putting it on in the middle of a pack of monsters is a bad idea because not only to I have to quickly put it on, I'd have to adjust the straps to fit my figure- Because I sure as hell don't have the same build as the National Guard.
@@phoenixchampion7 people think that they'd be even able to operate a handgun they're not familiar with. They're just as likely to hurt themselves or a friendly than to actually have a shot at holding their ground against these critters.
Something i like about this movie is that its taken from an actual camera which is unique and cool

The worst part about this, is that we find out in the lore that humans woke the monster up, in reality clover is just a scared and confused baby trying to get away from the ants shooting at it, poor thing must be downright terrified, Its like if ants woke up a toddler and started biting the kid as it ran through a bunch of ant hills

None of them have the tonnage. The monster was wounded, but survived 500-2,000lb bombs being dropped on it.
More 2,000lb/FAB-1500 bombs from as many planes as possible would be the best bet
Really good movie. Cloverfield Paradox is pretty good, too.
