man! I cannot tell you how thankful I am for you makkling this video! I have a 13 with the same motor. Only owner. The traction control light and 4lo light was flashing along with the check engine light on mine. Full limp mode. After watching this. I ordered the same part due to the super common p2440 code on these motors. I'm up and running again after replacing this part and saving myself nearly $2g in towing and shop fees! Oh, yeah. I'm also in the Portland area!
I have a 08 with the 5.7. Consider yourself lucky on the location. Mine was located behind and under the intake manifold (in the back). I placed a small hole in the rubber cup of the pumps to allow water to drain and prevent pump motors from seizing up. Brilliant design 🙄
In my area there are many (former) military airbases and F16's practice regularly right over my head, sometimes even til 10 PM... In my youth they were even allowed to go faster as the speed of sound and produced sonic booms.
Thanks a lot , my 2011 TOYOTA TUNDRA same problem traction and engine light on , Auto Jone checked with code p2440 , bought one at Toyota dealer $560. After replaced the valve the code is clear.
Thanks so much! This is the exact video I was looking for to confirm that I could just replace the plastic valve portion and leave the original metal part in place like you showed. The Toyota stealership quoted me $4200 and said they needed to replace the whole system (pumps and valves) , needless to say, I said thanks but no.
A.I.R. systems have been around since 1966, you'd think Toyota of all companies would have an affordable common unit for all vehicles that utilize them and fit multiple years. Word to the wise when working on vehicles with power locks: get in the habit of putting down a window, you never know if there is aftermarket BS, a malfunction or intelligent security that relocks doors x minutes after unlocking unless it has gone through a start cycle (Nissan...) Save yourself the hassle of a lockout.
Just wondering if you can still drive the Truck and just leave the light on. I know you wouldn't pass emission test . Maybe it would tear something else up if you kept driving with light on.
The actual failure was the reed valve beyond the actuator, which avoids blow back from the exhaust and is a heat shield. Since it was partly open, the plastic actuator melted.
Do you happen to know the Name of this part? Im wondering if my 2012 Toyota Venza with the 3.5 v6 bc I have this code and Ive already replaced the o2 sensor
I have a 4.6 2011. Bought it brand new with 11 miles. Around 120k I noticed my truck went into limp mode. I was all over the internet trying to find a fix. I came across a bypass kit and installed that. Fast forward 6 yrs and now my truck has 270k miles and just the other day I thought it was going to go in limp mode again, but didn't. I noticed when i would slowly accelerate from a stop it would struggle to accelerate. It wasnt horrible, but noticable. Could be cause it was really cold that morning? Anyways, I want to replace the valve, but it's hard to part with this kit I have on now. Only downside I've noticed with this kit is I went from 15/16 mpg to 13. Idk, it might be the age of the truck or it might be the kit.
I just installed a "HEWITT TECH" BYPASS MODULE on my 2010 5.7 and the truck runs better than NEW. And gets a little better MPG. Of course we tundra owners know the only way to really get better mpg is to keep it under 2000 RPM's.

What's the name of this part?
I have the part, but haven't installed it. Forgot the name. Just Google tundra Bank 1 air valve.
Grew up near a ANG base. Old F106s then the got the 16s in the 70s. Sounded just like that. Brave folks keeping us safe.

I think I need a 2uj engine for my home built micro car !
Those are some of the best v8’s
Looks like the reed got warped and let the exhaust gases always flow right up in there.

Happy to help

Thanks for the great video. Would be a good idea to do both banks(sides), because the other one is probably in similar condition.
With Stella abord,
what could go wrong?

So what about the other sides valve?
I was going to comment too - if one side was bad there would be a strong possibility the other night be bad also ???

Is this same for the 2009 4.7L V8 tundra with P2443 code?

What's the name of that valve you replaced?
Awwwwww! 😂😂🤣🤣😁 She's so DOG GONE CUTE!😍😍❤

Did you also have the 4lo flashing, or is this a 2wd?
At least it was on the top, easy to access.
Just fixed the same thing on my 2012 FJ Cruiser....Emissions Bollox are a pain in the Arse.
Hi, I have the same problem but my tundra it cranks but don't start, you think that's why?
Thank you so much for your video. You save me a lot money. God bless you 🙏 ❤️!!!!!
Ok, you love your dog. I am a fan. 😄
Great work! I love your vids!
To new for me however maybe someday I'll force myself to buy one.. then I can take it to mph.. I wouldn't trust anyone else to work on it ..
It sounds just like my dad's truck :)
May you please share the part number?
I still don't understand what secondary air injection does. Seems like it's just a "cheat" device to pass sniff test.
It's part of the emissions. It doesn't help the truck run better or more efficiently.
😂 love the dog
Typical Toyota thing, traction control disabled lights up when the CEL is on. Haven't ever tested if Trac is actually disabled
Must be a noisey city to live with the fughter jets
The Dog is awesome
i changed mine and now when i come to a complete stop my truck turns off completely
This is covered under warranty up to 150.000 miles Toyota knows its a bad design,

Thinking about this kit as I watch, thanks for the comment.
