Damn, Sterling's talk on Andy Irons and connecting with people and just straight up living really touched me. Had to make another comment after listening to say that those perspectives and being able to share them is one of the things that makes this show special. Surfing can present as really unserious sometimes, but the reality is that people have dedicated their entire lives to it and there are a lot of emotions and elements of humanity connected to it. It's nice to have a show that represents that side of surfing.
this is a special episode. like really good. I laughed. I cried. but seriously I also appreciate the honest talk about Andy and about our mental, physical and spiritual states. we have to take care of ourselves and we have to also take care of each other. thanks for the real talk and the laughs. might be my fave podcast. see you in the Seaside lot.

Best definition for enlightment I've heard is I think a Sufi saying. That the sub-conscious mind is like the ocean the conscious mind is a tiny boat adrift that ocean. True enlightenment is when the conscious mind becomes the ocean rather than the boat.

Currently in tears of healing listening to the kissed by god segment. Thank you so much for sharing your vulnerability with the grief process. I went through something very similar with a close friend who passed away. It’s a reminder for me to reconnect with where shame has taken root over the past year 🌱

Robes are actually elite. The trick is you just can't wear them around anyone or it feels weird. You're more covered in a robe than normal clothes but somehow they make you feel more exposed around others. But, reading a book, eating breakfast, or taking in the morning sun in a robe alone is zen.

I totally get the shut down you had after Andy. When my best friend died, I did something similar and tried to not think about it. That's what fucked me up. After I faced it head-on, my perspective changed and could let go of those weird nagging feelings. Im glad you and Lyndie are cool, don't lose that connection to her because it's directly connected to Andy in some way, doesn't need to be spiritual per se. The loved ones that die live through us and the changes we made because we loved them.
PS: 1 hr of pinch my clips is still insufficient lol, you guys rock

Okay so my hubby and I LOVE watching any and all content you BOTH put out(huhuh put out) any how I LOVE your outfit you are like a little girl that never grew up, and we mean that in the best way, like ya know when you see little kids wearing striped pants with flower shirts and furry gloves and some other colorful accessory that I’m too old to imagine. Like that! 🎉
IMPROV yes! It’s amazing the one rule of improve is that when making a story with others, the idea is to only say yes, and just keep adding to the story that you are creating. There are some really good books on improv with some fun activities to play with.
When you started talking about how we have a physical spiritual and emotional body, I was saying yes! Yes! Yes! Native Americans understand this very deeply. We believe there are 4 parts to us humans Physical Spiritual Mental (Thinking/Brain) and Emotional.
To be healthy all these need to be in balance, sometimes we can have a broken mind, soul, heart, body. The way to heal in Native American traditions is with 4 tools, the sweat lodge, the vision quest, the peace pipe and the drum. We have some books that we can recommend if you are interested in diving deeper into those nurturing healing realms. We love your playful nature and appreciate the effort that each of you take to connect and share. Peace love all that jazz and remember Free Palestine🌈🙏✌️💕

There is great truth in what you were saying in this espisode-that no one really thinks about you, or cares about you. It is so true. Here today, gone tomorrow. It is just ego that makes us think we are important. But another truth, guys, is I think about you both every day. I am always waiting for the next episode. Note: Regarding tough love on surfboards, Cousin Ryan missed a beat when he asked ."and have you kind of sequed this into your relationships with women...?" He didn't ask you if you also throw them in the van.🤣 The woman I cherished got stolen by a guy with a black leather jacket and a Japanese tattoo on his shoulder. Lesson learned.
