They let hockey players fight because it’s an emotional game played with weapons in your hands and on your feet. Fighting gives real consequences for if you commit a dirty play. You then have to fight the toughest person on the other team to answer for your actions making dirty plays happen less often. Also let’s players settle things with fists instead of blades and sticks they carry at all times.
why hockey fights are allowed: To deter other types of rough play To protect star players To create a sense of solidarity among teammates To police the game and maintain order on the ice To prevent bigger blowups from occurring
ive always felt like the structure and rules of surf competitions is whats held surfing back rather than the surfing itself. Really like your catch x amount of waves rather than a time limit approach. Maybe even add in teams of 3 or 4? Make it a league like nba? With contracts and superstars and what not being paid to be on specific teams? And that team has to be strategic on whos going to catch a certain wave and why. Sounds fun. With drama too.
Kelly would have had another 2 titles if he wasn't riding the tiny epoxies. He looked so much better on boards he had to draw out more back in the day.

i get what sterling was trying to say, its not not how big or small the battle to overcome something is, if your brain is damaged and youve no motivation the battle is a million times harder either way.
i agree with sterling, when a part of your body is injured that is not your brain or nervous system you can see it objectively and use your brain to fix it. but when your brain or nervous system is injured, it's like trying to dig yourself out of the bottom of a hole or like trying to fix a broken hammer with the broken hammer. your whole consciousness is injured, and it's hard to make good decisions. you almost have to believe in god or some part of your that is greater that is incorruptible and can still get through somehow.

Kelly definitely needs to go back to what he was riding in the late 90s and 2000s, maybe beef up the foam a bit and relax the rocker. If not that, then go the Rob Machado way and go for twin fins and fish shapes. His current boards aren’t working for him, they’re working against him. And like sterling said, he needs to go full power surf mode and quit trying to keep up with the kids. That style is likely a fad, anyway. I personally think it’s ugly.

Re; boogie board surfing-when I was 12 in the summer of 1980 my sister would take us to the beach at islander Hut so they can underage drink and I'd go out surfing and Kelly and his brother would be out there on twin fin boogie boards absolutely ripping and I was too scared to go down and surf with them caused they ripped so hard

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormons) have local clergy that aren't paid and everyone has a job within their local congregation that they do for free (like a little service job). And then once they get too many people in one congregation, they make another congregation of people who live in the same area. They can just keep splitting it so no congregation gets so big that people get forgotten about, if that makes sense. I'm just riffin' and commenting along as I watch haha
