My dad was from Ventura and saw Endless Summer when Bruce Brown was going around screening it in community centers and gymnasiums back in the day. He surfed growing up and I remember him telling me about modifying his board and crafting custom skegs. There was this super old couple that were like the most leather skinned wrinkle Yodas from decades of sun exposure surfing. He had his name tattooed in script on his calf So Cal cholo style. I was fascinated by it as a kid, the first tattoo I ever saw. He had built a hot rod that he took down to TJ to get custom leather tuck n roll upholstery. I was born in California so growing up in Oregon I always pissed with FOMO I wanted to be growing up in Southern California too. I was put in the water from the time I was a baby and he did take me swimming every weekend. Both my nieces are rad little swimmers and I was teaching them to pop up on a boogie board this summer, I got asked if I was their swimming instructor 🤭 RIP Roach you were a Rad Dad. This podcast got me all stoked and I’m binging it. Thanks for all the laughs you two are funny af! 🤙🖤🌊

Hey Sterling, I am writing you for advice/help...I recently switched to a foamie... now whenever I go out surfing I get chased by Seals. They never used to be so aggressive towards me. I thought it might be all the Tuna I eat, but I've been Tuna free for a week and it's still happening(still on the foam tho)...my next step I guess is to lose some Weight so I don't look so much like one. ww2, the big one, and surfing: a lot of military and aerospace companies were located in SoCal and a lot of the core guys are children of those engineers and machinists. I'm not sure on my info but I think of Hobie, Clark Foam and a lot of other shapers and innovators came out of that military and aerospace thing.
