Before I became jaded, I used to try to have compassion for people who stole bikes; not anymore, especially not for those who steal a bike that is clearly the instrument of someone's livelihood.
I hate thiefs, but doesn't everyone? I can't believe people have the gut to steal something. And I feel awful for you and the people who experienced this, I never got anything stolen, and if I did, I would obviously be unhappy, especially if it was a $2,500 bike.
"Before I became jaded, I used to try to have compassion for people who stole bikes" Compassion for straight up thieves? Why did it take becoming "jaded" to grasp that victimizing other people is flat out wrong?
Desperation isn't an excuse. I was homeless in NYC for three years. I never stole anything except maybe a granola bar when I was hungry. I've never thought about stealing someone's livelihood. I was even approached by other homeless people about medicaid scams (ripping the taxpayers off by getting fake AIDS diagnosis. 10,000 dollars in meds, sold for 500). I didn't do that either.
