I was in need of some prompt reminders 😁. I'm making myself a prompt jar for my next sketchbook project. Just general prompts that will repeat like flower, building, mammal etc that I can then get a royalty-free reference for. I wanted a nice straightforward sketchbook project for January while I figure out what I'm doing with my life in 2023 😅.

Love this, Emma! I always liked the idea of a prompt jar and having to just go with whatever you pick first. That sounds like such a great and gentle way to start the year! 💖

Great tips Katie. I'm really trying hard to do sketches from the hundreds of photos I take when I'm out and about!

Thanks so much Gillian! Oh the too many photos struggle is real 🙈 I really like the idea from @sketchbookscheming here in the comments where they have a specific folder for references. Maybe it'll help curate the best ones and narrow things down?

@@KatieMoody Yes I have a folder called "To paint" but I never even seem to get round to putting the photos into it 😆🙄

Some fab ideas! I really like the panel idea. Loved seeing you work in that tiny 12x12cm sketchbook as I’ve just bought that size. Where is the chicken sticker from on that pink sketchbook? Is it vinyl? Also, I didn’t realise you had a brother. I knew you had a twin sister. Is it just the 3 of you? 😊

Thank you so much Emma! That little sketchbook really is such a good size, I hope you enjoy working in it! The chicken sticker on the front is by Joanna Clay, she's here on RUclips and on Insta! It is vinyl 😊 And there are four of us actually! I have an older sister too, my brother and sister are also twins so there's two sets 😄 Us Moodys come as a pair 😂

This was really helpful~ I love how you had an example of each of the ideas as well! It's satisfying to see the filled sketchbook, where you painted the birds will you be having a sketchbook tour on it anytime soon?

Hi Celine, thank you so much! I've just realised I finished the sketchbook ages ago but hadn't filmed a flipthrough! I'll be recording that soon, thank you for reminding me! 🤗

I love these ideas, especially Pexels and MapCrunch, which I hadn't heard of before. I frequently look through my old photos when I need ideas, and I drop copies into a folder on my laptop that I can look at when the mood strikes.

So glad you liked it, thank you for watching! Those two sites are so helpful for references and full of so many possibilities 🤩 That's such a great idea for your old photos, I love the idea of having a separate folder specifically for references - thank you for sharing! 🥰

Really good suggestions, Katie. I haven't heard of Pexels or MapCrunch before, what great resources. I agree with Celine, who said she loves how you showed examples of your work that came out of each suggestion. Thank you.
