I tried shutting down my brain and letting my pen do what it wanted. I ended up with a freaky dog that I would have never come up with on my own. Now he is my son and I love him.
I love your confidence to just go to your sketchbook with a pen and just start drawing shapes without even sketching. I take my art way too seriously, I'm going to do this tonight.
Kasey has documented the evolution of her sketching process. She used to do pencil, then started with ball point pens. I remember in the beginning it was super messy and she went over her lines a lot. What I'm saying is,,, give it time and practice your confidence. You'll get there ♥️
For anyone who wants to work toward that but in small steps, it helped me to start sketching with coloured pencils. It's still a pencil, and colour is milder than black in a way, but it doesn't really erase. Plus you can do line art on it if you feel like it, and it will just have weird bits of colour. After that ballpoint first may be nice, either black or colour if that's available to you. I'm not someone who does line art without sketching, because I just love stuff sketchy, but it has helped my art, and I rarely sketch with graphite anymore unless I have plans for the drawing.
This weirdly gets me in the mood to draw a book full of weirdos after seeing the first page. I don’t know, it has a childlike feeling to have a picture book of nothing but weirdos.
I love you❤ Haven't been on yt for a loooong while now and i have a lot to catch up on. But you never get old. Your voice full of live. I never used art videos on the side like a potcast but you and waffels really are amazing ❤❤❤ have been in a pool of art hatred for a while. Numb to live. Next level art block. But i have to paint this painting for my final school year and i just want to quit since it's so not ME. But i can't since i need that grade for a good final so i can go to a university. But you are keeping me alive ❤
I throw a bunch of random colors onto the canvas (digital) and just keep pushing them around and rendering whatever I see until I have a finished art lol.
I either draw an animal species i've never drawn before and take the time to learn how to stylize it while keeping all the features that make it recognizable as That Specific Species, or draw an animal i've drawn a bazillion times before: a cat.
This and drawing animals without reference kinda quickly. Are definitely my go tos. Oh and just typing something (usually "animal") in a stock photo site and sketching whatever comes up.
Starting out with a rounded, wonky diamond, I draw rose petals around the center till I think the rose is nice and round, then stop. I keep making roses of various sizes, then find my relaxation coloring them in. Sometimes I practice gradients and shading on the petals, sometimes I don't!
usually, I can put on a ghibli movie and all of the sudden I'll NEED to draw! but honestly, when I have no ideas, I'll go onto social media to my folders of saved art inspo posts, or in my procreate saved inspiration folder. I find the best way to find things to draw it to take an art studio class or draw with friends. that one is just... really difficult to do
Usually, I prefer to draw non-human characters, such as furries, monsters, dragons, aliens, robots, etc. They’re definitely my primary comfort zone, when it all comes down to doodling or sketching, you know?
When i have no clue what to draw, i look up something like "cool looking animals" "weird fish" "pretty mushrooms" "nightmare insects" and then i scroll until i see something that gets the gears turning and i make a character out of it!
1. You must draw the croc again, we demand. 2. Sticker of the bee cat, please? For an art block, taking up water, brush and paint might be too much of an effort, if you can, DO IT! Thank you for the video Kasey, and actually, stickers of all of them please, the poop is just amazing
Pokémon characters is my go-to. 😊 They are so colorful and so many types of shapes. It also gets my hand back into practice when I haven't drawn in awhile. Thanks for the tips, Kasey. Love these sketchbook videos. Never know what your gonna draw. 😅
When im stuck I just do blobs of color, working with color pencil slowly shading some part and creating a random form. Help develope understanding and technique of shading, light and dark defining shape that come in handy for "real" Work. And when im in the really bad mood I just do dot, micron in hand and just dot dot dot dot my Mind away. Work like a charm
When I can’t think of what to draw, I pull up images of unusual body pose photography… something that makes interesting shapes. That usually gets my pencil to touch the paper.
I draw eyes, mouths and noses all over the page when I want to draw but don't know what to draw.. I never do anything with those face bits, it's literally a page filled with random eyes, noses and mouths. I also like drawing dragons, and flowers. One day I'll have to draw a dragon in a field of flowers and it's scales are actually little eyes. I often draw letters, I like drawing the drop shadows of the letters and I enjoy drawing neon sign letters. Mine I don't know what to draw when I want to draw isn't as fun as yours. You could turn that into a fun color page. Not sure if you have one out, but you should make an adult coloring book that people could buy.
I have a list of things I know I like to draw that I can reference when the brain stops working. Lately, it's been Sailor Moon villains and silent film stars. I have drawn Theda Bara enough times to potentially start a cult.
this video was super fun and has me very inspired to draw some dudes in my sketchbook! I was wondering though, what sketchbook do you use? I really like the format and size of it from how it looks here. awesome work! 🐊
Stickers! I like to draw something that'll go along with the stickers so if u have a cat sticker bam someone holding the cat. Also I like to just color in blobs or different shapes and doodle in the shapes. Like a snail in a blue circle? or a worm in a green oval? Lastly pintrest! I get inspired by quotes and art by other artists~ If u like a certain quote u can draw something that'll go along with the quote.
As long as it's for practice it is alright to draw. Displaying it, and especially selling is where it can become a problem. For purely your own purposes, anything goes, have fun with art!
The paint looks so solid and satisfying on the cat field piece. Is that watercolor or something else? Your description only mentions watercolor so I’m not sure
I usually end up falling into a hole of not knowing what to draw until I remember not to think about it too much :'))) art can be hard to enjoy sometimes
What do YOU draw when you don't know what to draw? 🤔
HOW THE HECK DID YOU KNOW THIS WAS/IS MY EXACT CURRENT DILEMMA?? Perfect video clairvoyance
I usually end up drawing different types of eyes, random lines and sometimes I just draw a face shape and see what kind of face I can make
What sketch book do you use in this video? Also I like to draw eyes when I’m uninspired because I’m a basic b
Some times I draw someone in a show/movie I recently watched
I like to draw monsters n goblins-- the uglier the better!
I usually find a character design from an animated show and complicate it until it becomes an animation nightmare
I'm scared.
That's an amazing idea lmao
Oooo sounds fun
Chaotic evil
😂I actually like this idea!

Usually when i dont know what to draw, i try to think of cartoon characters like bugs bunny or pink panther and draw them in certain scenarios
Back front alligator is my FAAAAVE 😍
This weirdly gets me in the mood to draw a book full of weirdos after seeing the first page. I don’t know, it has a childlike feeling to have a picture book of nothing but weirdos.
I love you❤

that's really cool!
Okay thank you
something important is to just draw without worrying about it being good- sometimes we get so caught up in making good art we block ourselves
You should draw the deer more and even make a print or pin of it
I throw a bunch of random colors onto the canvas (digital) and just keep pushing them around and rendering whatever I see until I have a finished art lol.
A poster with your take on Pokémon would be the best to purchase
In awe of your line confidence
Once Kasey wrote poop and put worms in it all I could think about were tapeworms 😬🤣
you have helped me so much in changing my line of thought from "what going to look pretty/cool?" into "what sounds fun?"
Oh my I just love this so much!

I would love a all story of the mouse in HR 😸
I bet he has 17 children.

When i have no clue what to draw, i look up something like "cool looking animals" "weird fish" "pretty mushrooms" "nightmare insects" and then i scroll until i see something that gets the gears turning and i make a character out of it!
I like to trace leaves and fathers I find when idk what to draw it's just brain empty and gets u outside to collect the stuff
I tend to ask my friends for suggestions and let their imagination inspire what i draw

I could NEVER with a pen right out the gate.
It’s a good skill to practice!
@@KaseyTheGolden I’m working on sketching without using an eraser. That’s about as hardcore as it gets right now.
Omg you need to turn that little mushroom character into a sticker, please!!! 🥰🍄
I love that cat in the grass and I really want to do that now hahaha
Sketchbook session with Kasey??? Heck yes!!!!

Many-eyed dragon in a flower field sounds interesting :)
I feel like you could make the best picture books for kids!
would you mind if i got one of your little doodle guys tattooed? they're so funny and cute!
Mandalas on top of different colors are usually my go too
I have a list of things I know I like to draw that I can reference when the brain stops working. Lately, it's been Sailor Moon villains and silent film stars. I have drawn Theda Bara enough times to potentially start a cult.
Fanart and OCs or friends Instagram photos are always a go to as are my line/ribbon drawings.
this video was super fun and has me very inspired to draw some dudes in my sketchbook! I was wondering though, what sketchbook do you use? I really like the format and size of it from how it looks here. awesome work! 🐊
I know it's been a month but in case you are still wondering it's A bayleejae sketchbook ( the link is in the description)
Very proud that you drew an accurate pikachu bc so many people don’t
Since entering graphic design I started doing a lot of observation drawings, drawing stuff I see and look interesting
I like to draw a character in like 100+ art styles and similar to other characters
When I can't think of anything to draw I just love filling a whole sketchbook page with eyes and filling the background with black
I love to draw patterns. It helps my brain to unlock 😊
Perfect for my art block
Thanks for the video! I have just started watching, but it will be very useful for me now ❤❤❤

So stoked to be an early bird!
I was literally just asking myself this
i want to draw all the time but dont know what to draw except copying art i love from Pinterest, but i feel like i shouldnt do that
As long as it's for practice it is alright to draw. Displaying it, and especially selling is where it can become a problem.

I draw Flamingos when I don’t know what to draw 😂
The paint looks so solid and satisfying on the cat field piece. Is that watercolor or something else? Your description only mentions watercolor so I’m not sure
I think it might be gouache or acrylic gouache
I am 99% sure it is the Holbein acrylic gouache, I have seen those exact containers before and I know Kasey has mentioned them in the past!
I usually end up falling into a hole of not knowing what to draw until I remember not to think about it too much :'))) art can be hard to enjoy sometimes
Yey! Do it! Draw an elephant, a giraffe, dolphin even. Plant creatures was a damn good idea, go for it!
This is so much fun! I love sketchbook sessions!!! Awesome video!! ❤❤
I draw weird crossover art
I love doing female anime characters and fan art, my style is so niche but I enjoy doing it ^_^
I don’t draw unless I have a precise idea of what I want to draw… or I find inspiration in class
I look at Pinterest art inspiration
Iv never been this early
