Great video! I have transformed my body in the past 3 years. Everything you say here is true. It is like I am a different person in a lot of ways. I live as a health conscious, fitness enthusiast now. My health and vitality is my priority. It does take time and it is worth every minute!

I agree. More than anything, you have to want to make a lifestyle change.

Dear Dan, I discovered you through the account of a teammate with whom I work. We all follow you on Instagram. These RUclipss you make hit home more for me personally and I wish to share my gratitude for all you Do. Today, this 2 avril 2024 I am 54 days without a drink and without a cigarette. My problem today is managing my weight and achieving my fitness goals. Watching this video gave me the inspiration to write this comment and I will rematch this with a pen and a pad. That said I find it difficult to start and I find it difficult to be consistent. What do you personally or professionally recommend to overcome this problem? Hopefully this comment finds you one day. Thank you for your time.

Thanks for the comment. My advice is to forget about any type of outcome like weight loss, muscle gain or anything of the sort. Make the goal to show up.
When I first started working out I didn't care about getting in shape. My only goal was to walk through the gym doors every day. I didn't have a plan. Sometimes I walked in and left immediately.
But I kept showing up because that goal was so small it was ultimately achievable.
So commit to showing up. Condense that action down to one thing. Then keep doing it. Over time you'll develop a habit of being in the arena and once you're there you'll be surprised at what you do.

My Dad has been fit his whole entire life. I used to think that it was mostly genetics (he was skinny from childhood). However, his dad wasn't thin. He mom was in decent shape, but by no means thin. The reality is that my dad was involved in sports as a kid, didn't spend much time at home (meaning was always outside). He lead an active lifestyle. He's never been a big eater. He's 76 now, and "must" go for a 30 minute brisk walk every morning...like his day feels off if he doesn't get some movement in. That's why he's 6 foot and 185 at his age. In his 50's he was probably in mid 170's and could do pull ups and could hold an L-Position on a dip bar. Meaning, it wasn't really genetics the whole time. It was his lifestyle.

I know I'm supposed to watch a video completely before I leave a comment but I immediately had to pause this video. 3 years ago at the weight of 168 lb and 5'4 I told my mom I was going to go on a diet and lose weight and start working out with my husband. She immediately told me why bother because I would gain that weight back. I lost the weight and got stronger my first year. I've kept the weight off and continued getting stronger unfortunately my mom died last year but every time I go into the gym I think about her and think haha told you so that I would keep it off. I now weigh 128 lb at 5'4. I have struggled to get off the last 20 lb of fat mostly because I am an alcoholic. Still working on that aspect of my life.

all these whooshing and clicking sounds are not listener friendly. i listen to a lot of videos in my car like a podcast and those sounds make the video unwatchable along with the voice effects and bombs. too much too often. great content though

Dan, this is great. It seems to be the same idea as the identity change in James Clear‘s Atomic Habits and Shad Helmstetter‘s What To Say When You Talk To Yourself!
