  • Dovetail Games have released the long anticipated Sherman Hill route for Train Sim World 2. Now that I've had some decent play time I'm going to take you on a bit of an introductory tour of parts of the route as well as the SD70ACe and the SD40-2 supplied with the route DLC. Along the way I will show you the things I like and a couple of little issues and talk about my overall opinion.

    It isn’t really dynamic weather but the higher you are or the colder the location rain will switch to snow

    • @trainsimulatordriver
      @trainsimulatordriver  2 года назад

      How do you mean it's not dynamic? Or do you mean you'd like rain at say San Bernardino and snow on Cajon Pass summit?

    • @ControlPointDonelson
      @ControlPointDonelson 2 года назад +1

      @@trainsimulatordriver It Is kind of dynamic in a sense that it takes what is around the real world tempature and changes the precipitation based on that but at the same time it wont go from sunny to rainy in one drive. Thats what I mean, not fully dynamic, partially dynamic

      @@ControlPointDonelson Ah I'd see that as local weather and you've never visited Melbourne we can have 40C (110F) 5C (40F) rain and hail all in the same hour. This dynamic weather is weather that randomly cycles through the different weather settings. Its realistic for some places in the world but I agree there are some places it would never or rarely change if it was based off local weather

    Nice one man, have subbed. Been thinking for awhile about getting a Raildriver, would you recommend?

    • @trainsimulatordriver
      @trainsimulatordriver  2 года назад

      Thanks! I enjoy using the Raildriver. It does have its issues but overall its pretty decent. They certainly aren't cheap, but if it's any help mine is nearly 20 years old and still going! I think it's the only hardware I've got that's lasted that long. Its moved countries twice just tossed in a box so it's fairly robust.

    I'm playing Hermosa-Cheyenne Yard Grain & my train stalls on going downhill once it comes to a stop I can't get her up & moving again it just slips & the trains going down hill but it won't run it just stalls won't move any? Can you please help me?

    • @trainsimulatordriver
      @trainsimulatordriver  2 года назад

      Have you only just crested the summit Jon? If its on the crest then the locomotives will be going down hill but your mile of train will still be climbing behind you. If its later than that, its possible you've exhausted the air from the braking system or have the dynamic brakes too heavily applied. It is also possible the alerter has applied an emergency brake. If you can give me some more info I can try to help more.

      @@trainsimulatordriver All I know is when the trains going down hill kinda fast I go to slow her down and keeps reducing speed then it comes to a hault then it stalls doesn't wanna move I try to give it a Lil more speed but it slows to a complete stop then it won't move it slips but nothing happens I messed around & finally got it back up running just afraid if I'm going to fast & reduce the speed it'll stop running then stuck again 😳🤔🤔

    • @trainsimulatordriver

      @@jonspikes4935 Ah ok I've got an idea of what's happening, when you apply the brakes it's a big train, it will take several minutes to apply across the whole train, similarly when you release it will take several minutes to recharge the train brake pipe and release all the brakes. In the mean time you've stopped. To get down the hill use the dynamic brakes (throttle to idle), dynamics to setup (first notch) wait 10 seconds then increase the dynamics to the point that they take hold and start controlling the train. You should be running down the grade at about 20mph.

    i’ve heard that people have been encountering the UP ES44AC from cane creek on this route, as a random spawn. do you know anything about this?

    • @greatmeme

      as an EMD 710 enthusiast, i’m just concerned i won’t be getting my money’s worth out of this route given the state of the SD70ACe engine sounds. deflated all my excitement for this route for sure

    • @trainsimulatordriver
      @trainsimulatordriver  2 года назад +1

      It is in the list of locos available to drive and it does seem to pop in on the odd AI. DTG Matt mentioned on a stream the Cane Creek locos aren't meant to be there. Perhaps it'll get corrected in a future update. To check if you have a Sherman Hill or Cane Creek loco just try the horn. If it sounds a little flat and boring its Cane Creek, if it sounds awesome its Sherman Hill.

      @@trainsimulatordriver darn, the two locomotives would be perfect together and i don’t see why we can’t have it that way. dovetail i guess

    • @trainsimulatordriver
      @trainsimulatordriver  2 года назад +1

      @@greatmeme the two routes have different systems - Sherman Hill has evolved, the loco will work but it would need adjustments and sometimes it will have unexpected results with braking - if it were a deliberate substitution then the updates would have been done
