I know Clapton ain’t the fastest, greatest, most technical player, but name me another guitarist who can build a solo like that from start to finish ? Not even Cream era Clapton could. The phrasing, tone, melody and pure emotion is untouchable.
I think there's only 1 that tops this, and it's the 21 nights version. The is phenomenal! The video version, not the record one. The first note of the last solo is.... something else.
WTF 497k views, I must have a thousand of those. 62 years old and have loved and seen so many guitar greats; Page, Townsend, Jerry, SRV, Mars, Slash, Carlos, Prince, Satriani, Eddie…and Eric. He is on a higher stratosphere. This song and the guitar work may be one of the best of all time. He takes you, lifts you, and takes you on the ride with him. Chills.
@@goftheday489 Nope, this one is a lot better. And i would put unplugged version after. 24 Nights just good interpretation, nothing outrages, more of a solid band version.
When that tone changes to the hard electric it sends chills through my spine. Every time even though I’ve watched this 100 times. God I wish Eric played more like that.
It's 2024, that's 28 years ago, I absolutely hate to consider this thought, but when Eric is no longer on this planet, is that the end of blues masters? And if you don't no the answer, then you don't know the answer!
If I could write and play I should have written and played all of my feelings about my old love....I cried and shouted, did silly things and found stupid substitutes, lovers I did not love....then I stopped, because my old love never really left me; he stayed in my soul ! Thank You, Eric❤️❤❤❤❤
That low sax adds so much.!! The horns are great! Perfection. This skinny Englishman can play the hell out of his guitar. I love this song & video. Great ending........
I remember this concert so well. Eric was on fire and really enjoying himself. His set mixed his own classics with blues standards. I’ve seen Eric about ten times and this was one of the best. I think he really raises his game when there are other great artists on the bill, like there was at this gig (Alanis Morrisette, The Who, Bob Dylan, Jules Holland…)
This solo gets right under your skin strike in to your heart. This is exactly that pain that almost all of man felt with love that never been mutual. If you will ask me what I felt when I loved her and she never care, i would say, listen to this solo, it's all there.
Beyond sublime. I attended this concert & you could never have wanted for a more perfect, more melodic, more emotionally penetrative rendition of any song than Clapton delivered on this night.... ..
Bez wątpliwości Hyde Park 1996, to moim zdaniem najlepszy koncert Erica Claptona w karierze, niepowtarzalny profesor gitary, towarzyszący mu wspaniali muzycy oraz super chórek. Pozdrawiam z Polski wszystkich fanów Erica Claptona!
I love this song! This video is great!!! Eric still has it!!! This white man has a boat load of soul..... A wonderful video.....!!!!!! More please!!!!!!
can u tell me one ...only one guitarist who can play with such emotion and feeling !! this guitar solo is just outstanding and that s why eric is my favourite blues musician and i listened to all of them since the beginning of the 20 th century until now

This has to be one of the best guitar tones I've ever heard, anywhere.
Puce
This guitar tone is great yes, but try "One Day" by Gary Moore, see if it changes your mind
@@kreatiftroubadour6738 good but not as Eric
@@kreatiftroubadour6738 Gary Moore 'Separate ways' live even better
loud and clean amp with a strat and his mid boost thingy
My guitar watches this video when I’m not at home
😂
Anyone in 2024 ?
everyday
still my all time favorite solo
hell yeah!
✌🏾
I look at my electric guitar and say: " im so sorry you deserve better"
👍🏼😂
This is the most underrated record of a concert the youtube history has seen so far..
I totally agree
Dead on accurate, its one i cant help myself but to keep returning over and over again.
I do not understand the 260k vieuws. In my opinion this is the best version on RUclips.
Madison Square Garden 1999 is a great one also
Best version ever
Oh TOTALLY!!!!
The best solo I have ever heard on guitar. Sure, we all have a different and I am just glad I am lucky enough to hear this one.
Easily..
This and the unplugged version!
1999 madison square gardens is by far the best version
My favourite Clapton moment in history
Great song..Love you..Great Man..28.12.2021.
And how!
The climax of the solo with the pinch harmonics is pure genius.
He was playing as well as he ever did at that point. Clean and sober and on top of his game for sure.
Exactly. The way he plays those pinch harmonics without any mistake is just unbelievable.
Unbelievable greatest moment of solo climax in history
5:57 finishes phrase, harmonic slide, hands off then stabs into huge bend. The entire universe is in tune at that moment!
Great observation
You nailed it !!!
That solo will clear your soul up.
I know Clapton ain’t the fastest, greatest, most technical player, but name me another guitarist who can build a solo like that from start to finish ? Not even Cream era Clapton could. The phrasing, tone, melody and pure emotion is untouchable.
Yep. That’s the beauty of Clapton. He is the best improviser among the other guitarists.
Absolutely!!! Truly one of the greatest guitarists in terms of feel and emotions.
Art at it's finest!!!
Fun fact - nobody is the fastest, greatest, most technical player.
Nineties Clapton was his prime IMO.
Got to be one of the best solos of all time this one. Amazing.
I think there's only 1 that tops this, and it's the 21 nights version. The is phenomenal! The video version, not the record one. The first note of the last solo is.... something else.
This song made me cry while watching today for no good and every good reason.
It mades me cry too.
Best version of all time . The
guitar solo is EPIC .
Masterpiece.
Best live version of Old Love imo. ❤
Best live performance of Old Love
Honestly, nobody can touch this right here. Clapton is God! I feel this in my bones. Damn. Old Love GO home!
Greatest solo of all time with the great Steve “God” holding down the beat. Absolutely fantastic.
Gadd the God..
Gadd, East, Preston and FairWeather Low.. my favorite line up.

Definitely the best version of this song!
24 Nights Live one is way better.

everything Eric have gone through

Such an emotional solo...

Same happens to me also, even after 100 times

You have come to the right place
So far, the best guitar solo I've ever heard ..
Eric Clapton is above the other masters! Awesome!
One of the best live performances ever, if not, the best one! 👏🏾 👏🏾
That smile to Steve at 7:26 tells me he knew he killed it!
It's that moment where you feel that the crowd was astonished
