Oscar, for those who play, respect, and love the album format, those songs are never forgotten. I am 60, and I have been listening to full albums since 1976. I discovered HammerFall in the ‘90s, and I always play the full albums. Keep writing!!!
OSCAR DRONJAK is such a fantastic man! A true enthusiast of pure heavy metal, video games...etc It's nice to see that there are still such authentic people! Thank you for this superb interview!😊😊
Within the last two weeks I found out about Hammer Fall , I then immediately followed them on Spotify and for the last several days have been listening to every album non stop...so so so good. My only disappointment is that I didn't start listening to them sooner. 🤘
@@Scubasgamecorner first time for everything my dude i was in my teens when i first heard hammerfall, and then my half brother was telling me about them so had to check them out,and there is so many bands out there to discover 🤘
Same for me. They instantly got me when I saw them as support of Powerwolf! What a fantastic band, and I sincerely hope that they make a Headliner tour in the next year!
Yessss!! Thank you! I’m definitely a full album listener and I absolutely appreciate when bands know that “we” people still exist. It’s the essence of metal; good from start to finish. It’s exactly how any musician should think and feel. Hammerfall is absolutely fun and amazing to listen to from beginning to end; every album, every day and time 🤘🏼
I actually got into music because of Renegade. I was 6 when it came out and i saw the video on grynets show (swedish kids show) and got hooked. Still one of my favorite albums and bands 24 years later.
In a days of my youth i used to listen "At the end of the rainbow" on repeat for 24/7. And then get into their other stuff. This band is a legend. Love them.
Oh maaaan, i listened to Renegade so much back in the day! Together with Edguy they were really flying the flag of metal at the end of the 90ies. Let the hammer fall!!
Saw these guys for the first time last summer when they opened for Helloween at the Filmore in Minne... 55 been going to shows for 40 years, best show I ever been to hands down...
Good interview, Excellent band. Glory to the Brave was my first CD by them. Was a nice change from grunge that took over everything where I lived in the 90s.
I still listen to full albums as well. The album is a means of organizing a group of songs that all share some sonic similarity, whether due to being recorded with the same equipment or settings, composed around the same time, or with the same production techniques. As such, albums are still useful for anyone who likes one song and wants to hear more like it. One can usually hear similar songs on the same album. One song will give me a taste of an artist. But if I find a band I like, I'll want to know their music on a deeper level than just what one song can allow. That's why albums have value. They are a sufficiently long sample of an artist to get a sense of what they are like.
Would never have thought they have 13 albums by now. The two quick high notes in "where the dragon lies bleeding" are the best thing in all heavy metal.
HAMMERFALL Is One of the Most Honest, True, Epic, & Definitely Awesome Power Metal Acts of All Time, & Favorite of mine since the Release of Glory to The Brave . . . Avenge The Fallen is Fantastic ! ! ! ☀️☄️❤️🔥⚔️🌙
I may not be a big HammerFall fan so much anymore but I can't deny their impact they had in my life. They put Euro Power Metal & just great Nordic Metal in general on my radar with "Hearts on Fire" music video back in the day.
I love that bands still write albums! I never quit listening to albums. I skip a song from times to time, but it’s so deep in my brain, that it always feels weird, if the “wrong” song follows a song I love on playlists etc.
Hammerfall are legends. Renegade was my first metal album. When I was 12 or 13 I got the opportunity to listen to the first minute of 'Templars of Steel' in a record store, and right there I became a metal head. While I don't listen much to Hammerfall today, they'll always have a special place in my heart.
Man tackar för ett kul fika prat. kul att hör lite från Oskar och blev glad för några år sedan när jag hörde att Pontus började med er. helt rätt person för ett cool band. Lev Väl. Pinge
Been a fan of Hammerfall since 2008 and will be seeing them when they come to my hometown next year🤙🤘 My music range changed littarely once I heard Hammerfall as Oscar pointed out, thanks guys👍
My main thoughts when I was listening to new album were that the hammerfall is a reliable band. I know what I can expect from them (more less) and they will deliver. I am glad that it is consistent with what Oscar says :) thank you kings for your music!
Ahh I remember when Legacy Of Kings dropped in 98 when I was 13 years old. My mind was blowned and I fell in love with the powermetal genre. Went from Metallica and Judas Priest to bands like Edguy, Stratovarius, Blind Guardian, Gamma Ray and so on :)
In 97-98 when I was 13-14, Me and my friends where all about hanging out in the basement, playing Dungeons and dragons and Warhammer Fantasy Battles and listening to Glory to the brave, Legacy of kings and Rhapsody's Legendary Tales and Symphony of enchanted lands. And we even got my friend step dad to go all in on Power metal, because he thought it reminded him so much of all the NWOBH that he grew up on hold dearly. Ola is god damn right when saying that Hammerfall was a gateway band to metal. Punk and Power metal defined my youth and paved the way for my taste of heavier stuff. However, I am quite sad and embarrassed to say that Renegade was the last album by Hammerfall that I bought and listened, and I haven't listen to any of the records since. I guess that by the time Crimson Thunder was released I was 18, was more into heavier stuff, and I at that time thought that they had gone to mainstream with Renegade, and was not a band for us nerds any longer. Years later, I don't remember where I read or heard it, It might have been in the excellent book, "Blood Fire Death: A Swedish Metal Story", where either Joakim or Oscar when interviewed said something along the sentiments of "We just did what we wanted to do and what felt right, the band got some good winds pushing our sails, and then suddenly everyone thought we where sellouts and left and hated us, and we just stood there and didn't understand why?" When I heard that I felt kind of bad, because I was one of those fans that turned my back on the band. But I will never forget the amazing feeling when Glory to the brave started spinning and I for the first time heard the riffing and drums of the intro to The Dragon Lies Bleeding, it spoke to me from the first second, it was magic.
Renagade and Crimson Thunder are special albums, really top class heavy speed metal. They are still good but not even close how they were with Stefan. After his departure they are just not on a same level...
Love Hammerfall saw them back in 2018 down in Louisville KY. My best friend's son was on his shoulders and he gave him a pick. I had it for six years because it got lost in my car. Finders keepers but I did give it back sadly 😂
Gamma ray, Blind Guardian, Hammerfall and Stratovarius took the torch and kept the heavy metal alive for me in the 90's!
Oh yeah, Gamma Ray & Stratovarius... holy hell
Absolutely yes
*speed/power metal
And Induction is now picking up that torch 😃
@@WRXkrass Kamelot, Edguy, Iced Earth, Primal Fear also, and new albums from Helloween, Grave Digger.

It's great listening to two Targaryens talking about metal 🐲🎸🎶
What a legend. Legacy of Kings is still one of my favourite albums. Thanks Ola.
Haven't listened to Hammerfall in like 15 years, but this was one of your best interviews. Oscar is a great guy!
Two guests I would love to see on coffee with Ola.

Also worth mentioning, the bass tone on the album is SICK 🔥🤘🏽

Hammerfall opened me up to so many awesome bands. Just made the station on Pandora, and let 'er rip.

it would be great to see your guest to plug into some different amps and guitars and play their favourite riffs....
Everyone is always picking on "Gangland". Love that song.
