Man, that would be disheartening to be next to them hearing them write some of the best music ever and you're just like, how the hell do I even compete with that?!? Could you hear them writing those classic albums I'm guessing?
Holy shit! been a fan for ages since I first listened to "Imaginations from the other side", got to meet the band in 2002 and they signed my "Somewhere far beyond" CD
Marcus was (and still is) my childhood hero, and the biggest reason why I started playing guitar. Still one of my biggest influences, especialy for rhythm playing! I can say I made my way through music scene/industry in my country, and somehow I feel that I owe that to him.
Not only one of the greatest guitarists, but -based on interviews and rumours, I've never met him- one of the nicest and most decent people ever. Thank you, Ola, for bringing in such a legend!
He speaks the same way he plays, very intelligent and eloquent. When I listen to him play I get the feeling there’s nothing he can’t do. An absolute master…
The man, the myth, the legend, Geralt de Rivia. One of my all time heros, Marcus Siepen. What a great conversation. Congratulations and thank you, Ola.🤘
Someone far beyond humble. Such a great guy. The show in Sittard for the Somewhere far beyond cycle was one of the greatest moments in my life... birth of my kids, then this show in the tiny venue just around the corner of Hansi's house haha
Thanks for this wonderful interview! It is really nice to see such a relaxed interview without the normal top 10 questions but rather a conversation between two people with mutual interests. Saw them in Gothenburg and the concert was amazing. Marcus looked like Geralt of Rivia from the Witcher 🙂
WHOA! 2 guitarists of my favorite bands, Blind Guardian and THE HAUNTED. I've seen them live and own their entire catalogs. And I don't live in Europe, BTW, I live in The States.
Blind Guardian and Maiden are the best heavy Metal bands to me, BG still got better new albums thought, Ansi still got an amazing voice !! Great Band and Music !
I remember back in the days when I had to import SFB here in Sweden. Saw them in Uppsala for like 100 people. When we played support for them in Trädgårdn in Gothenburg 25 years later and had dinner with them i didnt dare to be a fanboy. 😂 But still SFB had such a big impact on me.
Just wanted to say that teaching their version of Uriah Heep's song The Wizard to people that wants to learn guitar is a great gateway to the magic of playing guitar. It has all the "cheats, tricks, chips and tips" of how the fret operates (to a novice. There's more to it I know). And Blind Guardian, oh man, for a band that big, it's sort of weird so few metal fans have listened to them. Sure, they have their ups and downs, but they have remained as consistent as Maiden, Sabbath and Priest over the years, and have existed for almost as long. If you like NWOBHM, but haven't heard Blind Guardian yet, I sort of envy you. Hansi is a unique voice in metal, and the guitars are also unique. Simple, straight to the point, but not without the magic of metal.
Wow, seeing Marcus' hair made me realize how old I am. I've been a fan of Blind Guardian for 24 years. I've always been a fan of his, and with this interview, I love him even more.
"Imaginations From The Other Side" was my entrance into BG and i was a big fan for quite some time. I still follow a bit, what they are doing. They were really nice when my buddies and i met them on the "Guardian X-mas Tour" in 1996, i believe, with Yngwie Malmsteen, Skyclad and Rage. It was their stop in Kiel and we were talking a bit, especially to Marcus. He invited us to come with them in the bus to the next stop, which was Hannover. And we idiots refused, because we had our obligations, the next day...😂🙈
What a surprise! I was listening Blind Guardian five minutes ago. And I was watching Ola's video one hour ago. Now you're both in one video. I summoned this event by my actions. Damn I'm good!
I was turned on too blind guardian from a video game called "sacred" they had a quest line too find different "weapons" for a blind guy. Anyway once completed you got a cut scene an the song was "this is sacred" an honestly it was pretty damn epic.
Blind Guardian together with Rhapsody of Fire is the reason why I'm into metal. To me the Bards are gods, so like came almost right after reading the title. Marcus is the GOAT.
It's so cool to hear you talk about the game Diablo at the end of the video, because I used to listen to Blind Guardian as a teenager while playing Diablo. What a wonderful combination, good times!
As an amateur drummer I have no idea of half the things they are talking about but I enjoyed this talk a lot! Marcus seems like a super chill intelligent guy. Also love that he is passionate about comics, and video games! Btw that presets stuff was really illuminating, I also noticed most bands sound similar so it was good to learn why it happens.
Blind Guardian is such an amazingly talented band. I saw them open for Symphony X years ago and was mesmerized by their atmosphere and how huge they sounded. I'm also convinced that I could've been their bass player........ if they had any clue who I even am. 😆
I think it’s really interesting how the tools change how bands write music. I’m a huge fan of all Blind Guardian eras, and it’s cool to think that the early albums have that distinct sound because the band was essentially jamming together, whereas something like a Night at the Opera was only possible because they invested on studio equipment, and the later albums likely produced digitally. I think there is also a place to self impose limitations in technology to spark creativity.
Finally got to watch this interview and I smiled the entire time. Great job Ola! The Guitar he helped design with Solar is one of the most beautiful and impressive guitars I have ever seen. I love the no Push pull, the design and color immediately trigger a deep fantasy feel. Hope you are recovering swiftly from the surgery and in zero pain sir. Chug on 🤘🧡🔥🧡🤘
Great episode! :D Playing early like in Japan seems awesome. Im quite sick of playing past midnight shows. The earlier the better. If you have show the day after, you need good rest, but with super late shows, it's almost impossible!
I was late to the Blind Guardian game so only first heard them when they released A Night At The Opera and it blew my mind! Still not a big power metal fan but BG has always been just a cut above all the rest... killer band!
Thanks for this, Ola and Marcus, such an amazing interview! Blind Guardian is one of my greatest influences and Solar Guitars is my favorite guitar brand. Legends! Also loves the Dark Souls shirt!
He is one of the best rhythm players in the world. He must have a right hand out of concrete. Andre can ease his hand a bit while playing leads but Marcus does all the rhythms all the time. It's like Hetfield^3! My arm would fall off after two minutes! And he is a nice guy also, obviously.
Zero Mishtayks. Whether it's active pickups, wireless mics, or even a camera... darn batteries always die at the most inopportune times. Still, loved this interview. Learned a bunch about Evertune. Thanks Ola and Marcus!
Great as usual! Marcus is such a nice guy! And hes almost Brazilian haha, dope! One thing that i noticed, his voice tone is really close to helloween´s Weikath.
You should try to get Michael Weikath on this. I'm sure it would be a weird interview and he probably wouldn't even do it, but i'd love to hear what he has to say.
Hey Ray! I am totally with you when it comes to everyday repeatable Tone, especially for your Kind of music. I just think that some music lives from the earthshattering tone that you get from an tube or big transistor amplifier like Doom and other post metal stuff. Thanks for the content! 💪
It was a pleasure my friend, next time we upgrade from water with Ola to the classic coffee version 😂
Hello Marcus!
You were fantastic in Glasgow Marcus. Thanks for a great evening
you are one of my guitar heroes fun interview
It was amazing to see you guys in Curitiba! An experience I will never forget!
Hi Geralt :) I thought AttwS was in E, maybe the only song that isn't E flat, right?
Thanks!
used to have our practice room next to Blind Guardian (in Krefeld, Germany) in the 1990s 😎
Man, that would be disheartening to be next to them hearing them write some of the best music ever and you're just like, how the hell do I even compete with that?!?
Could you hear them writing those classic albums I'm guessing?
What’s your band
That is amazing!!! 😮
Thank you for having one of my childhood heroes there, Ola!
I see Marcus, I press like
Imaginations from the other Side is a Masterpiece, a must have Metal Album in every collection
And so is Nightfall in Middle Earth.
@antoniusmetal such an incredible album 😍 🙌 👏
Love Blind Guardian since teenage years. Gr8 original non generic stuff. Thanks Ola
Holy shit! been a fan for ages since I first listened to "Imaginations from the other side", got to meet the band in 2002 and they signed my "Somewhere far beyond" CD
Marcus is an underrated GOAT on rhythm guitars. The guy has been playing like a quantized machine for 30 years. Insane guitar player, rock solid.
Marcus is one of my heroes. One of the most nostalgic and great experiences was seeing Blind Guardian live. Amazing band live
Marcus was (and still is) my childhood hero, and the biggest reason why I started playing guitar. Still one of my biggest influences, especialy for rhythm playing! I can say I made my way through music scene/industry in my country, and somehow I feel that I owe that to him.

Blind Guardian been one of my favorites since I was 12 soon as I heard vahalla it was over🤘🏻seeing them in May for the first time
Same! May 3rd for me
The man, the myth, the legend, Geralt de Rivia. One of my all time heros, Marcus Siepen. What a great conversation. Congratulations and thank you, Ola.🤘
A German and a Swede are impressed by Japanese efficiency, that says something!🙂Another super interview Ola!👍❤
Huge Blind Guardian fan here, this interview kicked some serious ass. Marcus and Andre are awesome!
Blind Guardian are such a unique band, so happy that you got Marcus for a video.
one of the first bands i discovered on my own in metal. 24 years ago or so. my comfort music. this was stellar
Someone far beyond humble. Such a great guy. The show in Sittard for the Somewhere far beyond cycle was one of the greatest moments in my life... birth of my kids, then this show in the tiny venue just around the corner of Hansi's house haha

The album "imaginations from the other side " changed my life forever. Metalhead since then. Thank you Ola, Thank you mr. Siepen !

And I don't live in Europe, BTW, I live in The States.
The fact Marcus plays professor Layton warms my heart!!!
Blind Guardian and Maiden are the best heavy Metal bands to me, BG still got better new albums thought, Ansi still got an amazing voice !! Great Band and Music !
One of my childhood heroes, what a pleasure seeing you in the same room!

Just saw BG last night in Maryland, killer show! He played that beautiful green Solar guitar for the whole set.
Saw BG in Glasgow recently. Absolutely amazing. Everyone should try to see them. One of the best bands around

Marcus is so eloquent. Always nice to see him talking.
Marcus is an absolute legend!👍
I dont know how effective a guardian who can't see would be, but I looked these cats up and they rip ass.
This Will Never End! 🤘
This is SO cool, to see my mate Marcus with my favorite youtuber Ola in my favourite format! Thanks for this awesome video, Ola!
Wow that guitar!!! ❤️
Dude is so humble and genuine!
Marcus, what a nice guy and an underrated player. Great interview as usual ❤
Super nice guy and one helluva guitarist. Great interview Ola.🤘🏻😎
What a surprise! I was listening Blind Guardian five minutes ago. And I was watching Ola's video one hour ago. Now you're both in one video. I summoned this event by my actions. Damn I'm good!

Great episode and Marcus is such a nice dude !
I was turned on too blind guardian from a video game called "sacred" they had a quest line too find different "weapons" for a blind guy. Anyway once completed you got a cut scene an the song was "this is sacred" an honestly it was pretty damn epic.
Man, long waited for this. Have a new favorite RUclips video ever now. Thanks Ola for having Marcus with you.❤❤

It's so cool to hear you talk about the game Diablo at the end of the video, because I used to listen to Blind Guardian as a teenager while playing Diablo. What a wonderful combination, good times!
This will be the first new Solar I buy, and the first evertune guitar. A must have!
"The last thing I need is another guitar. The first thing I want is another guitar." This is me, but with effects pedals. GAS is a real thing.
Just saw them live yesterday and, my god, what a show. These dudes are absolute beasts from another dimension.
Coffee with Jesper Stromblad!
So wild to see such a lord of guitar casually talk about the mechanics of being so badass. Brilliant.
Blind Guardian is such an amazingly talented band. I saw them open for Symphony X years ago and was mesmerized by their atmosphere and how huge they sounded.
I'm also convinced that I could've been their bass player........ if they had any clue who I even am. 😆

Playing early like in Japan seems awesome.
Im quite sick of playing past midnight shows.
The earlier the better. If you have show the day after, you need good rest, but with super late shows, it's almost impossible!
The gig at Fryshuset was totally amazing. This interview was a real treat.
I was late to the Blind Guardian game so only first heard them when they released A Night At The Opera and it blew my mind! Still not a big power metal fan but BG has always been just a cut above all the rest... killer band!

Great coffee with Ola! And that guitar is just ♥♥♥
That was awesome, thanks Ola for another great interview.
Thanks ola for bringing one of my favourite guitar player to the show :) such a nice guy :)
He is one of the best rhythm players in the world. He must have a right hand out of concrete. Andre can ease his hand a bit while playing leads but Marcus does all the rhythms all the time. It's like Hetfield^3! My arm would fall off after two minutes! And he is a nice guy also, obviously.
Man.. I saw him in Brasília. Very inspiring!
Marcus is the MAN! Awesome coffee with Ola!
Fantastic ❤ Imaginations from the other side was the album that got me into metal back in the days.
What a legend!
Zero Mishtayks. Whether it's active pickups, wireless mics, or even a camera... darn batteries always die at the most inopportune times.

What a cool guy, and great interview.
Great as usual! Marcus is such a nice guy! And hes almost Brazilian haha, dope! One thing that i noticed, his voice tone is really close to helloween´s Weikath.
yes
You should try to get Michael Weikath on this. I'm sure it would be a weird interview and he probably wouldn't even do it, but i'd love to hear what he has to say.
I’d love that. Love Helloween
Hey Ray! I am totally with you when it comes to everyday repeatable Tone, especially for your Kind of music. I just think that some music lives from the earthshattering tone that you get from an tube or big transistor amplifier like Doom and other post metal stuff. Thanks for the content! 💪
