Buffalo, thanks for the plug. That really means a lot to me. A bunch of your viewers showed up today and commented. Great bunch of "guys and gals". Thanks again!
You're very welcome. I have some great people subscribed to this channel (just like yourself). I read through my comments section and my viewers are a predominately positive bunch. Even their criticisms are sincere so I keep an open mind and listen to them. Your channel is great, I can't make anyone subscribe but if I can help them find channels like yours I believe they will do so. Keep up the good work.
The reason I watch your channel? No bullshit , no adds for products . Just the facts . I consider you an expert in every aspect. Thank you for keeping it real .
"I never claimed to be a professional." Buffalo, don't underestimate yourself. You ARE a True Professional in many eyes and I really appreciate the time and effort you put in you videos. Great stuff!
I appreciate that! I really try but sometimes the wheels fall off. For example leaving that golf cart in reverse...LOL I had no idea it was buzzing until I took my ear plugs out but then it was too late. The damage was done. I am just glad you guys put up with me!
I have the same Mossberg 500 that is used in the video. With the Federal Shorty #4 buckshot 15 pellet load. I can get 11+1 in my gun. 12 rounds over 8 rounds of standard 2 3/4" loads. With the Opsol mini clip, they function perfectly. Great for home defense.
Hey, don't apologize for a lack of professionalism. You're plenty professional and your videos are just fine because you know what you're talking about and you present things in a level headed down to earth manner. I've been shooting and working on guns for literally 50 years, so I know what I'm talking about. Keep up the good work!
Thanks again for the plug on our mini clip. We are working on 20 ga minis, as well as some interesting 12 and 20 minis that behave differently at different yardage. When we tested the Aguila slugs back in 2015, it went through the ballistic gel, the plywood, and the hold desktop pc we put behind it......
Love these mini shotshells. Looks like the velocity is right there with the advertised velocity. Great to hear. Thanks for taking the time to make this video.
"I never claimed to be a professional." Mate, don't sell yourself short. I could watch and listen to you all day long. Your videos are informative and give us what we'd love to know. Thanks for the video's keep 'em rolling. Appreciate your efforts here in Australia.
Over the last couple of years I have really gotten into these mini shells but even I didn't expect them to go all the way through all those jugs of water! That is very impressive.
@@buffalosoutdoors Actually, it is the same gun L.E. of Fed's use except for minor changes. It is actually a Mossberg 500 with a few less features. Best to ya',,,,!
I know this is an old video but thanks a bunch. My son uses these slugs in his NEF rifled barreled slug gun because we couldn't get them to cycle in any pump. He has shot several deer with it including a 10 pointer within 50 yards. I butchered the deer and recovered all the slugs under the skin with no exit hole and none of the slugs expanded. none of the deer ran more than 50 yards. It is an awesome slug with practically no recoil.
The sound they made at the end was pretty cool sounding. Glad someone made a video on these as I cane across some and was wondering about them and actually when I searched these shells yours was the second video.
I tried these when they were newer on the market from the bench just to compare with 2 3/4 shells, and they worked out really well, but dropped off trajectory pretty quickly after 25 yards. Just my experience. Thanks for the vid.
GREAT PRESENTATION as always Buffalo! At the academy we used to run two chronographs in series to insure fairly accurate readings. Typically we would get ~ 1500 fps with a 12 ga. 1 oz. (435 gr.) rifled slug through a 20” cylinder bore barrel.
That sounds about right to me! When shooting shotgun slugs I try to get as close to the chronograph as I can to avoid it picking up a wad or over powder card but if I get to close the muzzle blast causes errors so it's a balance. I appreciate you Kent.
Ive been on the fence about those mini shells. But after watching both of your reviews on them, I can say I am impressed. I didn't think you would be able to hit the target at 75 Yards on the fist shot with the slug. I was sold then. I also like that shotgun. Now to justify it to my wife. Thank you for your reviews. I find them helpful.
As you can tell from both videos I too continue to be surprised by these little mini shells. I know that they would start to drop off fast after about 75 yards so that's what I figured I'd try with those last 5 shells. Granted it was a large gong I was shooting but that's still pretty good for such a short little slug. Thanks for the comment. I am glad you are enjoying the videos....good luck making your case for the shotgun, the Maverick 88 is the best value going on a pump shotgun in my opinion.
Very impressive results from your test. I keep these around for my old single shot and I found they run perfectly in my Kel Tech KS7. No modifications needed.
Used your video as a recommendation to buy a Mossberg Maverick 88 and ordered the OPSOL adapter!!! Had a month long bout of Covid so I needed something with less kick Keep up the great videos!!
I was surprised at the energy of those shells almost as much as by the 75 SD. Perhaps they were loaded on Monday morning or Friday afternoon. Thanks, Buff! It was both informative and entertaining. "I never claimed to be a professional." LOL No, just a talented amateur.
Thanks! I try my best to deliver good videos but sometimes I really struggle. Like leaving the golf cart in reverse for example. I had no idea it was buzzing like that until I took my ear plugs out!
Buffalo I bought a Turkish single shot 12 gauge shotgun. These short shells would work well in it. I did purchase a 45 Colt adapter that allows me to shot my reloads, 250 g. a about 800 ft/sec. You did a video using a 22lr adapter. Thanks again. I always learn something from your videos.
Dang! Nearly 1250 ft per second outta that little shell. Impressive! I really didn't think I would be interested in them (I kinda thought they would suck) , but now I definitely want to get some. Thanks for the info.
Its weird, I clocked these at an average of 950fps at 7 yrds with a huge extreme spread. It was like 840-985 🤷♂️ I dont know if I had a bad batch or if hes a little close to the chrono and picking up gasses or unburned powder. He seems to be hitting the steel fine at range, I was grouping off the bottom of the paper at 100yrds with these. I had to raise my sights quite a bit from my normal zero.
I have the same set up in 12 gauge. The Mavrick 88 (Mossberg) with the short-shell adaptor. What I like is the recover rate after firing. There's minimum recoil so I'm immediately I'm back on target. I 've been firing these Aguila shells for a couple years now, and I have yet to find something I don't like about them. Well, sometimes they ARE a little hard to find.
Shot a bunch in my Winchester 1897 takedown simply because I didn’t want to run full slugs, and my range doesn’t allow birdshot. Worked great!!! Looking for them to go on sale at fleet farm again. Love your videos!!
Darn I'm late to the video. Loved it. I use the mini shells in my KSG. No need for the plug to help them cycle and it holds 23 of them. 1 bird shot in the chamber, 11 buck in one tube and 11 slugs in the other. A little overkill but I hate reloading until it's over.
Several years back I had three young roosters named winkin blinkin and Nod. Every morning at 5 a.m. they would start crowing. After about a week I went out made an audio tapeof them... For the following week I went out at 4:30 a.m. and crowed at them with the tape. I don't know if it helped, but I sure thought it was funny! As always Buffalo Great video, and great shootin.
Thanks for the video, good info. Some gel tests, I've seen on RUclips, show the slug passing straight through. I would have thought they would mushroom or fragment more. I'm waiting on my tax stamp on a Mossberg Shockwave. With a one shot mag extension, it will hold 9 of these mini slugs.
Good video straight to the point. Federal also has the mini, they work well, and don't forget work great in single action break barrels for example Midland shot gun, they work great as well. Keep up the good work.
I was looking for info on those mini slugs and I'm really glad I clicked in your video. Great info and a great video and you seem like a solid dude. You got yourself a new subscriber sir 🫡 I do live streams every tues thurs and sat and I'll shout your channel out on my live shows. Thanks again man
That’s impressive penetration. Water is a very tough medium for most projectiles. IMO, the absence of higher velocities, like a standard slug, plus, the slightly different slug design with the solid lead tip of the slug gives it the penetration power. Regular standard foster slugs traveling at 1,500 FPS break up in less water jugs. Great video as usual brother.
I also have a Maverick 88 like yours other than the FDE furniture, I think I will have to take the OpSol clip out of my Shockwave and put it in the 88. That is if I can find some defensive minishells locally. All I have been able to find in 2021 are no 7.5 shot, not right for home defense in my opinion. So until then I will continue to use 2.75" shells for repelling boogie men and hobgoblins. LOVE YOUR DOWN TO EARTH VIDEOS. KEEP THEM COMING.

That happens as barrels heat up and cause more drag on the projectile. Also I get what your saying about the oil causing the velocity to be higher than "normal" if you'd just been shooting out of the average cleaned firearm.
