Love subarus, havent driving anything which gives you that feel of a fast scooby ! Ive owned 8 wrxs and currently still have a GC8 WRX. The only issues are the engines 🤷♂️🤣 very expensive to rebuild and tune ! Still they are cheaper than an Evo and 99% of the fun 🙂
SPEC C Haweyes Usually come with a 6 Speed DCCD Drivetrain Gearboxox code TY856WB7JA - Might be. a nice surprise to find another gear .The old Type RA's which is the equivalent to the SPEC C had 5 gears and a close ratio box .My old TYPE RA would only do 140 MPH max speed . Subaru addressed this problem and made their Cars AutoBahn Equals to German cars around 2003 with the strong 6 speeds
type r are getting pretty expensive now. Spec C or Type R would both be good cars, worst case you sell for what you paid (or maybe even you get some profit). So worth a try. You still need to spend $ to maintain it of course. But for a weekend car (so you can preserve it longer), it's def worth doing.
JDM cars have the better 2.0 motors. A different animal to the uk/us 2.5s. Forged pistons, better heads, twinscrolls, 8k rpm redline etc... the 2.5 is a POS made to meet emissions rules. Apparently in the US there is a lawsuit against subaru, apparently they simply threw ej25 blocks from the forester into the STI, hence why everyones engines blow 🤷♂️
They also have equal length headers hence the lack of the usual burble that you get with the uk Impreza’s. UK cars are fitted with unequal length headers for both the ej20 & ej25.

They all came with a 6speed, hell all GDB's did, even if non-spec C.

First subaru sti i ever experienced was a spec c type ra and i can tell you it just f****d off twin scroll jdm, lightweight use power anywhere
