I miss this bird.....when i saw this plane for the first time, i fell in love with it. I wanted to join the navy and fly this bird. The F-14 meant the whole world to me (to be honest, The F-14 means more to me than my gf lol)
I watched this video 12 years ago. Now im in second year university becoming an engineer at the best school in my country. I dont know who you are, but i appreciate this video still being here so i can remind myself what inspired me to get to where i am now.
@@xCASINOx wow didnt think this channel was active. Thank you and thanks for making this video! Hope i can come back here again in a few years with an even better story!
What is considered the best? By whom? Are these the people the peryevors of the best? Did the arbiters of the best also goto this school? If so then thats a conflict of interest, if not then whom are they basing their opinions on?
Thanks to all the squadrons of greatest interceptor in history. Although I will miss the F-14 Tomcat I Look forward to the future as well. Happy Hunting!
I got to work on one of the retired A model airframes for loading practice at me Aviation Ordnance School in 1988-89. Great memories!! When I was in The Final Countdown was about eight years old, Topgun was about two years old. Great airframe even if old in design and technology!
I was 10 years old when the 1st catastrophic hydraulic failure occurred. 7 years 5 months and 4 days later after the 1st flight of the Grumman F-14A Tomcat I'd be the deer caught in the headlights stepping out of a Sikorsky SH-3H Sea King operated by The HS-6 INDIANS onto the flightdeck of The USS CONSTELLATION CV-64 amid flight ops I had no idea that such aircraft as the TOMCAT existed...The Crew Chief of our flight grabs me by the elbow says " Pretty Awesome It Is go ahead catch up Shipmate you're going to see lots of this fun."
Thanks for the reply.I would like to concur with your side note as a combat F-14 tomcat mechanic. But truth be told VF-2 has that honor with the Langley stripe of the 1st and oldest U.S.NAVY fighter squadron.Detatched to the USS LANGLEY CV-1 during the 1920s.Thanks for your note Xman.
Truly the worlds greatest fighter, an absolutely stunning machine that sends chills up my spine everytime I see it. How sad that her gorgeous shape leave the skies!
Thanks to all the Tomcat squadrons for everything. The best in the world. Although I will miss the greatest interceptor in navy history I look forward to the future with your new machines of air superiority. Happy hunting!
i feel sorry for u man, u guys gave that bird a good time. despite our political differences, we can still appreciate a good plane. lets me know there are good people out there. :)
Its been fully decommissioned about 3 weeks ago and is no longer in service in the U.S. Navy. F14 is one of the greatest militant aircraft if history it will be missed.
@wiccanmoonman I don't agree the F-22 is a pile of shit, but the F-22 is not a carrier based naval plane. I wish they'd gone with the Super Tomcat over the Super Hornet...
@thefullmonte03 I meant to type 80, but your'e right without parts for maintainece they won't fly much, I just hate the idea of them having such a magnificent jet, I will sleep better ,thank you:}
This is my favorite F-14 tribute video, good job! Nice touch at the end.
Just found this video again after 16 years! Still adore it
the f-14 is still the coolest jet ever.
Thank you for the share❤

My dad served in VX-9 Detachment Pt. Mugu which had the most famous Tomcat of all... Vandy 1. The fleet's ONLY black fighter. :D
Amazing tribute and amazing music with awesome footage!
@GuildusBrightblade i think they did a mistake in retiring them. The plane is still useful even though it is expensive to maintain.

If it was so good how come they retired it? I hope you come up with a good explanation although I do expect to read some really weird answers.
It's one very expensive plane Just for initial cost.. not counting maintenance cost.
