At 4:15 that's Vieques PR. Only 7 by 21 miles with 10,000 people living on the island. At that time, it was CAMP GARCIA, USMC. Ensenada Honda Bay( below formation) , Matias, Jaloba( right) and La Chiva( left), tactical name Blue Beach. The MARINES used it for landing beach assault. I live in this Island used by the NAVY as a bombing range for 60 years until 2003. . The OP. I grew up watching all kind of NAVY jets. Saw the NIMITZ when came to practice on the Island. That time were F-4s. Loved "The Final Countdown". That was the real Jolly Rogers Movie. As a teen we all dreams to be a fighter pilots. Well, I ended un as an ARMY Aviator.
Nice job! I was in VF-84 from 76' thru Oct 80'. I was there for the arrival of the very first Tomcat. Phantoms were already gone, so I had to spend some time in VF-101 until we received our birds. Again.........nice tribute! AMH-2 R.S.S.
YEAHH! I love Jolly Rogers!! Seen them live here in Croatia, when they were a part of a joint military exercise called "JOINT WINGS", at Pula, Croatia in 2002.
The Jolly Rogers Will Never die when the fighting 84 th was disestablished in 95 they simply sneak up and took over fighing 103 .What do pirates do when their ship is sunk? They take over another. And that's what the 'Jolly Rogers' did
Even though I was a Be-Deviler arr and troubleshooter, I give props to the Jolly Rogers on one fine paint scheme. Nice video, keep up the good work. Tomcats forever! There are only 2 types of aircraft, fighters and targets!!!
You are correct! It is neither the name nor the emblem that makes the squadron, but, the brave souls that serve in it. VF-103 has a long and proud history. I posted a video (formerly 8mm film) that I made of VF-103 on the USS Saratoga back in 1976. It is titled "VF-103 Sluggers".
No body else gets the job done except for the two seaters. 14's can't keep up with the 18F's not to mention the Jolly Rogers are world famous twice in a row coast to coast.
i don't mind the Tomcat retiring, after all 35 years it deserves a rest, but to be replaced, by an inferior design i do mind. What should be rolling off the production line is the SuperTomcat 21.
VF17, the original, where the best squadron of the pacific. and one bunch of extremly gifted lunatics. they made the corsair carrier worthy....and a "Big Pig" famous. long live JR!
The super hornet is picking up the standard the 14 drivers had lifted. The little 18 was lacking in Straight up Power and the motor heads gave it to em ... The Sci fi geeks started playing around with that A-ESA magic mumbo they beat the crap otta Harry Potter for , tweeked it , with some of the Ladies of quality with those Alien Keyboard fingers coding , They were putting in "da formula" da baby super birdie 18 is ready. Is it the best ? IDK. But from what Ive seen , "do you feel lucky , Punk ?"
Great video! I rember the first time I saw a F-14 with that skull and crossbones. Too bad they went away from the white paint with the full color vertical stabs....
In that, you have succeeded... far better video than I could've made! (if I could find a way to steam all of the little video segments of F-14s I've filmed together, I could make one though...)
No I was just doing an amature video tribute to my old squadron. I tried to keep other visible squadron logos to a minimum. Just doing a little fun. What the Hell!
This is a tribute to Fighter Squadron 61 (VF-61) too... "Remember me to the Jolly Rogers"...The last words said by Ensign Jack Ernie before he crashed into the jungle...
Chadric Draca Not quite. All photos with dark gray tails are 103, the ones with no yellow are 103, the one with the phoenix on the tail is 103, I can identify nearly all the photos of 103 in this video. VF-103 TARPS technician 97'-02'. The video of the Tomcat streaking past at water level is from 103's 2000 deployment.
I am a proud ex-jollyroger of VF-84!! Job well done. At minute 4:52 of this video is a picture of one of our pilots doing the LSO. What was his name? LT?? Thanks. Mac Mclain
I hope they aren't trying to pass off ALL of those pictures as Jolly Rogers tomcats, because they aren't. I'd say at least 2/3s of those pictures were robbed from Torsten Anft's Tomcat website (as can be evidenced by the logos in some pictures)... 'sok video I guess, but they could've done a LOT better.
F-14 Tomcats are true eagles of steel. F-16 and the other figthers seem not to have his same appeal. I don't simply get to think in jets without it comes me the mind F-14! As well as when I think about RAF, and I see Spitfires. I don't enter in the merit that they need to be substituted by newer and efficient models. I just see them as simple amateurs occupying an empty space.
I usually don’t like music over a fighter video but in this case it’s perfect
I was on the Nimitz 77-81 ABH2 FLY 1 PO...We had VF-84 and VF-41...loved the CATS
Wow, this video was made when the tomcat was still in service.
This is the most American thing that i ever saw☠️
Was with the Bones of 103 for their last 2 Tomcat deployments and their first F/A-18F deployment. Always love for the bones!!!!!
I love the VF-84
You guys must have priceless memories
Yes we do.
vf-84 and cvn 68 is all that matters
Jolly Rogers 🏴☠️ the ultimate navy legends 🇺🇸☠️🇺🇸☠️
fear the bones and the cat
VF- 84 forever and nice salute to all who can say they were a bone head.
Perfect music!
4 EVER VF 84
Always love their paint scheme, pure Navy.
mach 3 on those missles and the jet was bad ass. A 30 year-old design that can still hold it's own today.

hahaha that's crazy!!! water skiing with a tomcat lol
The Beast lives on.
During my 'navydaze' VF-84 was rid'n the TOMCAT and they truly were BADASS & BAD 2 THE BONE!!!
well since the Sluggers are the Jolly Rogers now, they both rock.
Nice job! I was in VF-84 from 76' thru Oct 80'.

Loved the CAG 8 shots of the fighting 84 on Nimitz. Yep, that was on my watch. Glad that Hornet outfit adopted the badest squadron colors out there

The F14 and F4U looks so much better than the Hornet in the colors.

ALL THE TIME BABY
Fear the bones!
I did with the windows moviemaker that came on the computer and a lot of trail and error. Go for it!
Love the big turkeys.
That was an AWSOME video! Still and always will be the sexiest jet ever. But showing the Hornet at the end kinda kills it. Just saying.
Hornets are gay!
As long as the jolly Rogers still fly off of flattops your uncle will live on
excellent....
Anybody recall CDR Ed "Hunyuck" Andrews Submit a Request chit to Fly an F-14 through Hangar bay doors 3 and 4?

The Hornet, ugly? Of course not. If it were farm farming equipment or a Cadillac sitting on its side with the fins and all. Lol
it my dream to fly with this squadron the "vf-84 jolly rogers" this squadron have very big story
The Jolly Rogers currently VFA-103 is a navy squadron. You would have to join the navy and not the air force.
i am truly an old jolly 1962-64 you need some photos of a real gunfighter the f-8
