- Another video about booting a computer off of an SD card. This is for sure the oldest one yet! But I cheated a bit this time. (See parts)
Also 1080p has returned, but only from 5:17 onwards. Prior is upscaled 720p. This literally works as easily as plugging it in and selecting an image. The Floppy Emu is connected to the Mac's rear external floppy connector port.

technically speaking you CAN run XP on 2 MB of ram but it's extremely slow...there are videos on RUclips proving that :D - if you define running as booting in half an hour and launching paint in another half an hour :D

it is so cool that it even work's. the older stuff works lot longer than the new stuff some times i still have a old IBM computer running windows NT and every thing still works.
The only problem with this is that you don't get the great 400K / 800K Macintosh diskette drive sounds.

I like how MacPaint has more options than MS Paint had before they updated it in Windows 7. And how MS Paint looked damn near identical to it even down to the icons and placement of UI elements.
If you want to see MacTerminal run, I just posted a couple of quickie videos running it from my Floppy Emu on my Macintosh SE dialing some BBSes! Next time is to get some more robust terminal software.

Have you tried making physical backup floppies from the EMU device? If so what are the steps in doing that. The Pre hard drive era makes things a little less straight forward.
How to use this Floppy EMU to copy files of interest from the HD of Mac SE (that works well up to present day) to a new machine (e.g. Mac desktop/Mac laptop)? I have a wealth of old Word and Excel files that are stored since years on the HD of my old Mac SE (they are in good condition) and I need to transfer these files to a newer Mac (as a preliminary basic step before finally transferring them to a recent Windows laptop). The local Apple Macintosh vendor shops refused to do do that job for me. Thank you for reporting the required steps in some details (if possible without referring me to the EMU Instruction Manual that stays somewhat obscure for me). I understand that I must first insert the SD into the EMU, second I plug the EMU into the rear 19 pin slot of the Mac SE, third I'll start the Mac SE. At this point, the Mac will turn on, and the EMU will work. What to do next in order to copy the files of interest from the HD of the Mac SE to the SD on the EMU? Is this to be done simply by dragging the files of interest to the SD of the EMU using the Mac SE Finder, or I've do something else? My son has bought the EMU complete (including the Floppy Emu Model B, the Frosted Ice Acrylic Case "assembled", the Vintage Apple Software Collection SD Card, the Full-Size SD Adapter, and the Disk Extension Cable) and send that whole nice package (ready to be used) to me. However, I didn't use that package yet.

Does this Floppy Disk Emulator come with the disk images or do you have to download them manually?

You can't use a regular PC floppy usb Emulator? I know you can adapt the firmware to work with Amiga and Atari drives. It's just that they are really cheap. Under $20 on ebay.
This Mac came out in 1986. This has no USB ports.
No, there is USB adapter that plugs into and replaces the PC's floppy drive. It works on the PC, but also on other computers, like the Amiga, with a firmware hack.

How about pressing the "Reset" button on the top of the device? Maybe then you wouldn't have to turn the Mac on and off? Maybe I'm wrong, but it's worth trying :))
