    Good stuff! I use Marukan rice vinegar, Kikoman soy sauce, garlic and ginger paste, dark brown sugar, and a little bit of honey or real Canadian maple syrup and a little bit of corn starch to thicken it

    Thank you for sharing this with us! I've used this recipe so many times and come back to watch the video 😆 (you'd think I'd memorize it by now) I do some minor tweaks (less sugar & ginger sometimes more water) either way it comes out tasting amazing and I know my hubby enjoys too. I use this recipe for teriyaki chicken instead of eating out for it.

      Thank you so much for watching. That's the best thing about cooking you can adapt any recipe to suit your taste. So feel free to change my recipes to your liking. I'm all about making everything at home. I find that it tastes better cost half the price and most of the time better for you.

      I like to keep my recipes straight to the point. No one wants a 20 minute long video for something that only takes a few minutes. Haha my back story is an interesting one but people are not here for that. Riblets do some good. I bet this sauce would go great on them. Thank you for watching if you have an recipes you would like to see let me know.

    To make the glaze, do you add all of the slurry? Or just add enough until you reach a desired thickness? Thanks

    • @HomeHeadChef
      @HomeHeadChef  4 года назад +1

      Great question. Add as much as you like till you get your desired thickness. Just remember it will thicken more as it cools down

      great question. I use the water to cut the soy salt because if you don't I find it to be way to salty.

    Can you substitute the cornstarch with all purpose flour?

    • @HomeHeadChef
      @HomeHeadChef  4 года назад

      I have not try that. I think it won't be the same most Asian recipes use cornstarch to thicken it does not leave a flavor behind and you dont have to cook the raw flavor of flour out

    Some chefs add mirin and sake,are they really essential ingredients ? I mean what's the "trick" about mirin and sake ?You made it without them and it stil looks good.

    • @HomeHeadChef
      @HomeHeadChef  3 года назад +1

      Fantastic question. Adding mirin or sake is just like adding wines to none asian dishes. It gives it a new depth of taste by adding them. But there not 100% necessary. If you have them by all means add some. But for the average person they dont have them in there kitchen.

      @@susancaldwell5449: since the cook is not answering - I’m thinking of replacing the water with mirin because not all teriyaki sauce recipes add water, but most use mirin. So I’m going to try.....🙏🏻

    Hi! Can i use ginger powder??

    • @HomeHeadChef
      @HomeHeadChef  4 года назад

      you sure can. but the taste is going to be a little different due to the powder to fresh. and i dont know the amount of the powder. so i would start off small and taste it till you get the taste your looking for.
