I love Ace more than anything but that many Ace songs simply wouldn't have happened. Charisma as second song and Shandi would both have been on it. Egos would not have allowed Ace more songs than the others. Plus his voice probably wouldn't have held up for that many songs. Plus he would have definitely played New York Groove.
Yup do it, KISS Alive 4 in the non-makeup years. Perhaps around the time of Eric Carr's death as a tribute to what he added to the band. After the HITS tour, but before the Revenge tour.
My proposed 'KISS Alive III" in 1982 on the heels of their next successive 3 albums would have looked something like this: Side 1: 1. (Intro) Radioactive 2. The Oath 3. New York Groove 4. Magic Touch 5. A World Without Heroes Side 2: 1. Tomorrow (Small Drum Solo in song by Eric Carr introduced) 2. Mr. Blackwell/Bass Solo 3, Move On 4, Naked City 5, Save Your Love Side 3: 1. Larger Than Life 2, Charisma 3, Hard Times/Guitar Solo Ace 4, I 5, (Paul Little Guitar Diddy intro) I Was Made For Loving You Side 4: (Studio Side) 1. Nowhere To Run 2, Down On Your Knees 3, I'm A Legend Tonight 4, Partners In Crime 5. Heaven (Instrumental)
Escape from the island is the perfect opener. Gives them more time to have special effects while they enter the stage. On my setlist Tomorrow is a must and I would like to have one song of every solo album. All in all a fun topic.
Couldn't wait for this show! Love this idea! my track list would be all live... can't wait for Alive 4!!!! Side 1 1. The Oath 2. Radioactive 3. All American Man 4. Sure Know Something 5. New York Groove Side 2 1. A World Without Heroes 2. Wouldn't You Like To Know Me 3. Talk To Me 4. Magic Touch 5. (Gene solo) Mr. Blackwell Side 3 1. 2,000 Man (Ace guitar solo) 2. Escape From The Island (Eric Carr drum Solo) 3. Dark Light 4.. Shandi (Paul alone) 5. Tomorrow Side 4. 1. Larger Than Life 2. What Makes The World Go Round 3. I 4. I Was Made For Loving You 5. Rocket Ride
What you guys are doing pleases the heart of an old KISS fan, awesome! ^^ My favorite time period by the band btw. 'cause that's where i came in and this love lasts 'til this day. This one is pretty much a childhood dream of mine. KISS - ALIVE III Side A 01. The Oath 02. Charisma 03. Rip It Out 04. Nowhere To Run 05. Hard Times Side B 01. Sure Know Something 02. Shandi 03. Under The Rose (w/t Gene Simmons Bass Solo) 04. Save Your Love (w/t Eric Carr Drum Solo) 05. What Makes The World Go 'Round (w/t Paul Stanley Crowd Interaction) Side C 01. Is That You? 02. X-Ray Eyes 03. Talk To Me (w/t Ace Frehley Guitar Solo) 04. Easy As It Seems 05. Magic Touch Side D 01. Tonight You Belong to Me 02. Naked City 03. 2.000 Man 04. I Was Made For Lovin' You 05. I (w/t Paul Stanley Crowd Interaction)
Wow....this listing is PERFECT.... except the Paul Stanley crowd interaction 🙉🙉🙉🙉🙉🙉 actually that would be TWO times I could go grab a fresh beer👍 Very very good set list.....
As for a KISS ALIVE 4, I think the best time for that would have been during the extra long wait between "Asylum" and "Crazy Nights" when KISS were waiting for Ron Nevison to become available. So you have 4 albums to pull material from for Paul and "Creatures" and "Lick It Up" for Gene, as his material was shit for the most part 84-86.
I have always wished that Kiss would have kept the same schedule for live albums , always only containing live performances from the previous 3 studio albums. I still wish that they would do something like that. With the tape library they supposedly have, they could probably do it.
I think a good single for this Alive III would be New York Groove. It was already a mini hit itself and performed live. And maybe it keeps Ace happy and on board a bit longer. Let's be realistic. If this was done at the time, nothing from the Elder is getting on there. It is Dynasty, Unmasked, songs from the solos, and a handful of oldies peppered in.
New York Groove and Shandi would absolutely be included if they actually released a third Alive album at this time. As the 80's went on they were asked continually about when a third live album would be made but they would always say that they had released the Animalize live vhs tape and did not feel that a third live album was necessary at the that time. Personally I would have loved a third or fourth live album based on these era's. Excellent job guys! Thank You!
Part of the fun is to be as realistic as possible, so: 1) No solo songs here. 2) I've tried to divide the tracks equally between Gene, Paul and Ace. 3) Five tracks per side. Side 1: The Oath, Hard Times, Naked City, Escape from the Island, Tomorrow (2 paul, 1 ace and 1 gene) Side 2: Is that You?, I was made for..., Dark Light, X Ray Eyes, Talk To Me (2 paul, 2 ace, 1 gene) Side 3: I, Only You, Save your Love, Sure Know Something, Rocket Ride (1 gene, 2 paul, 2 ace) Side 4: The studio side would have the 4 new tracks frnm Killers.
Totally agree with your aim to be realistic: Ace would never sing 3 songs in a row, and I don't see them revisiting anything from the solo albums, etc. And for the 4th side, I thought the same: the Killers tracks. Spot on!
There was never really a "fair" division of tracks between P,G & A (or Peter) and if you are being as realistic as possible, where are Shandi, You're All That I Want & 2000 Man? They as least were played live, unlike most of your other selections. And likewise, why not have the solo album tracks when you have Rocket Ride from Alive 2 on there? New York Groove was played on the '79 & '80 tours, Move On on the '79 tour and Radioactive & Tossin' & Turnin' for a couple of shows in '79 so they at least are realistic options for a live album.
@@ajo3085 C'mon, dude! Don't be that guy, relax. I'm just trying to have fun with Marco and Martin's idea - try to have fun with it too, you may like it. Remember, we are putting together an album that never existed or could be. But I'll give some answer to your points: by early 82, Kiss was far distant from the 79 Dynasty tour - so the solo stuff and the tracks played live either in 79/80 would be irrelevant for this exercise, because they had a different drummer for a couple years (which had no solo album) and "Alive 3" would be recorded on The Elder tour, early 82. About the equal division, by 82, they had released 3 new studio albums since Love Gun and 2 of them had as much songs by Ace as Gene (Dynasty even had more Ace, The Elder was the exception) and Ace's new material was better suited for a live recording than Gene's. Why not 2000 man? Because Ace had better material than a cover. Why Rocket Ride? Because they needed a rocking song like that (thou played mostly by Ace in studio, it is still a Kiss song). But again, none of The Elder was played live, there was never a tour from it, so why are you being so meticolous about my comment. I think some people like it. If you look around, it is the one with highest number of thumbs up. But, dude, remember , it's all just a fantasy, an exercise... Jeez.
Side 1: Oath All American Man Larger Than Life Escape From the Island Darklight Side 2: Radioactive It’s Alright New York Groove Dirty Livin (Eric vocals & drum solo) Rocket Ride (Ace solo) Side 3: World Without Heroes Shandi I Was Made For Lovin You I Goodbye Side 4: Nowhere To Run Partners In Crime Mongaloid Man (Joe Perry guitar)
I bent the rules some. I included the 4 studio tracks from Alive II, the solo albums, Dynasty and Unmasked. Then I threw in some old stuff that wasn't on Alive or Alive II. Is That You Sure Know Something Tonight You Belong to Me Move On Rocket Ride Strange Ways Shandi X-ray Eyes Radiactive All American Man Flaming Youth Naked City Dirty Livin Save Your Love Rip it Out Larger Than Life Almost Human Talk to Me I Was Made for Lovin' You It's Alright New York Groove Rockin in the USA Take Me
'Dirty Livin' is a nice addition to your list. Great song yet never played live. There was potential for Eric Carr to re-do this tune 'live'. It never happened, so it remains a lost gem from a bygone era in Kisstory.
1. The Oath Charisma 2000 Man Mr. Blackwell Move On 2. Radioactive Hard Times Shandi Dark Light (w/guitar solo) I 3. Is That You? New York Groove Rockin' In The USA Rocket Ride I Was Made For Lovin' You 4. Down On Your Knees Heaven Nowhere To Run Partners In Crime I'm A Legend Tonight
After careful consideration, and only using the studio cuts from Alive II, Dynasty, Unmasked and The Elder, this is my version of Alive III: “You wanted the best, and you got it! The hottest band in the world- KISS!” side 1: I Was Made For Lovin’ You Is That You? Save Your Love Dirty Livin’/Escape From The Island I side 2: Sure Know Something/Magic Touch Easy As It Seems Talk To Me/ Torpedo Girl What Makes The World Go ‘Round side 3: Charisma Larger Than Life Tomorrow Shandi Naked City side 4: Mr. Blackwell Dark Light/Rocket Ride All American Man Rockin’ In The USA (Where there is a ‘/‘ indicates where I felt songs could be melded together a’la Hotter Than Hell and Firehouse.)
@@MartinPopoff thanks Martin. I kinda’ felt that I Was Made For Lovin’ You made a better opener than a closer, as it set the tone of the era covered. And Rockin’ In The USA is as close to Rock And Roll All Night or Shout It Out Loud in terms of an anthemic show closer. Also, I wanted to generate a set list that included only “KISS” songs. Now I’m working on the solo live set list, but using all the solo albums from each member so there is a more balanced input, especially from Gene and Peter.
Keeping it to songs that were actually played live and two Alive II style soundchecks for Charisma (which they lip-synched in Mexico 1981) and Dark Light (Ace's Elder song). The Killers studio tracks make up Side 4 and I used the three solo album songs that were played live on the Dynasty Tour. The Oath Radioactive Move On Talk to Me A World Without Heroes Is That You? Shandi Dark Light (Soundcheck/studio, same as "Tomorrow and Tonight on Alive II) 2,000 Man (w/Ace Frehley Guitar Solo) Charisma (Soundcheck - w/Gene Blood Solo and Eric Carr Drum Solo) You're All That I Want I (Set closer - w/Paul Stanley Rap) New York Groove (Encore) I Was Made for Lovin' You (Encore) I'm a Legend Tonight (New Studio Track) Down on Your Knees (New Studio Track) Nowhere to Run (New Studio Track) Partners in Crime (New Studio Track)
I think Escape From The Island would be a good time to add in an Eric solo. I love Charisma but it'd be weird for Gene to launch his solo/blood during it. Pretty light-hearted. Although I don't have a good replacement unless they were to do a portion of Under the Rose then blood.
While "what ifs" are fun topics, the reality is that the non-Alive! & Alive 2 LIVE songs from this era were very limited. New York Groove, Move On, I Was Made For Loving You, 2000 Man, Is That You, Shandi, Talk To Me and a few performances of You're All That I Want, Radioactive & Tossin' and Turnin' plus I, Just A Boy & The Oath if you count the Fridays appearance. The problem with Kiss shows has always been that so many of the fan favourites have been overlooked and Paul showed us on his solo tour how great Magic Touch was live. There's a number of songs from that '79 & '80 period I'd have like to hear live but I can understand them running from The Elder as fast as they could given the disastrous reception it got. It's good that we've got the 3 Fridays songs and some later versions from Unplugged and Kruise shows, but for the most part, it wasn't going to be an album that could be played live in the normal Kiss sense. One or two of the songs might have been interesting on the Symphony setlist, but as far as the '82 tour goes, I'd have rather heard the Killers songs played than anything from the Elder.
I really wish that Kiss did Alive 3 after The Elder album. I would definitely buy your version of Alive 3. This is what my dream set list would have been if I was in charge. It would be all live songs. 1. The Oath 2. Naked City 3. Hard Times 4. Sure Know Something 5. Dark Light 6. World Without Heroes 7. Talk To Me 8. I 9. Is That You? 10. Tomorrow 11. Shandi 12. Easy As It Seams 13. Save Your Love 14. Magic Touch 15. I Was Made For Loving You 16. Tonight You Belong To Me 17. See You Tonight 18. Rip It Out 19. Larger Than Life 20. Rocket Ride
Since this is a live album, I have to go with songs that were actually performed live. Side One (Solo Albums): Radioactive/Move On/Tossin' and Turnin'/New York Groove and Love Em and Leave Em (studio to make it sound live). Side Two (Dynasty/Love Gun Leftovers): I Was Made for Lovin' You/2,000 Man (with Ace Solo)/ Take Me/Hooligan. Side Three (Unmasked): Is That You? /Talk to Me/Shandi/You're All That I Want/ God of Thunder (Eric Drum Solo). Side Four (Elder): The Oath/A World Without Heroes/ I/Black Diamond (with Paul Solo and Eric vocals) Single: 2,000 Man/Eric Drum solo
That would be a dream come true if they did that in back in day . This is my favorite period of kiss 🤩 I would keep the list to only feature songs for the 3 studio Albums in question. and add solo album tracks on side 4 . And where is kiss best song of all time naked city ? 😁
I'd buy it - not sure that Paul & Gene would allow as many Ace songs though, may have to replace one or two with something like Shandi - filling the space that Beth did on Alive 2? and then maybe add in Mr Blackwell for Gene; but opening wot The Oath - absolutely, just has to, and why not all 4 Killers new songs for side 4?
good picks, yeah we were a little ace heavy, Gene would deifinilty have a few more, but i do see Kiss moving towards an Ace/Paul heavy live show if Ace stuck around
Great list guys! Side A: The Oath Charisma Is That You? 2000 Man A World Without Heroes Side B: Goodbye Radioactive Dark Light Shandi Sure Know Something Side C: I Talk to Me Easy As It Seems Magic Touch I Was Made Foe Loving You Side D: Partners in Crime Nowhere to Run Creatures of The Night ( demo ) Saint & Sinner ( demo ) War Machine ( demo ) The last 3 songs were co-written by either Bryan Adams, Adam Mitchell or Mikel Japp, who had co-written songs for the Killers original songs in '81. They very well could have been working on the songs for Creatures by late '81 early '82. :)
They’re issuing a lot of old shows on vinyl and cd lately. If they do Australia 1980 I’ll shit my pants, just amazing energy with Eric and Ace in the mix
Great show guys and nice thinking outside of the square with your track listing here is mine The Oath Magic Touch Shandi Under the Rose Is that You Sure Know Something Talk to Me /drum solo Naked City Mr. Blackwell Blood spitting bass intro, fire breathing at the end A World Without Heroes She's So European Hard Times extended solo/ smoking guitar I Was Made for Loving You I Studio Side Nowhere to Run I'm A Legend To Night Down On Your Knees Partners in Crime Single A. The Oath live B. Nowhere To Run studio cut
I've been waiting for this bad-boy video for ages. The Holy Grail for many fans of the original-band. Alive 3 IMO should have been released in late '82 or early '83, after the COTN release but before Lick It Up. Recorded on a 'lost cities' tour in North America with Gene, Paul, Ace and Eric playing (although I'm not averse to Vinnie playing in makeup at the time). The COTN tour had a better setlist than the European and Australian Unmasked shows. That said, my dream wish list for an Alive 3 album songlist (which never came to be) is below. A combination of the 'proposed' staging for the Elder and a hybrid COTN military/tank style theme would have been cool. A 2-LP set, on coloured vinyl, gatefold packaging, updated KISS Dynasty to COTN tour guide and a poster. 1) The Oath 2) Creatures of the Night 3) Hard Times 4) She's So European 5) Rock and Roll Hell 6) Is That You 7) Rocket Ride (Ace solo) 8) Larger Than Life 9) War Machine (Gene solo) 10) It's Alright 10) What Makes the World Go Round 11) I Was Made for Lovin' You 12) I Love It Loud (Eric Carr solo) 13) Sure Know Something 14) Radioactive 15) New York Groove 16) Only You (Paul solo) 17) It's My Life 18) Rock and Roll Al Nite (because they have to)
I saw Kiss around this time play Wembley Arena, so I would have loved it if they’d done Alive 3. I suspect they’d have done more songs from Dynasty & Unmasked. I definitely think side 4 would have contained a cover, may be another obscure Stones song. I definitely want you to do an Alive 4, but who will be the guitarist?
Very interesting topic. I like the song list you both came up with. I agree that Shandi should probably be on it since it was huge in Australia, but what to take off?🤔 Do you think Gene and Paul would really agree with an Ace heavy live KISS album? lol
I think there is generally not enough Gene love for this period. X-Ray Eyes, Charisma, Naked City, and Only You are all great songs in my opinion. I am a fan of Dynasty, Unmasked, and the Elder, and it's safe to say I feel this whole era is under appreciated. But even amongst those who like this era I feel Gene's contributions are overlooked. This was a great time for Ace, and I have absolutely loved Torpedo Girl forever.
SIDE 1 - 1. The Oath 2. 2,000 Man 3. Is That You ? 4. Charisma 5. Tonight You Belong To Me SIDE 2 - 1. New York Groove 2. All American Man 3. Hard Times 4. Nowhere To Run 5. See You Tonight SIDE 3 - 1. Radioactive 2. Magic Touch 3. Speedin' Back To My Baby 4. Sure Know Something 5. Escape From The Island SIDE 4 - 1. Rocket Ride 2. Naked City 3. Rip It Out 4. She's So European 5. I Was Made For Lovin' You
The oath is a perfect opener. It had a NWOBHM feel and Martin said it as I was writing this comment. 😁 I wish theytouredfor The Elder the stage concept designs arekicking around online. (And in a Kisstory book maybe?)
Interesting selection. Here's mine: ALIVE III (Side 1) CREATURES OF THE NIGHT YOU'RE ALL THAT I WANT 2000 MAN SHANDI I LOVE IT LOUD (Side 2) IS THAT YOU? RADIOACTIVE MOVE ON A WORLD WITHOUT HEROES TALK TO ME (Side 3) THE OATH WAR MACHINE NEW YORK GROOVE I WAS MADE FOR LOVING YOU I (Side 4) I'M A LEGEND TONIGHT DOWN ON YOUR KNEES IT'S MY LIFE NOWHERE TO RUN PARTNERS IN CRIME I made my own mock Alive III compilation many years ago using existing live bootlegs, based on the hypothetical idea it was released in '83 as a watershed for the make-up era, before the next phase. I know there's a 3-album cycle between Alive! & Alive II, but because KISS didn't tour for 'Music From The Elder' I went an album further by incorporating tracks from 'Creatures Of The Night', also because it was the last make-up album, as well as 1 song each from Gene, Paul & Ace to represent the solo albums which came out after Alive II, to help pad out for the lack of 'Dynasty' songs never performed live. As as result, Peter Criss appeared on live songs from Largo '79, & Vinnie Vincent appeared on live tracks from Rio De Janeiro '83. Songs from Sydney/Prague for Unmasked '80 tour, & the Fridays '82 live TV performance for 'The Elder' made up the rest of the live sides 1-3. The 'Killers' tracks, which weren't released in the US, made up for side 4 of all-new studio material, with Gene's original '82 'It's My Life' demo added to bring the tracklist up to the same number as Alive II, by following it's format with no overlapping songs. This allowed for a hypothetical Alive IV to be based on the next 3 albums 'Lick It Up'-'Animalize'-'Asylum', and even an Alive V with songs from the next subset of 3 records 'Crazy Nights'-'Hot In The Shade-'Revenge' etc. with no overlapping songs, in place of the realized Alive III that came out in '93. There were plans from KISS management to release an Alive III in '85, using the same '84 Cobo Hall concert from 'Animalize Live Uncensored' before it was decided to focus exclusively on the VHS home video market instead.
Love this topic ! I made a playlist in my iTunes of the songs you chose. Yes please do Alive 4 for the next 3 albums . Thank you Martin and Marco . Chez
Keeping in mind these are your fantasy picks, Kiss would never have had 3 songs sung by Ace and none by Gene on side 1 of a live album. Love Ace, but too many of his songs and not enough Gene for my taste! No Shandi, Charisma, 2000 Man or Mr. Blackwell? Deadly Weapons is a great song on the recent COTN re-release. Cool idea for a video.
This was so great! I totally dig the other guys, but you two work so well together! Definitely do an Alive 4! As for the picks I would have bought this album! I personally don’t understand why kiss didn’t release alive 3 around 1980! Look at the history of the band kiss Alive saved them, Alive 2 got them even more famous, Someone dropped the ball on not bringing out kiss Alive 3 at this time! Kiss in 1980 was the biggest it had ever been except for the United States! Recording the album on the tour of Australia and releasing it while the hype was still on would have been huge for the band! Plus if it had gone gold or platinum would they have toured the states in 81 and not made the elder🤷🏻♂️! Can’t wait to see the kiss alive 4 episode!
Okay, so I tried to do this as logically as possible for a KISS ALIVE 4 since the authors proposed it. Anyway, I used songs that were performed live, songs released as singles, songs that would make sense to be played live. KISS ALIVE 4 SIDE A 1. King of The Mountain 2. Under The Gun 3. Fit's Like A Glove 4. Uh All Night! 5. Killer SIDE B 1. War Machine 2. Rock and Roll Hell 3. Exciter 4. I've Had Enough (Into The Fire) 5. Not For The Innocent SIDE C 1. Thrills In The Night 2. I Still Love You 3. Young and Wasted (Eric) 4. Burn Bitch Burn (The lyrics are what they are, but it's a killer track musically and the chorus would have been huge live LOL!!!) 5. Who Want's To Be Lonely SIDE D 1. Lick It Up 2. Creatures Of The Night 3. I Love It Loud 4. Tears Are Falling 5. Heaven's On Fire
Guys! Lest be Frank here, in regards to making the comment Ace was gaining traction with having better songs or not talent, they put more Ace songs on Dynasty, Unmasked,& Elder because they wanted him to stay in the band. The songs you listed besides “Hard Times” actually they were all weak songs from a songwriters point of you. Alive 3 Side 1) It’s Alright (Paul Solo) Tomorrow Shandi Charisma New York Groove Side 2) The Oath Is that You I Was Made for Lovin You She’s so European See You Tonight (Gene Solo) Side 3) Dirty Livin I Was Made for Lovin You Sure no Something Your all that I Want Hold Me Touch Me Paul Solo Studio side 4 I’m a Legend Tonight I Dark Light Nowhere to Run Partners in Crime
I think in all honesty, 2000 Man would have to be on it as it was performed live numerous times. Peter would have to have one song, Dirty Livin' comes to mind, Naked City, and X-Ray Eyes would fit also. I can't see a scenario where Ace would ever sing three songs in a row.
If this had happened it`s possible that Killers would never have been released? They would have come out at the same time. The studio side on Alive III could possibly have ended up being the new songs from Killers?
Kiss Alive III Right After The Elder .. ( WHAT IF !! ) --------- Side 1. 1. Fanfare 2. The Oath 3. 2000 Man 4. Naked City 5. Talk To Me 6. Charisma Side 2 7. Is That You ? 8. Dark Light Aces Solo 9. Only You 10. Just A Boy Side 3 11. I Was Made For Lovin You 12. Shandi 13. New York Groove 14. A World Without Heroes Gene Solo 15. Mr. Blackwell Side 4 16. I 17. Partners In Crime 18. Nowhere To Run 19. Down On Your Knees 20. I’m A Legend Tonight
If KISS were to release ALIVE III after The Elder, I think this would have been much more realistic: 1. The Oath 2. Radioactive 3. Move On 4. Is That You? 5. Talk To Me 6. Charisma 7. A World Without Heroes 8. I Was Made For Lovin’ You 9. New York Groove 10. She’s So European 11. Magic Touch 12. You’re All That I Want 13. Sure Know Something 14. 2000 Man 15. Shandi 16. I
I appreciate the effort and made a playlist in my iTunes with this setlist, BUT no way is a "KISS ALIVE III" with Gene on a grand total of 2 live and 1 studio tracks based in any kind of reality. He and Paul would certainly want to placate Ace, but not with 6 live and 2 studio tracks. Also, nix the studio tracks. In all honesty, KISS could have easily released 4 live sides with ALIVE 2. "Take Me", "Do You Love Me", "Love Em Leave Em", "Hooligan" would have been simple tracks to include.
yep good points i dont disagree with you at all, we gave ace a little too much in reality it probably would have been more even than ace/paul heavy, it seemed like with dynasty and unmasked as well as their live setlists gene didnt seem to mind stepping back a bit- but your right, he wouldnt have stepped back that much, now if ace was in the band in the mid 80s when paul was carrying the ship while gene was making movies, then you may have seen albums that were ace and paul heavy with only like 2 gene tunes, but thats a totally different scenario
Yes - if they had kept Alive II to live tracks (Suggest Take Me and Do You Love Me which were played in Japan and were to feature on the original version of Alive II / Hooligan, which, together with the aforementioned tracks, was listed on the Alive II misprint sleeve / See You In Your Dreams and (perhaps as a real purchase incentive at the time) a live version of Rocket Ride), this would have provided material for another studio album prior to the solos (completed with a few tracks from those solo albums?). I believe that this would have extended the life of the original band.....
Love the concept of it and wish it could have happened that way. But in reality the albums represented for that Alive III idea would not have been anything people wanted to celebrate live because KISS' image was wrecked by that point. The terrible movie (yes, we can like it today) and the complete reversal of image with the Vegas/superhero theme (aligned with pop music) completely alienated fans. Having so much Ace songs in that package kind of speaks to the problem they had on those albums. Yes his solo material was great, but his contributions on Dynasty and Unmasked were not premium tracks for their day. In an alternate universe, it would have been fun though to see that happen.
Hello everybody i' have only One thing to Say and ask... Does anybody really think that After 2 sides of a concert live Gene don't have sing any Song?? C'mon.. it's impossibile. 3 songs of Ace in the begginning of a Kiss show ? This Is Just my opinion...Anyway KISS Rules!! Salute from Italy!!
These songs are all over the map I would of stuck with dynasty unmasked and the elder only there's no way kiss would of done that setlist especially all those ace songs.
I didnt hear "Sure Know Something" on your list. That reached #47 on billboard 100 and top 10 in Australia. No way Kiss excludes that from an Alive III with the parameters set here.
An Alive III like this would have fallen through the cracks. People weren’t buying tickets to see Kiss live, why would they bother and buy a live album from that era????
Some of the songs picked in the comments are beyond ridiculous. Let's try to be realistic. Add prior songs (74-78), solo material (again be realistic), and IWMFLY, 2000 Man, Shandi, Tomorrow, Talk 2 Me, The Oath, World Without Heroes, and I.
Is That You? (Unmasked) Only You (The Elder) Fractured Mirror (Ace Solo) Charisma (Dynasty) She's So European (Unmasked) Love in Chains (Paul Solo) Magic Touch (Dynasty) Sure Know Something (Dynasty) Tomorrow (Unmasked) Mr. Blackwell (The Elder) Snowblind (Ace Solo) Two Sides of the Coin (Unmasked) The Oath (The Elder) Naked City (Unmasked) Odyssey (The Elder) New York Groove (Ace Solo) I Was Made For Lovin' You (Dynasty) Easy As It Seems (Unmasked) A World Without Heroes (The Elder) Talk To Me (Unmasked) Tonight You Belong To Me (Paul Solo) Under the Rose (The Elder) Shandi (Unmasked) --------------------------------- 3 Ace Solo (1978) 2 Paul Solo (1978) 4 Dynasty (1979) 8 Unmasked (1980) 6 The Elder (1981) 23 Total Songs
Alive III should’ve been 1980, Australia show with songs from Unmasked, solo albums, and Dynasty. Only a single disk. The Elder was after Kiss mania and was too different.
Side 1 Is That You Hard Times Radioactive Save Your Love Tonight You Belong To Me Tomorrow Side 2 Rip it Out Nowhere To Run Naked City 2000 Man Sure Know Something Wouldn’t You Like To Know Me Side 3 The Oath Dark Light A World Without Heroes Only You Under The Rose I Side 4 Shandi Charisma Talk To Me Magic Touch New York Groove I Was Made For Lovin’ You No offence, but mine is better. All live, and 6 songs per side. 10 Paul, 5 Gene, 7 Ace, 2 Paul and Gene. Single would be Nowhere To Run (live)/Nowhere To Run (studio version). Basically equal parts solo, Dynasty, Unmasked, Elder, and one new track/single in Nowhere To Run, a song that had the potential to be a huge hit, hence the single having live and studio versions. By the way Kiss Alive! Is still only certified gold for shipments of 250k copies/500k units. Weird.
Three Ace songs in a row would never happen. His great songs on Dynasty had three songs spread out. Paul and Gene were the big guns (just sayin') and four songs in, they're barely represented.
I understand you wanted to push Ace songs but this would’ve never happen, maybe 5 Ace songs. But no Shandi, no She’s so European? Those songs were very catchy.
How do you 2 guys & a lot of your followers miss What should have been not only included on Alive 3 But the lead single Rockin in the U.S.A. This was a huge miss step for Kiss on Alive 2 !!!!!!! This song could have been 1 of their Hugest hits
@@LarryFleetwood8675 Much too soon is justly not released on any album. But it was a Love Gun demo. So even before the Alive II release. And the Beatles? They wish

Definitely do a kiss alive 4!🤪🤘🏼
I love Ace more than anything but that many Ace songs simply wouldn't have happened. Charisma as second song and Shandi would both have been on it. Egos would not have allowed Ace more songs than the others. Plus his voice probably wouldn't have held up for that many songs. Plus he would have definitely played New York Groove.
@@captainkirk70 agreed with Shandi, would love to see Sure Know Something also
There is no way they would have 3 straight Ace songs after the Oath. Doesn't make sense. He is not really a recognizable voice of KISS
Yup do it, KISS Alive 4 in the non-makeup years. Perhaps around the time of Eric Carr's death as a tribute to what he added to the band. After the HITS tour, but before the Revenge tour.
My proposed 'KISS Alive III" in 1982 on the heels of their next successive 3 albums would have looked something like this:
Side 1:
1. (Intro) Radioactive
2. The Oath
3. New York Groove
4. Magic Touch
5. A World Without Heroes
Side 2:
1. Tomorrow (Small Drum Solo in song by Eric Carr introduced)
2. Mr. Blackwell/Bass Solo
3, Move On
4, Naked City
5, Save Your Love
Side 3:
1. Larger Than Life
2, Charisma
3, Hard Times/Guitar Solo Ace
4, I
5, (Paul Little Guitar Diddy intro) I Was Made For Loving You
Side 4: (Studio Side)
1. Nowhere To Run
2, Down On Your Knees
3, I'm A Legend Tonight
4, Partners In Crime
Side 1
1. The Oath
2. Radioactive
3. All American Man
4. Sure Know Something
5. New York Groove
Side 2

2. Wouldn't You Like To Know Me
3. Talk To Me
4. Magic Touch
5. (Gene solo) Mr. Blackwell
Side 3
1. 2,000 Man (Ace guitar solo)
2. Escape From The Island (Eric Carr drum Solo)
3. Dark Light
4.. Shandi (Paul alone)
5. Tomorrow
Side 4.

2. What Makes The World Go Round
3. I
4. I Was Made For Loving You
5. Rocket Ride

Righteous songlist bro. Obviously you're a hardcore 'lifer' fan.
What you guys are doing pleases the heart of an old KISS fan, awesome! ^^ My favorite time period by the band btw. 'cause that's where i came in and this love lasts 'til this day. This one is pretty much a childhood dream of mine.

Yes! How could we have missed Ney Work Groove!? And the single was voted on by the patrons but good point!
@@thecontrarians2438 Thinking in those terms, 2000 Man would seem more fitting, no?
@@danielc1978 agreed!
Side 1: The Oath, Hard Times, Naked City, Escape from the Island, Tomorrow (2 paul, 1 ace and 1 gene)
Side 2: Is that You?, I was made for..., Dark Light, X Ray Eyes, Talk To Me (2 paul, 2 ace, 1 gene)
Side 3: I, Only You, Save your Love, Sure Know Something, Rocket Ride (1 gene, 2 paul, 2 ace)
Side 4: The studio side would have the 4 new tracks frnm Killers.
Jeez.

I like your addition of the 'Killers' new songs as a 'Side 4'. Very cool.
Pretty realistic. Even though Shandi is the only makeup era song I actually hate. Good time to hit the pisser or buy a shirt. Lol.

Paul and Gene would never allow 3 Ace songs in a row. Oh wait, 4?? I can only buy into this fantasy to a certain point😅

1) The Oath

I saw Kiss around this time play Wembley Arena, so I would have loved it if they’d done Alive 3. I suspect they’d have done more songs from Dynasty & Unmasked. I definitely think side 4 would have contained a cover, may be another obscure Stones song. I definitely want you to do an Alive 4, but who will be the guitarist?
Wow. Didn't know they played Wembley around this time. What was the attendance like?
@@captainkirk70 pretty much sold out.
When this popped up on my timeline, my first thought was that Alive III was supposed to come out on the back of Hotter Than Hell and got delayed
Very interesting topic. I like the song list you both came up with. I agree that Shandi should probably be on it since it was huge in Australia, but what to take off?🤔 Do you think Gene and Paul would really agree with an Ace heavy live KISS album? lol
Interesting idea to put the Alive 2 studio tracks as live tunes

I think there is generally not enough Gene love for this period. X-Ray Eyes, Charisma, Naked City, and Only You are all great songs in my opinion.
I am a fan of Dynasty, Unmasked, and the Elder, and it's safe to say I feel this whole era is under appreciated. But even amongst those who like this era
I feel Gene's contributions are overlooked. This was a great time for Ace, and I have absolutely loved Torpedo Girl forever.

I made my own mock Alive III compilation many years ago using existing live bootlegs, based on the hypothetical idea it was released in '83 as a watershed for the make-up era, before the next phase.
Chez
That cover design is on point! The design is so early 80s with out being cliche and cheesy
Thanks!!! That was one of the funnest parts about doing this episode lol, i have been meaning to print it off and create a "bootleg" cd of live stuff
Robert Gentile. Excellent idea!! Groove should replace talk to me? How cool would Torpedo Girl be live??

Answer to the Topic headline? It would have been fantastic!!!! No matter the set list
There is no way that all these Ace songs would have been featured.
Great stuff guys. I would buy this if it existed. I was always a huge fan of Ace and Eric Carr.
I think in all honesty, 2000 Man would have to be on it as it was performed live numerous times. Peter would have to have one song, Dirty Livin' comes to mind, Naked City, and X-Ray Eyes would fit also. I can't see a scenario where Ace would ever sing three songs in a row.
Wouldn't Peter have been out of the band at this point?
the guy to the lleft kinda sounds like Michael Douglas
If this had happened it`s possible that Killers would never have been released? They would have come out at the same time. The studio side on Alive III could possibly have ended up being the new songs from Killers?
I think it would have been a good move in our reality as the Alive brand was good for them.
i think you should have included some solo material, i know it doesn't meet the 3 album criteria
ya we kind of dipped into a few different pots
Side 1 track 1 should be “All American Man” Side 2 track 2 should be “Rocket Ride”
how about a live album that only contained songs from the solo albums
Cool ideal I enjoy Unmasked also.
Nothing should be repeated on alive 2 on alive 3.
I think 2,000 man would be a good choice to be included somewhere
I love all the Ace songs, but no way in Hell Paul and Gene give Ace that many songs, the control freaks would never let that happen.
Kiss Alive III
Right After The Elder ..
( WHAT IF !! )
---------
Side 1.
1. Fanfare

3. 2000 Man
4. Naked City
5. Talk To Me
6. Charisma
Side 2
7. Is That You ?
8. Dark Light
Aces Solo
9. Only You
10. Just A Boy
Side 3

20. I’m A Legend Tonight
Do a Kiss Alive 4 encompassing their whole discography to choose from
I can guarantee that Paul and Gene would not have so many Frehley songs in a row.
If KISS were to release ALIVE III after The Elder, I think this would have been much more realistic:
1. The Oath
2. Radioactive
3. Move On
4. Is That You?
5. Talk To Me
6. Charisma
7. A World Without Heroes
8. I Was Made For Lovin’ You
9. New York Groove
10. She’s So European
11. Magic Touch
12. You’re All That I Want
13. Sure Know Something
14. 2000 Man
15. Shandi
16. I
Waow!I 'd definitely get that record!
Good fun this one!
Wish you guys would of shown a gatefold
would have been a good idea for sure
Were the guitar and drum solos omitted?
How come New York Groove wasn’t included?
These songs are all over the map I would of stuck with dynasty unmasked and the elder only there's no way kiss would of done that setlist especially all those ace songs.
I didnt hear "Sure Know Something" on your list. That reached #47 on billboard 100 and top 10 in Australia. No way Kiss excludes that from an Alive III with the parameters set here.
I think it would have been recorded at the local state fair.
Ha!
Hot In The Shade Tour should of been Alive III.
Yes KISS Alive 4 !!!!
An Alive III like this would have fallen through the cracks. People weren’t buying tickets to see Kiss live, why would they bother and buy a live album from that era????
Because in an alternate reality, we'd change ALL rules, events and happenings.
(Unmasked)
Only You (The Elder)
Fractured Mirror (Ace Solo)
Charisma (Dynasty)
She's So European (Unmasked)
Love in Chains (Paul Solo)
Magic Touch (Dynasty)
Sure Know Something (Dynasty)
Tomorrow (Unmasked)
Mr. Blackwell (The Elder)
Snowblind (Ace Solo)
Two Sides of the Coin (Unmasked)
The Oath (The Elder)
Naked City (Unmasked)
Odyssey (The Elder)
New York Groove (Ace Solo)
I Was Made For Lovin' You (Dynasty)
Easy As It Seems (Unmasked)
A World Without Heroes (The Elder)
Talk To Me (Unmasked)
Tonight You Belong To Me (Paul Solo)
Under the Rose (The Elder)
Shandi (Unmasked)
---------------------------------
3 Ace Solo (1978)
2 Paul Solo (1978)
4 Dynasty (1979)
8 Unmasked (1980)
6 The Elder (1981)
23 Total Songs
Alive III should’ve been 1980, Australia show with songs from Unmasked, solo albums, and Dynasty. Only a single disk. The Elder was after Kiss mania and was too different.
Side 1
Is That You
Hard Times
Radioactive
Save Your Love
Tonight You Belong To Me
Tomorrow
Side 2
Rip it Out
Nowhere To Run
Naked City
2000 Man
Sure Know Something
Wouldn’t You Like To Know Me
Side 3
The Oath
Dark Light
A World Without Heroes
Only You
Under The Rose
I
Side 4
Shandi
Charisma
Talk To Me
Magic Touch
New York Groove
I Was Made For Lovin’ You
No offence, but mine is better.
Shandi......no comment.
Gosh... Such an idea would have gone over like a LED zeppelin. This was the dark era of kiss in which they were culturally irrelevant.
She's so European was a single that they would of done live
I understand you wanted to push Ace songs but this would’ve never happen, maybe 5 Ace songs. But no Shandi, no She’s so European? Those songs were very catchy.
How do you 2 guys & a lot of your followers miss What should have been not only included on Alive 3 But the lead single Rockin in the U.S.A. This was a huge miss step for Kiss on Alive 2 !!!!!!! This song could have been 1 of their Hugest hits
Some stuff just goes right over our head! good pick!
So basically, Alive III would have been a really crap album based on those song choices hahahaha
No Sure Know Something? boooo
Nice idea, but weak choices. Dont like it at all. Side 1 and 4 are very pointless
"Much Too Soon" is like Kiss doing a cross between Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Beatles.
@@LarryFleetwood8675 Much too soon is justly not released on any album. But it was a Love Gun demo. So even before the Alive II release. And the Beatles? They wish
