"That looks like the serum from Hulk" was a good observation. Bruce Banner's project was one of many attempts to recreate Captain America's super soldier program.
the man who says “I thought he’d be taller” at 29:27 is Stan Lee. He’s in every single Marvel film up until he passed away. He is the brilliant mind behind many of these superheroes and I always love searching for his cameo☺️
IMO the Captain America trilogy is the best subseries within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While I personally prefer Winter Soldier and Civil War to First Avenger, First Avenger is still a fun throwback to the Golden Age of Comics stories that Captain America first debuted in.
Totally agree with Nick that Peggy and Steve have the best romance. I think it's so well built up throughout the film, and Peggy's character is such a great counter to Steve's. She likes him before he's Captain America, and he respects her as an agent. They're both marginalised in society, but they both have the character and drive to succeed, despite it. The "I had a date" ending line always gets me :(
Not magnetized. Based on the trajectory, he bounces it back to himself after hitting the target. It’s explained in the comics better that Steve’s enhancements weren’t just physical, his intelligence was heightened as well. He mentally calculates angles, velocities, and force in a split second as he throws.
Fun Fact: When Agent Carter touched Steve's chest, after his transformation, it wasn't scripted. It was a totally impromptu reaction. Fun Fact: Stan Lee was sitting next to the actor who played Captain America from the 90's Television show. 😁🍿
Great reaction! The Captain America trilogy is three of the five best movies in the MCU in my opinion. And the first three phases had a lot of good movies.
I remember not thinking it would be that good after seeing the the other movies. He's the most ordinary. But, I was surprised when it's actually my favorite. He's such a good character.
Being "ordinary" is what makes him so appealing, he's somebody that a lot of people can relate to. It also sets up the contrast between him and Tony Stark in later films.

For any still wondering why Steve never changed his uniform or took a Hydra disguise: deception of intent or bad faith engagement in combat is seen as dishonorable. Although the Geneva Conventions wouldn’t formally codify the crime of “perfidy” until 1977, Steve’s personal sense of honor and honesty when serving in the military likely wouldn’t allow it. He’s not a spy, he’s a soldier. And I wonder if that might cause conflict with anyone from SHIELD in later movies…
In war a lot of time your only tactic is to overwhelm your opponent with a massive frontal attack (the prison break). As a soldier, you do what is needed, when it is needed and you cry about it later if you survive.
Red Skull was created in comics in the 1940s, so it's more likely that he inspired Voldemort. Although in the original version, the skull was just a mask.
Popular up until the 70s, a FONDUE set would include a small pot over a heating element in the center of a tray of squares (1-2" ) of bread to use a skewer to spear the bread, and dunk it in the hot cheese pot and eat.
It's still popular here in Austria. It is a Silvester tradition. We did that once when I was a teen (in the 90s). In some places it got replaced by Raclet but you still see a lot of advertisments for equipment around chrismas. There are also several typs of fondue. Beside cheese and bread you can also use fish and meat and dunk it into hot sauces and there is also chocolat fundue: in that case you dunk pieces of fruits and buisquits into molten chocolate. We had that as kids ones in my group of junior scouts. It's really good but kind of messy.
After Steve Rogers becomes a super soldier when Peggy touches Steve’s chest that’s just something that the actor of Peggy carter did and they kept it in the movie

The “Agent Carter” show was SO GOOD! Thor should def watch it. 2 seasons then it was canceled :( It really respected Peggy as a character and hero in her own right. Her strength, softness, and her ambition are all on display. It’s set in the 1950’s and follows her story hunting down hydra before she co-founds S.H.E.I.L.D. including the aftermath of Steve’s disappearance.

Here are some Captain America first avenger details you should know. Stark's new Arc reactor element that was created to fix the incomplete technology of the Arc reactor. Is a synthetic version of The tesseract energy without the cosmic properties. The super soldier program used on Steve Rogers is called weapon Plus which is the earlier version of the same program used on wolverine to give him his adamantium claws or better known as The weapon x program. A imperfect weapon plus serum was used on Emil Blonsky aka the abomination the villain from The incredible Hulk movie. The Hulk himself is a failed super soldier attempt but in the same regards he's also a success. The most important thing about Steve isn't what he says but his actions like jumping on the grenade which showed his character. If you didn't notice someone else was going for the grenade but Steve got there before Peggy. Everything that made Steve a good choice for the super soldier program also applies to Peggy. Infect you would have been a better choice if the circumstance of the time period didn't get in the way. If you want more proof watch the agent Carter TV series. It's only two seasons and whether it's Canon or not doesn't matter it's just a really good TV series. If you want to see something with Peggy Carter that is canon there is a marvel one shot short call agent Carter as well which is definitely Canon to the MCU.
This is my favorite of any MCU project! No other story has as much heart, or told the story of modern American heroism so well -- against the backdrop of what they called the Greatest Generation. 😉
I feel ashamed that I didn't catch it before, and many people probably did, and I'm a dummy, but the early conversation with Steve and Bucky "Where are we going?" "To the future" and in the end Cap indeed does go to the future from being frozen.
An interesting comparison to the Tree of Good and Evil and the serpent, but the deeper meaning would be the World Tree, Yggdrasill, with the serpent representing the World Serpent (or Midgard Serpent) Jormumgandr since it relates to the 9 realms of Norse mythos.
My only complaint about this movie is red skull isn't sinister enough, also the director Joe Johnson also directed the rocketeer so you can see some of the feeling from rocketeer in this movie ,Joe also is a good design artist and did some work on raiders of tbe lost ark the lighting and noise from the cube sound very similar to the nazis camera scene on the island at the end of raiders of the lost ark
Yes! Captain America is my favorite Avenger! He was born to be not only a great leader, but a great hero. Looking forward to seeing you reacting to the Avengers.
I hate how 'Avengers' and 'Age of Ultron' totally ignores Bucky in the scenes with Steve's trauma when Bucky is like 90% of that trauma if not more...😒😒😒
Great reaction! The first Captain America movie is a great introduction to the character, but honestly, his other movies blow this one out of the water.

I'm so sorry to hear about your sickness, and I'm happy that these videos can be a small source of comfort keeping you company during this hard time. Thank you and stay strong!
Nice catch at 7:01 in fact in Iron Man 2 when Tony is looking at Howard's notes you can see a page with the Tesseract in it, meaning that the entire idea of the Arc Reactor came from Howard's experience with the Tesseract most probably.
2:00 Yup. Hugo Weaving. Famous for portraying Agent Smith in the Matrix films, Elrond in the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit films, and voicing Megatron in the live-action Transformers films. Unfortunately, Weaving declined to reprise his role as Johann Schmidt/Red Skull in future MCU entries, and was recast with Ross Marquand (best known for portraying Aaron in The Walking Dead). 18:54 They (Marvel Studios) didn't have the rights to be comic-accurate here, but this (the Weapons Plus Program) was the very same program that created Wolverine (well, fused his bones with Adamantium) and later created Deadpool. Steve Rogers was the first (or "Weapon I"). Logan/Wolverine was the 10th (hence his designation "Weapon X"). 20:00 Likely not coincidentally, Marvel Comics began during the WWII era (but under the name "Timely Comics", not being renamed "Marvel Comics" until 1961). 23:45 Note: This is the ONLY movie you'll see Captain America using guns. 32:55 This is a "don't think about it too hard" deal. Originally, Captain America just super good at throwing it so it'd bounce back to him. But the MCU explains it by the shield being made of Vibranium (actually Adamantium, same stuff Wolverine's skeleton and claws are fused with, but Marvel Studios couldn't legally use the term "Adamantium" since Fox owned it along with everything X-Men related at the time, so they created "Vibranium"). And Vibranium has a unique property of ignoring Newton's Third Law (the law of equal and opposite actions). Basically, if Captain America's shield were made of anything else, upon hitting a wall, the wall would "hit back" with an amount of force equal to the force it struck the wall with, and fall to the ground. But in the case of Vibranium, the unique metal completely nullifies the "equal and opposite force" (the wall "hitting back"), thus preserving the energy and momentum the shield had when thrown, causing it to keep bouncing, since it isn't losing any momentum. But of course, it this property was applied all the time, it would continuously bounce even if dropped straight onto the floor. So there's the explanation, but still don't think about it too hard. 34:35 A little nod to the comics, as Bucky becomes the next Captain America after Steve Rogers in them. 34:50 There's a very famous saying in the comic book world: "No one in comics stays dead except for Bucky Barnes, Jason Todd, and Uncle Ben." This quote of course referring to the fact that the characters of Captain America, Batman, and Spider-Man universally must lose these important people in order to grow as a character. Kind of like how Batman can't exist unless his parents are murdered. 45:35 There are several things that immediately gave away that the woman wasn't the real Peggy Carter. Her hair, clothes, makeup, height, voice (was very similar, but not similar enough for someone who heard it only hours prior from his perspective). 46:25 Perhaps. But it's the super-soldier serum that extended his lifespan, kept him pretty much ageless all that time. But the ice definitely kept him alive in the short term before he was found.
This might be my favorite of the origins. I've liked Cap since I was a kid in the 80s. I was thrilled when I finally got to really see him done well in live action.
So, I'm not sure if you are aware, but the thing bruce banner was tasked with trying to develop when he turned into the hulk was the super soldier serum. It went wrong and evolved him into the hulk. That, mixed with his childhood trauma. Remember, the super soldier serum enhances your inner feelings and attributes. Bruce has child hood trauma and is deeply angry, Steve was born sick / lowly and only ever wanted to be better and to help
The over movies the characters had a hero's journey to become who they are. Captain America didn't go through a hero's journey. He was a good man who never had the chance or means to do good in the world, was given the ability to act out the good in the world, the good that he already had. This is what makes Cap stand out from all the others. Which makes you respect him as a good man more than ever being a super soldier.
Cap was the comic book character that got me into comics back in 1968. They couldn't have cast a better actor for the role of Steve Rogers, and the film was done magnificently. So glad I lived long enough to see the technology be right to make all these MARVEL films!
19:07 - Just taking a second to point out that this is his comic-accurate costume. 32:45 - Nah, it's all just Trig. 54:18 - Remember what he said in his video to Tony. "I'm limited by the technology of my time." He had the groundwork for many new technologies, but not the supporting technology to execute them. The Arc Reactor was the first tech capable of fully powering Howard's designs, and Tony was the first to reduce it to a practical size.
Great movie, it really does a good job of building interest in Steve Rogers even before he becomes Captain America. Same goes for Peggy Carter You should also check out ”The Rocketeer”. It’s another superhero movie set during World War II that was directed by the same guy as this one. Sadly, it was pretty underappreciated in its own time because it came out at the same time as Terminator 2

Cap was co- created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby back in the war. Joe Simon also co-created Superman. There wouldn't be superhero comics without Joe Simon.
We don’t really see it in the MCU, but Stark did finish the flying car. We see it briefly in Agents of SHIELD. But it clearly never went on sale to the public.
Just rewatched this movie today as part of my MCU marathon. I still love it after all these years, and I'm reminded of why it was the first movie I insisted on seeing a second time in theaters. Edit: 32:40 - There actually was a tie in video game called Captain America: Super Soldier. Can't remember if it was any good or not.
What amazes me most about this movie is how much Chris Evans slimmed down for the beginning. Apparently it only took him 6 months. He vowed to do it due to his hatred of cgi. Source -- Abraham Lincoln

"Another 30 years and he'd be the Avatar". Perfect.
I mean...ok I know it's probably a spoiler but they both did...
Quynh guessing Men in Black - super cute
Super reaction, thanks.
I discovered your channel about a month ago, and it has fast become one of my favourite ways to pass some time. Being chronically ill has become incredibly lonely, I can't leave the house or see other people very often, but your videos feel like watching a film with friends. It really lifts my mood, so thank you both for doing what you do.
I'm so sorry to hear about your sickness, and I'm happy that these videos can be a small source of comfort keeping you company during this hard time. Thank you and stay strong!
This is still my favorite Marvel film. The action, the music, the style, the characters from the leads to the secondary characters. Pure magic. .
Nice catch at 7:01 in fact in Iron Man 2 when Tony is looking at Howard's notes you can see a page with the Tesseract in it, meaning that the entire idea of the Arc Reactor came from Howard's experience with the Tesseract most probably.
19:45 omg not her getting immersed in the show just like the kids 😂too cute
Thank you, guys!
A beautiful touch from the sound designer to make Red Skull's guns sounds exactly the same as Iron Man's hand repulsers
Fun fact about the super soldier syrum, it enhances everything, senses, IQ. In the civil War comic series, a few months and cap is a wiz at hacking.
“Torture him” 😂😂😂 she’s so effortlessly funny.
Y'all are so cute together and love watching y'all react to movies together
Makes me happy watching the two of you go on this journey I am extremely excited for your NEXT reaction.
When he went down with the plane sacrificing himself he actually became frozen. Alive but suspended, 66 years later he was found and revived
that car is soo amazing
19:07 - Just taking a second to point out that this is his comic-accurate costume.
32:45 - Nah, it's all just Trig.
54:18 - Remember what he said in his video to Tony. "I'm limited by the technology of my time." He had the groundwork for many new technologies, but not the supporting technology to execute them. The Arc Reactor was the first tech capable of fully powering Howard's designs, and Tony was the first to reduce it to a practical size.
I really like we got more of Howard and Peggy in the Agent Carter series
Such a great reaction from both of you thanks!
29:27 That guy sitting next to Stan Lee is B movie actor Reb Brown, he played Captain America in two 1979 tv movies.
Great movie, it really does a good job of building interest in Steve Rogers even before he becomes Captain America. Same goes for Peggy Carter
You should also check out ”The Rocketeer”. It’s another superhero movie set during World War II that was directed by the same guy as this one. Sadly, it was pretty underappreciated in its own time because it came out at the same time as Terminator 2
Hi, l love watching people's reactions, but yours is the most tangible. I've seen your girlfriends reactions and they are the sweetest ones I've ever seen her quotes are so funny and sweet. Please keep up those wonderful reactions she's so beautiful to watch. When beggy catches steeve kissing she said oh ,o your fired that was hilarious❤
Cap was co- created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby back in the war. Joe Simon also co-created Superman. There wouldn't be superhero comics without Joe Simon.
Yggdrasil the world tree from Norse mythology. If you've played the newer God of War games you'll probably remember it
Red Skull's first appearance was in the 1941 Captain America #1. Cheers.
I think that the scientist that created Captain America is called Abraham Erskine.
We don’t really see it in the MCU, but Stark did finish the flying car. We see it briefly in Agents of SHIELD.
But it clearly never went on sale to the public.
The person sitting near Stan Lee in this cameo is Matt Salinger. He played Captain America in the movie Captain America (1990).
1:00:35 voldemort may have taken his look from the Red Skull. Red Skull was one of Captain America’s main foes for decades, way before harry potter.
Peggy 🙌🏽🙌🏽💞 love her.
Love the period ww2 feel to this movie
Just rewatched this movie today as part of my MCU marathon. I still love it after all these years, and I'm reminded of why it was the first movie I insisted on seeing a second time in theaters.
Edit: 32:40 - There actually was a tie in video game called Captain America: Super Soldier. Can't remember if it was any good or not.
46:20 "Another 30 year he'd be the Avatar 😮"
That cracked me up 😂
One of the best Mcu movies
"... While the Fuhrer digs for trinkets in the desert ..." Always felt like this was a direct reference to Raiders Of The Lost Ark'. :)
P.S. Stucky (Steve&Bucky) Forever 🔥❤️🔥
What amazes me most about this movie is how much Chris Evans slimmed down for the beginning. Apparently it only took him 6 months. He vowed to do it due to his hatred of cgi. Source -- Abraham Lincoln
Trust a vampire hunter to get the real facts 👍
Niiiice.
My Favorite Hero!!!
32:41 "This would be such a good videogame"
So, about that... THERE IS! I own a copy of the game. "Captain America: Super Soldier" for the X360, PS3, Wii, DS and 3DS.
Why i'm being so emotion seeing this movies again? When i was a kid i hardly was caring in some off these scenes, just having a good time, maybe because of Quynh watching for the first time
Also this is my favorite captain america movie
