    The only Guardian who talks about having a good relationship with his parents is Drax, and despite being very literal and blunt, he’s the only one who has no trouble expressing himself. The rest all had rough childhoods and a difficult or even abusive relationship with parental figures, and it’s lead to all of them having difficulty being vulnerable and emotionally honest with others and themselves. I love how this movie really explores that with each character. I feel like a lot of people didn’t like this Guardians movie as much as the other two, but it’s my favorite. If for no other reason than Michael Rooker being so stinkin’ cool as Yondu.

    Telepathic abilities are more effective than empathic abilities but each have their own strength and drawbacks. Both abilities start off simple like feeling emotions to listening to inner thoughts. Then progressed to the stage where you can effecting emotions or controlling actions with the eventual conclusion of both powers leading to the total surrender of one's will. Telepaths versatile which can lead to spiritual travel to the astral plane to even body snatching but despite those benefits telepath can still be easily blocked with metal protection on someone's head. Empathic abilities cannot be blocked while also being able to imprint until someone else but most empath generally requires physical contact which can be avoided.

      I can understand it, there was simply more GOTG in 3 than there was in 1 or 2. 😃 In my opinion, GOTG 1 and 2 are basically perfect movies. 3 would have been too (or two, pun, never mind) but it had enough story material to be 3 AND 4. In my opinion, today's MCU production is going down and I believe Gunn smelled the smoke in the air and knew he had to finish his saga now, there's not enough reliability in the MCU cycle to make it to part 4 anymore. So he put all the rest in one movie and I think it was beautifully great GOTG stuff but man that was just _hefty._

    The reason Groot went from baby to teenager so fast is he was right down at Ego's original core. Like all plants, he collects energy from his surrounding. So he picked up some Celestial energy that made him grow up quickly and develop some new features.
    Celestials are among the most powerful beings in the Marvel universe. Knowhere is the severed head of a former Celestial, and Ego is the second one we have met. Later we find out a new Celestial is growing on Earth, and that may explain why so many Infinity Stones are connected to Earth (Space, Mind, and Time stones, 3 of 6) and why Peter is the only one of Ego's children to carry the Celestial gene.

    16:21 - They're referring to an 80s action series called _Knight Rider._ David Hasselhoff played Michael Knight, a believed-dead cop who was hired by the philanthropic Knight Industries to act as a vigilante/counter-terrorist agent. He was partnered with the Knight Industries Two Thousand (KITT), a hyper-advanced sports car equipped with bullet-proof shielding, state-of-the-art electronics, a turbo boost, and most importantly, and advanced Artificial Intelligence that served as Michael's sidekick. Imagine if Tony Stark had put JARVIS into a Ferrari. Here's the Season 3 opening: ruclips.net/video/94UDaYcUg68/видео.html
    55:40 - These are actually the ORIGINAL Guardians of the Galaxy. The team we've been following in the MCU is actually the second team to go by that name in the comics.
    56:10 - This is another post-credits scene that doesn't live up to what it SHOULD be setting up. Although this one DOES go somewhere, it's not nearly as great as what it led to in the comics.

    • @legionaireb
      @legionaireb 2 месяца назад +4

      That's the etymology, but the WORD 'ego' as is commonly understood comes from Sigmund Freud, who used it to describe the self-aware portion of the human mind, along with the Id and the Superego. It was this understanding from which Stan Lee drew inspiration for the character.

    • @lassesipila6418
      @lassesipila6418 2 месяца назад +1

      @@legionaireb That's not just etymology, that's literally a character whose world included only itself for aeons referring to itself as "I" instead of a name, because it can't conceive of needing one. This is an in-universe explanation, a curious point in the development arc of the character, while what you're describing is the out-universe explanation, the inspiration for the character's creator for forming the character in this image.
      I'm saying this because you used the word "but" as if you were rebutting OP's point but you're not, you're making a different point next to him. In the video Nick pointed out how it's super egotistical (pun intended) for a character to decide to name himself Ego, because he's considering the English word "ego" with the Freudian meaning but I believe OP is pointing out that Ego didn't name himself that, he called himself ego because he calls himself "me".

    Theme for this movie is about families by blood and by choice. Also it is never too late to make amends. And if someone is so toxic to your life, cut them out of yours no matter who they are. (maybe don't blow them up unless absolutely,100% you don't have a choice.)
    I'm glad Nebula, Karen Gillan, has shifted from a villain to . . not being one. She is a fun actor. Kind of a waste of her talents being bad.

    The group at the end, that Stallone was in, are the actual guardians of the galaxy from the comic books.

    This one goes so much harder than the first. It's funnier and the emotional moments hit harder. I also think Ego is a better villain than Ronan.

    I laughed a lot when Rocket said that him stealing the batteries was "drax fault".
    Even someone like Drax, who lacks common sense, could tell stealing the batteries was suicide.

    1:10:50 Except Ego said he could *not* have given everything up to stay with Peter's mother or live on Earth. Earlier, he claimed he as to return this body to the planet.

    Director James Gunn is phenomenal. He brings another awesome soundtrack and "team of lovable losers" vibe to DC's _THE Suicide Squad,_ which I wholeheartedly recommend. (It's not necessary to watch the previous film.)

    The literal meaning of the word 'ego' just means 'consciousness' - the current popular usage has kind of obscured that slightly, but that's literally what he was to begin with, a lone consciousness floating through the cosmos. When there's just you and the universe for so long, it's not that weird of a conclusion to reach that your purpose is to make the universe you too. Oh right, a few specks of life have appeared, that's kind of interesting... ok, back to figuring out how to absorb everything ever!
    As for being evil - I don't think he was, he just had no frame of reference with which to place value on other intelligent life. He's not the product of evolution, and so has no imperitive to protect or not harm his next generation and so thought nothing of 'disposing' of them (as he might see it) when they turned out to be 'failures'. I would characterise him as pure, unadulterated neutrality, at least when he's in his natural form.

    I don't believe Ego's actually a Celestial
    He's an immensely powerful being, and the only beings he's heard of that are said to be as powerful as he is are Celestials. So of course he must be a Celestial, right?
    Plus, his name's Ego. Of course he's going to assume he's a God

    • @SilentBob731
      @SilentBob731 2 месяца назад +1

      Yeah, we've seen Celestials, they don't look like that. At his largest, he looked like a big red angry baby planet...definitely "small g" energy.

    This is in my opinion the last great James Gunn movie. He was made for marvel and not DC comics. They should have let Zach Snyder finish his story first before rebooting. Snyderverse stuff aside. This is James Gunn at his absolute funniest and greatest. Wish I could say the same for the 3rd GOTG film
