Hello Leckyjake, I am an ETO and I really enjoy your videos. Please can you share more information on troubleshooting the mechanical governor? I believe it is manufactured by RE ( Regulateurs Europe).
Hello so the governor was stuck .Did you replace the governor after this problem because it can be respected again? So there is a internal wear of components that makes governor stuck in full position.After 10 years governors should be given outside for checking and adjustment from maker.
I suspect the governor needs to be rebuilt high amperage output in order to get governor to function will cause controller to go out again. the governors are constantly moving ever so slightly. many times governors can be the issue. I dealt with air over hydraulic governors which are older technology. also the pyrometers that give feedback to the controller have feed back tables with response times in the millisecond I presume. sometimes it's better to go into the controller and turn down frequency of adjustment. depending on controller it should be possible. also the range at which the controller tries to keep pyrometer within temp range.

Good Job. You know your stuff. I cannot imagine how that generator was left without the governor connected. Especially with safety circuits disconnected. I work on Yacht size generators and can attest to the huge damage an overspeed can do to the unit and all connected loads.

Ship HV generator 6.6 kv 4500kw i am trying to test reverse power trip. The Breaker setting 450kw 10% of full load. When testing generator lower load untill -430kw it’s go back -350 kw. I am trying two times to reach -450kw but failed, suspected governor mechanical linkage activated. Do you have any idea regarding this matter? And how you test HV generator reverse power trip?? #TIA
I think all I can say is that, when I got the interview, it was just a standard interview just like any other HR are doing. There was an exam but after that it was purely about Human Resources interview

Ominous that your last few videos that involve wires not yet connected by shore crew. Do they leave the ship without telling you where they are up to? When I used to make repairs on ships I would always tell the Chief or Electrician where I was up to if the ship was leaving before I was finished.
Check the resistance of the DC motor The solenoid coil The knob if you can manually adjust it or turn Then the respond on the fuel rack. Atleast I am talking about this type

Base on my experience Governor Overhauling is to be done on shore. It’s a very sensitive thing to do onboard.

Seems awfully sloppy for the ship to be dispatched with a generator with multiple faults and worse, no logbook entries describing the known issues.
It was a newly wired from the shore tech. Everything was replaced and that's were the problem exists.

Hinde yun stuck up . Mataas lang setting ng speed synchronizer dahil sa problema na hinde na naibalik noong may load pa kaya nag overspeed

Change the setting by lowering the percentage reverse power trip. 7-10 percent with a littlr delay
Trying to set below 10% but failed due to minimum only can set 10%.

Temp switch being tested with heat gun blower is not proper. How in the world will you know the correct temp. Calibrated thermal well should be used.
