    This looks AMAZING, and I'm sure a family of four can save for years and years just to get the chance to go to one game. Including parking, food, drinks, and game tickets that will cost that family of four a cool $2000 or maybe $4000 by the time it's completed.

      Especially as your taxes will spike to pay for this! Let the 100 year old billionaire and her family pay for it. Tell the city of Chicago to sell the land and building to them for what they would pay in Arlington Heights and the cost of a new stadium after renovations. Otherwise Chicago may as well kiss their team goodbye and make plans to commute a whole (gasp) 30 minutes into the suburbs

    A bad idea that is not going to happen.
    While the city was gutting the oldest stadium in the league Seattle was building Qwest Field for half the cost of the Soldier Field renovation.
    A renovation that reduced the seating capacity to the smallest in the NFL and cost Soldier Field its landmark status.
    THAT is why the Bears are leaving.
    In the former location of the South Works steel mill you have a vacant 415 acre site on the lakefront that could be given to the Bears and let them build their own stadium but that is way too close to the crime problems that plague the South Side.
    The Mayor is just too busy floating ideas like this and a casino instead of getting control of that mess.

      That is not accurate that the city did something different from what the Bears wanted in 2002, the city gave the Bears everything they wanted. Seating capacity isn't important to teams anymore its all about premium seating that they can sell to corporations and extremely high net worth individuals. And the reason the Bears are moving is because they can own a stadium/real estate development, not because they are dissatisfied with the 2002 renovation.

      They do not want to rent a stadium, they are going to own the land in Arlington Heights and they are done with Soldier Field.
      The Mayor claims "We will just get another team"

      The renovation was paid for by the city, the NFL and the Bears but the NFL and the Bears do not own the stadium while the city does.
      That money was poorly spent and now they are going to be stuck with tiny crowds at Soccer games, occasional concerts and a college football game once in a while.
      That is if they can finally manage to keep the turf in playing condition for ANY sporting events.

    I'm a Chicagoan and love this, but realistically is there enough density in the area to support the One Central development? I could see somethign like this in NYC where there is a mass of people to support all of the businesses.

    • @bobbeebottlezzNYC
      @bobbeebottlezzNYC Год назад

      .... Of course there are plenty of people to support this idea... Especially when the infrastructure is mostly in place with mass transit. It's just about extending train lines and adding stations to the new stadium.... With this redevelopment it could attract a big time college football championship games, the super bowl, even world cup soccer games and even gives the city of Chicago and advantage for any Olympics bid... The problem here is that the property is owned by the city of Chicago.... And the Chicago Bears & the NFL will not allow all of this redevelopment that ONLY raises a revenue for the city of Chicago without a true partnership.... Instead of letting the Chicago Bears by the property in Arlington Heights the greedy city of Chicago should have thought about selling the lakes front property which Soldier Field currently stands on.... Also figured out a deal with the city on redevelopment for mass transit hub, hotels and convention center... Now they want to put out this proposal to keep Chicago's beloved team in the city when it might be a little too late.... The ownership of the Bears has already paid 300 plus million for the new proposed property in Arlington..... It's to see the situation so badly mismanaged

    I'm kind of on the fence on this one.
    On the one hand, it's a great presentation. Quite imaginative. Something that the city has been talking about for decades and should be built.
    But on the other hand, I don't think it would work for the Bears in that I strongly suspect that the Bears are looking for ownership of their facility. Not just be a lead tenant (paying rent to the City). For the teams history, they've never owned their own stadium. With Arlington Heights, they finally will. I think that's what's truly driving the Bears.
    But the facility should be built. The transit portion would work beyond belief. The dome would give the city yet another year round facility that generates revenue for the city.

    • @larrywynn505
      @larrywynn505 Год назад +3

      The point is : a major tenant (like the Bears) is needed for ROI.
      If the Bears want to own their own stadium, they should pay for it ON THEIR OWN.
      Don't stop them. They've made tons of money using Soldier Field and Chicago. Now.... let them move.
      Recruit another NFL franchise to play in Soldier Field.

    • @larrywynn505
      @larrywynn505 Год назад +3

      Mstephens - Bingo! The Bears want their own stadium, BUT they want Chicago taxpayers to pay for it.
      This is the team that traded Roquan Smith, Kahlil Mack and ____Quinn. They did it to save $$$, not invest in it. The Bears want Chicgo to GIVE them money!
      The McCaskeys care about enriching THEMSELVES, not entertaining Chicago fans.
      I say, let them go to Arlington Hts. And Chicago should find another team who wants to play in Soldier Field.

      @@michaelskoomamacher5652Yeah that's the point dude. You can't demand or want to own a facility and not have the funds to build it. If the Bears and the NFL want their own facilities, THEY need to pay for it in full without city taxes or tax breaks. Otherwise they should quit their bitching.
