I was born in Poland and usually the sauerkraut used has been heated first and sauteed with mushrooms, onions and spices. Let cool and then stuff the pierogis, then boil. It's common to eat them with beetroop soup and carmelized onions.
PIEROGIIIIS!!! As a polish i am so glad that you liked it. Here, we do not use potatoes to make a dough, with a dough like this we make "kluski śląskie", "kopytka" or "knedle". But we do have pierogis filled with potatoes, onions, and cottage cheese "pierogi ruskie". Exploring diffrent cuisines is sooo freaking good < 3
exactly, i was shocked when i saw she was using potatoes to make dough but i'm also shocked that people are using cottage cheese to make pierogi ruskie so you learn every day i guess 😅
Bean tips: You don't need to soak red lentils. Just cook them the same as rice. Don't add salt until after your beans are cooked. The salt makes them stay hard. You can add a tiny bit of baking soda to make them cook slightly quicker but I don't think its worth it.
I want more people to know it's not about perfection, its about doing what works best for you. As controversial as it may be in the vegan community, I think more people will make the shift and stick with it if they don't have to be perfect 100% of the time! Lots of love💛✨
you literally make vegan lifestyle seem so fun and simple!! I have been wanting to go plant based for the longest! This video makes me feel confident in making simple and hearty meals!!
hi, you can eat the radicchio raw. just chop it as you with cabbage and dress it with olive oil, salt and balsamic vinegar (that's how we mostly eat it in italy)
I wish I could live like this. Where I live I don’t have access to a bulk food store and a lot of veg comes in packages 😢. There’s also no way that as a student on a budget I have 80+ dollars to spend on groceries.... my weekly groceries are 20 dollars at the max. But I am vegan, and I use mostly dried beans as my protein source instead of buying meat replacements, so that already reduces the amount of waste created by packaging. I also go to multiple different grocery stores to buy vegetables without plastic (for instance some stores sell cucumbers without plastic wrap and others only sell with the wrap). I bring my own reusable bags for anything that you would put in a bag to weigh (like fruit). I’ve also been exclusively buying clothes at the thrift shop for the past three years and only when I absolutely need something. My grandma also taught me how to mend clothes ❤️ so I don’t really throw anything out, twice a year I just go through my closet to see if anything needs mending and then I sit down for an afternoon to get it all done. I just think the most important thing is to do what you can. It doesn’t have to be perfect as long as you do your best.
Try adding the sauce to the hot veggies and pasta and hot heating it up o the stove. It’s a game changer and changes the consistently to even more creamy 😋💛💛💛💛
I always, always look forward to your videos Julia! You are so uplifting, your food recipes so inspiring and love your spirit! I LOVE everything about you!
PEELING A SQUASH?!!!!? How have I never thought to do this before!! So much easier than trying to cut around and manoeuvre the knife taking off the peel. WOah Julia, you've officially blown my mind
I LOVE your honesty! I'm trying really hard to stick to a plant-based diet but I do crave eggs sometimes. Honoring my body's cravings is important to me, so I'm really grateful to see another vegan being honest about that, too. You rock!
I would watch any video of yours because of your great energy, sense of humor and creativity but not going to lie, a zero-waste challenge got me even more interested. Trying to live more sustainably myself for a few years already, I still find it difficult at times so having more inspirations/ideas is always welcome :D Thank you for taking us along your week! . Have a fantastic week ahead Julia! Lots and lots of love!
Hi! If you wanted a store option with less packaging thats on the cheaper side sprouts is a good option. A lot of the produce doesn't have packaging and they have a really big bulk section and you can use your own bags and jars. Just get your jars weighted up front when you get there. I know windco also a good option too and they tend to be even cheaper
Thank you for putting bean liquid in your soup. It has so much flavor and adds thickness. I'm always telling that put to drain your beans in the instructions to Not drain their beans in hopes that they or their followers might listen to me. Vegan soups have so much more potential when they have a better texture and flavor!
As a indian teen girl , when I saw the sub. Of the video which is zero waste😮 +vegan💚😊 . I just did one thing 'Subscribed' your channel without seeing the full video . Because If the topic is 👏 then the video will more than this 👏 . Thank you for sharing such a ever everyone friendly recipes 🤜🤛 with us ......lots of love and stay safe and be happy!
u should start a weekly newsletter with all your recipes you usually include in the description! I know personally, I’m more inclined and reminded to try new recipes when I get emails. Like Emily Mariko.
What a beautiful dish! Your clear and easy to follow directions/presentation made this look so easy to make. I’m definitely going to make this recipe just modified slightly to fit my families dietary needs/restrictions. I think my kids will like it. Thank you for the fantastic idea. I am so happy to learn from other skilled creators like you. I also make RUclips cooking videos. I hope we can learn from each other as we grow! Thank you so much for sharing your time and talent. I look forward to watching future videos!
a great way to use radicchio is to shred it and add into your salads, it gives them a bit of a kick cause it's a bit bitter but with a bit of vinegar or lemon juice is very good!!
Okay but smoothies in winter hit different! I always crave smoothies in the winter and hot oatmeal bowls in the summer and I have no idea why but it's been like this for years XD
I want to make that tahini veggie pasta dish SO BAD it looks SO AMAZING !! UPDATE: I MADE IT for my whole family IT'S AMAZING WE LOVE IT!! edit: Also keeping a freezer container full of veggie scraps for broth is SUCH a good idea I am definitely going to do this now. Loved this video I'd so enjoy to watch another one of these if you do it again in the future.
Love your videos Julia! You are such a nice and kind person and it's always such fun to watch your videos💕 the idea with this zero waste video is amazing and I loved watching it. You are right, it's not about being perfect but about maybe adding everyday a little bit more of the good habits ☺️ Send you much love❤️
Another great video ☺️💗 be careful about not washing your produce, especially the greens, even if it says triple washed or prewashed , they are often culprits of e. Coli, listeria, etc outbreaks literally every week!
Julia you are going to reach 100k before you know it and you totally deserve it. I know it is going to be a good, nourishing day when I start the day off with your video.
I think the Pirrogies are more like German "Schupfnudeln" od "Krautnudlen" , they look really delicious though. P:S if you dont know Schupfnudeln/Krautnudeln yet you HAVE to try them. love from germany
6:00 Radicchio is better raw. It's like a bitter crunch...cooking it makes it more bitter! It's really good for tortilla alternative or just chopped in a bowl
Hey Julia! I Love your content❤️❤️. I would like to see a video with different smoothies recipes. I’m looking for them all over your videos 😅. Greetings from Greece 😍
I saw you got a new pots and pans! Which brand are they? & what’s the brand of the one you usually use? For how much you cook, it’s held up very well!!
This was amazing!!!! So many good ideas. Everything looks so vibrant and delicious 🥰 I am in the same boat - I gravitate towards more plant based rather than full blown vegan. I’m with you on the chickens! 💯👏🏻🐓🌿
Pierogi tip: for the dough you only need flour, oil, boiling water and salt. No potato! :) For my favorite pierogis use potato in the filling together with smoked tofu and fried onion. Happy to provide more info as a polish pierogi expert
Hey Julia if you like lentils, you should look up khichdi, I am very sure you're gonna like it. (Indian comfort food) very easy, very tasty, very healthy.
great video, i have the stomach flu rn and kinda lost my appetite but my mouth still watered watching you cook all those delicious meals 🤤 also wanted to know, if you could move anywhere in the world where would you want to go? or would you choose to stay where you are?
I would really like to start a zero waste lifestyle but its SO hard. None of the really big companies really understand how damaging their products are to the environment even the ones that pretend they do.
I’m such a sweet tooth I could never have a Buddha bowl for breakfast 🙃 I love my porridge + fruit + peanut butter 😍 but all your meals look amazing for lunch/dinner inspo 👌
I love you so much so I really hope you don’t take this the wrong way but as someone who is in recovery from an Ed and uses your Chanel as a safe place it is kinda uncomfortable hearing things like “giving me that extra tacos going to make me fat” not trying to send hate you Literally are the highlight of my day when you post just wanted to send awareness maybe hopefully next time💖
I absolutely love your videos and have become inspired by the way you eat what you want and have used a bunch of your recipes already! Does your oat milk separate when you use it in hot drinks? Whenever I make mine it separates in my tea and coffee!😕
I didn’t find it separated when adding it into hot drinks but it doesn’t do well being heated up over the stove! ( using quick oats and really cold water will help the texture! )
Trust me I know that, which in itself is a bit backwards in my head. Many people ( in the vegan community ) don’t realize how they are segregating themselves and making it harder for people that have never been exposed to Veganism. When we all can accept people and explain our point of view without attacking the other person then we can create a better and more inclusive environment for everyone. It’s never about being perfect, it’s about trying
7:30 It is *so* annoying when produce is packaged in plastic, right? We can really only make the best with what we have available because sometimes it is just out of our reach to buy plastic-free if it is much more expensive :( I am lucky that in Poland there are actually quite some stores where the majority of the produce is without packaging but still, there are some which I cannot buy zero-waste literally anywhere...
Don’t forget about Klima! Use my code: JAYERS10 to have 10 tress planted in you name and go carbon neutral🌲🙌🏻 klima.onelink.me/GVvD/juliaayers

@@wiktoriakaminska4570 idk how i should translate twaróg lol
@@marcelina5576 ok, that makes sense, curd cheese maybe? i'm not sure either 😅

I might be wrong, but I believe soaking lentils and other legumes before cooking them makes the nutrients inside them more bioavailable :)
Love your channel!! Thank you for sharing about not being 100% vegan or perfect. I am probably 90% plant based!!
I want more people to know it's not about perfection, its about doing what works best for you. As controversial as it may be in the vegan community, I think more people will make the shift and stick with it if they don't have to be perfect 100% of the time! Lots of love💛✨
when she said she loved that egyptian spice i felt so happy as an egyptian .love u julia
You're honestly the reason I became vegan, most of my recipe inspirations are from you, Julia, thank you!!
Me too! She is so inspiring.
Pierogi with sauerkraut, onion and champinions ;) 💚
I'm loving your channel and energy that's why I am binge watching your videos lol

Totally! It is so delicious with a simple vinaigrette!
your videos are like a warm hug you r such a warm person😊!! I love watching your cooking and I’m totally getting inspo for my next weeks meals lol
Radiccio you eat raw as in salad. You can grate it as you would cabbage, and eat it with cabbage or any green salad ☺️
You are amazing! Keep up the great content.
❤️🥰 you inspire me little lady

I’d love to see you do a video on using less energy such as gas and electric! Maybe a raw based or something? But still cooking just less times etc!
ngl all of your food looks so amazing 🤤 will enjoy this one too! have a good day julia 💖

I wash all my produce when I first get it in the house so that way I don’t have to think about it after 🥰
Love the zero/low waste content. Keep it coming..
Thanks for inspire me , soon i am gonna put online a cook book that i make
Such a cool idea! I love ur videos, they give me a lot of meal insp ❤️❤️
For the recipes of the radicchio, I love to put it on top of all my plates/salad! It gives little bitter and crunchiness to our meals 😍
Thank you!!
Julia you are going to reach 100k before you know it and you totally deserve it. I know it is going to be a good, nourishing day when I start the day off with your video.
Best recipe for pierogi dough is just Water, flour and Salt. Kisses from Poland ❤️❤️
Thanks so much love! 😘✨💛
You don’t need presoak red lentils :) After they will be too much mushy, you can just wash them
I think the Pirrogies are more like German "Schupfnudeln" od "Krautnudlen" , they look really delicious though.
P:S if you dont know Schupfnudeln/Krautnudeln yet you HAVE to try them.

Me too!! I’m building for my chickens and would love to have my own bees as well. ❤️❤️
I was about to take a nap...but now I'm about to try and recreate one of your meals! thanks
Sister i wanna see Mitch more!!! 😁😁😁
Love your videos as always. Quick question: do you buy your spirulina powder at Bulk Barn?
No! I actually bought a big bag from Iherb, I gave a bunch away to friends / family and then store mine in the fridge to keep it fresh!
ur vid came at the literal perfect time
This was amazing!!!! So many good ideas. Everything looks so vibrant and delicious 🥰
I am in the same boat - I gravitate towards more plant based rather than full blown vegan. I’m with you on the chickens! 💯👏🏻🐓🌿
I really like the yellow pan! Does anyone know where she purchased it?
What a great way to challenge yourself in the kitchen ! I want to try this soon.

Buy pressure cooker for lentils and beans as they cook faster in the cooker ☺☺
Thank you for a very nice video of a simple vegan meal 👍
Hey Julia if you like lentils, you should look up khichdi, I am very sure you're gonna like it. (Indian comfort food) very easy, very tasty, very healthy.
Thank you for the idea! I've tried to make this in the past but I want to create a simpler version:)
great video, i have the stomach flu rn and kinda lost my appetite but my mouth still watered watching you cook all those delicious meals 🤤 also wanted to know, if you could move anywhere in the world where would you want to go? or would you choose to stay where you are?
I personally think zero waste is impossible. I think the amount of plastic and waste you produced in 1 week there is already quite impressive!
omg, Julia, you inspire me so much! now i have so many recipes and i can’t wait to try them! thanks, have a nice day🥰 love ur videos!!!
I would really like to start a zero waste lifestyle but its SO hard. None of the really big companies really understand how damaging their products are to the environment even the ones that pretend they do.
Love your egg speech! 👌🐔😂
You just made my day! ❤️
I’m such a sweet tooth I could never have a Buddha bowl for breakfast 🙃 I love my porridge + fruit + peanut butter 😍 but all your meals look amazing for lunch/dinner inspo 👌
How did your homemade veggie broth turn out?
I think most people eat raddichio raw in salads, but I've also seen people grill or roast it!
You are awesome!!
1:21 Me too ,I would like to have a chicken and rooster to wake me up every day
I love your videos GIRL!!!!!!!!!!
And I recently did this pickled onion and OMG! I can't live without it! LOVE IT
Was so excited when I saw the Upload announcement…stopped what I was doing

can you take us to a thrift store in like a vlog and then do a thrift haul???!!!
Ohhh I feel you so much, sadly the vegan community can be so toxic against "plant based" people.

Julia is an absolute girl boss 😗
Lots of love 😘😘
the hinge comment… i would be disinterested too😭😭
Yeaaaah a new one!😍❤️❤️
I love hemp protein it tastes way better than pea protein
Hi Julia. How have you been?
funfact: Pierogi do not need to have "s" in the end cause this name is plural at itself. Polish girl here! :*
Love uuuuu
it’s me, I sent you the video! ☺️🌶
my new fave youtuber! Funny and great recipes....I'm not even vegan lol
