I love watching first timers watch this. Definitely should watch their video of the song. The artistry in it is absolutely stunning. His voice is so beautiful and gritty, this song like some sort of comfort you didn't know you needed.
NOW THIS SONG IS COMPLETE! It took decades, two bands, two renditions and David’s relentless haunting beautifully perfected voice to have a perfect song.❤
Paul Simon apparently heard David sing this rendition and liked it so much that he said David should now own this song. He said this version really hits the emotions he was trying for when he wrote the original version.
I've never heard anyone cover a song with such respect, passion, and feeling! It's made me really pay attention to the actual message in the song. Stunning!
David Draiman...one of the best male vocalists on the planet imho. He has a tone to his voice I've never heard before. When he sings....you know who it is. He can go from angelic head voice to rasp/distortion on a dime and back....not easy to do. Also did you notice he can put vibrato on the rasp too? VERY difficult to do. Love your take on it CJ.
The best cover ever! Disturbed really made the message clear..Simon and Garfunkel did not have this effect on me.Maybe I was too Young or I didn't understand the lyrics English not being my language.Thank you for your reaction👍
As is often repeated, the statement goes that Simon and Garfunkel's version gave the warning; Disturbed's expresses the rage that the warning was not heeded. The same lyrics, in very different styles.
When Simon and Garfunkle did this it was a warning, David's version is anger that we did not heed the warning. See the cover by Puddles, His spin on the song reflects a deep sadness that the warning has come to fruition. 3 versions, each adding a meaning to the original, yet each true to the original composition. And David Draiman has one of the most amazing voices ever.
I absolutely love this song, listened to tons of reactions. Very nice break down. I must direct your attention to Time stamp, 3:46, watch bottom left and listen to what he says. 😻. About the background enhancing the video.
Another side to Disturbed ... "Don't Tell Me," from their album Divisive that dropped a few months ago. It's a bit of a power ballad, but it's a duet with David and Ann Wilson from Heart. I mean ... their voices together are freakin' epic! She's in her early 70s, so her voice has obviously changed from her days as a young rocker, but OMG, is it special! So rich and inviting, but in keeping with her rock goddess status. Love it!
I absolutely love both the official music video which has astounding video and the music and voice are crystal clear as you expect from a studio version while I live this live one is just as brilliant as he had to do it live and very sick and it's very rare for a live version to be as good as the studio version.
Simon and Garfunkels original version was the warning of what was to come if we didn’t change. Disturbed’s version is the rage because we didn’t listen. And it’s my favorite version.
Paul Simon wrote some great songs full of poetry and meaning. But the best versions of his songs are done by other singers. Bob Dylan’s cover of “The Boxer”, and David Draiman of Disturbed’s cover of “The Sound of Silence”, come to mind. The grit, emotion, and meaning of Simon’s lyrics were always present in his songs, but not best conveyed by Simon and Garfunkel’s voicals.
Better than the original, it gets the message across. I love Hold On To Memories as well. Have you reacted to any Home Free videos? They are my go to singing group, they helped me through the lockdowns, they put out a new video every two weeks even when they were all in different parts of the country and are still giving us Home Fries new music regularly. 🏴
David was so sick that night, but you can't tell... Your accent is eluding me and I'm fairly good with Scottish accents, love my Glaswegian, But just as I said Scottish, I heard an Irish... I'm gonna risk it all...lol Scottish
This has become a standard for the band, always expected at their live gigs! David and his brother were trained Jewish cantors. He turned to metal and his brother is an opera singer. Paul Simon said he wrote this after a dream and the meaning is still argued about. The video I feel talks of the rediscovery of lost music. One island find the sheet music, the other find the instruments and travel to them... Paul Simon saw THIS very performance on Conan and loved it. Poor David was really poorly with a bad cold when he sung it on Conan, so I urge you to watch the official video to hear David in top form and the visuals really add to the music. ruclips.net/video/Bk7RVw3I8eg/видео.html Check these interviews with David... ruclips.net/video/ntNfwoKD0XA/видео.html ruclips.net/video/7uKXHxV9AUc/видео.html David being interviewed and performing on stage The Vengeful One and Sound of Silence... ruclips.net/video/Jy6TSpv6BLs/видео.html The official video... ruclips.net/video/u9Dg-g7t2l4/видео.html The original Simon and Garfunkel version... ruclips.net/video/NAEppFUWLfc/видео.html Fascinating that Pentatonix chose to cover Disturbed’s version rather than the original... ruclips.net/video/gdVjVtpr55M/видео.html One of Disturbed’s classic tunes!!!! ruclips.net/video/09LTT0xwdfw/видео.html
Ah, thank you for reacting to this song, finally ❣ Disturbed and 'David Draiman's voice DEMANDED me to relly listen to the lyrics and message of the song. For me, there's no one beside this... Looking forward to your next reaction, and soon 10K SUBscribers 😘 PS. Love your cat, there's something so calming about a calm 🐈cat. 😻😻
Watch their official video of this ... the visual interpretation of the song is absolutely mind blowing. I have watched this hundreds of times, still get tears and chills.
Just found this by accident and I just cant stop listening to it again and again, I am 79 don't like Metal Bands but I am loving this he is so talented. I have been looking at other people's criticism and I love seeing the guys say they have goosebumps. I am sending links to all my friends to watch and listen.
Thanks for your comment!!! I hope you don’t mind me spamming like this. I am now posting on a new channel as this channel has had copyright issues, I would love to see your support to help grow a new better channel. Thanks again. youtube.com/@themusicjunkiechannel?si=40qlbMyjDQdwFWga
I like the joy and passion of your intelligent discussion. Very good combination. Tired of the reviews where someone just says, "That was good" and signs off. Give us more words, tell us what you liked, people! Like this man did.
"The guitar is far in the back ground" This is the only reason I like the studio version better, the guitar is up front and adds so much to the song, give it a listen. Also has a killer video to go along with the song.
Great reaction to a great song. Love this version so much. If you happen to get a chance I'd like to see you react to "We Got The Moves" by Electric Callboy (formerly Eskimo Callboy). Love to see your what you think of it. Thanks again for a wonderful reaction.
Great review... I know this is on the personal side but you ever been tested for Lupus? You have the classic butterfly rash. I'm not being mean. My mom passed from SLE and I got diagnosed a few months back. Nothing but love...
Thanks, I appreciate that yeah I struggle with spots since being an adult never as a child I was told was rosacea so I'm a bit bad with my diet. not supposed to have coffee, or wash in hot water but I'm terrible at keeping to it but I will check that.
Great reaction to a masterpiece 👌 could you please react to Piece by piece by Kelly Clarkson (live from the American idol farewell season)? It's a great version and she had Keith Urban in tears
Excusez moi, quelqu'un peut m'expliquer les paroles de cette belle chanson, elle trop belle ,j'adore et je veux bien savoir de quou parle cette belle chanson.
Finally!! Thank you for checking out my request brother. My patience has been rewarded with your satisfied reaction. Now for my second request... which you'll probably fulfill around May at this rate lol. Postmodern Jukebox (Aerosmith Cover) "Dream On" ft. Morgan James ruclips.net/video/Yq4KA0mUnC8/видео.html being a rock guy I thought you'd enjoy this little ditty from back in the day revamped by this musical collective PMJ. Enjoy and thanks again.
I do not call this a cover song. It is an experience and stands on its own merit. Still giving kudos to Paul Simon but Cover or not. Does t matter i. It is its own power and emotion. If you don't get chills, or emotional or tears then there is something seriously wrong with you.
I so want to go to a concert or comedy show and see you interrupt the live band or comedian to pause constantly so you can tell everyone around us what your opinions are DURING the show rather than wait and after enjoying the actual experience in full and reacting to it properly and then giving thoughts in parking lot (ie at the end when you can reply or jump to spots that impressed you). Do not fret 99.999999% of the so called REACTION videos do the same thing, which is a total lie because its an analysis video, to properly react it has to be uninterrupted and fresh. Still I do agree with what you said just hope future REACTIONS are treated as such and you react first and then pull it apart after.
Dude you have to pause it or it gets blocked. You can’t simply play the video in one. RUclips will cancel your channel eventually if you do that. If your not someone who posts regularly yourself you won’t know that. I always hope that if you truly love the performance you will go and watch the original video for yourself. All reactors have to do this.
You need to stop interrupting the song. How can you give a reaction to a song, that you haven't even heard the whole song ? It's impossible, because you lose the whole emotions and feelings of the song.
Love it ! Thanks for playing
I love watching first timers watch this. Definitely should watch their video of the song. The artistry in it is absolutely stunning. His voice is so beautiful and gritty, this song like some sort of comfort you didn't know you needed.
Just came across it tonight. I have probably watched 50 reactions now. Amazing stuff
NOW THIS SONG IS COMPLETE! It took decades, two bands, two renditions and David’s relentless haunting beautifully perfected voice to have a perfect song.❤
He was sick on this day. He performed with a fever and felt like crap. Flawless, amazing!
Paul Simon apparently heard David sing this rendition and liked it so much that he said David should now own this song. He said this version really hits the emotions he was trying for when he wrote the original version.
No matter how many times I listen to this song, I get the chills. Perfect cover.
I've never heard anyone cover a song with such respect, passion, and feeling! It's made me really pay attention to the actual message in the song. Stunning!
💯

The power of this version is just amazing.
He actually had the flu when he did this. He was upset when he needed auto tune at one part. Absolutely amazing.
David Draiman was classically trained as a cantor... Once you know that.. You can really pick it up in the absolute control he has over his voice.
He was trained as a Cantor in the Jewish Chirch
@@ellienesmith4016 yes, I learned this about a month ago and corrected my comment just now. Thanks 😊

Best cover ever. Saw the official music video in 2015, which is epic, and have been a Disturbed fan ever since.
Apparently David had a bad cold when he was singing this and refused to cancel.I love his voice he absolutely beautiful.
David Draiman had the flu when he performed this!! Incredible!!❤
Good reaction, thank you. I think people find Disturbed's cover of Sound of Silence when they are ready for it.
David is such phenomenal story teller...!

Yes... the best!!!
6:45 Your cat even seems pleased and entertained in the background, and we all know they’re the most hard to please. 🤣
This should give you goose bumps...
Well reacted to an amazing performance
There is nothing i don't love about this song. David Draiman is a gift from God.
When Simon and Garfunkle did this it was a warning, David's version is anger that we did not heed the warning. A mind blowing cover.

God works in mysterious ways, wake-up people, see whats really happening. 😮❤❤❤
Pure gold.
My favorite EVER! Ive listened to it at least 500 times..every day as long as i live! (Im 73...been listening to it since 2017)
Simon and Garfunkels original version was the warning of what was to come if we didn’t change. Disturbed’s version is the rage because we didn’t listen. And it’s my favorite version.

The video of the studio version shows the story exceptionally well but does not have the 20-piece orchestra behind him.
Wow
What do ya think: one analysis may see some haunting "Exorcist" (with the beginning piano) combined with Specters "wall of sound".
Please react to the performance of Russian singer Polina Gagarina in China on the show Singer with the song Kukushka
David was classically trained as a Cantor...
Just some information for you. He was very sick during this performance which is why he is sitting.
I wonder how O'Brian and the audience recovered after that performance lol
Best cover of ANY song ever... However... Please do it honor by watching the official video.
Wait for it...
Now listen to Pentatonix version of Sound of Silence...which, btw, sounds BETTER live
