David Draiman...one of the best male vocalists on the planet imho. He has a tone to his voice I've never heard before. When he sings....you know who it is. He can go from angelic head voice to rasp/distortion on a dime and back....not easy to do. Also did you notice he can put vibrato on the rasp too? VERY difficult to do. Love your take on it CJ.

Another side to Disturbed ... "Don't Tell Me," from their album Divisive that dropped a few months ago. It's a bit of a power ballad, but it's a duet with David and Ann Wilson from Heart. I mean ... their voices together are freakin' epic! She's in her early 70s, so her voice has obviously changed from her days as a young rocker, but OMG, is it special! So rich and inviting, but in keeping with her rock goddess status. Love it!

Paul Simon wrote some great songs full of poetry and meaning. But the best versions of his songs are done by other singers. Bob Dylan’s cover of “The Boxer”, and David Draiman of Disturbed’s cover of “The Sound of Silence”, come to mind. The grit, emotion, and meaning of Simon’s lyrics were always present in his songs, but not best conveyed by Simon and Garfunkel’s voicals.

I do not call this a cover song. It is an experience and stands on its own merit. Still giving kudos to Paul Simon but Cover or not. Does t matter i. It is its own power and emotion. If you don't get chills, or emotional or tears then there is something seriously wrong with you.
I so want to go to a concert or comedy show and see you interrupt the live band or comedian to pause constantly so you can tell everyone around us what your opinions are DURING the show rather than wait and after enjoying the actual experience in full and reacting to it properly and then giving thoughts in parking lot (ie at the end when you can reply or jump to spots that impressed you). Do not fret 99.999999% of the so called REACTION videos do the same thing, which is a total lie because its an analysis video, to properly react it has to be uninterrupted and fresh. He actually had the flu when he did this. He was upset when he needed auto tune at one part. Absolutely amazing.
David Draiman was classically trained as a cantor... Once you know that.. You can really pick it up in the absolute control he has over his voice.
