That's the best cover hands down but Johnny Cash's cover of 'Hurt' is a close second. It is so good Trent Reznor the original singer/song writer admitted it was better. Well worth checking out if you get time. And I've watched literally hundreds of people reacting to Ren and you are my absolutely my favorite. What a gift you are. ♥
Trent said it's not his song any more after Cash's version. Trent said it's now Cash's song! I thought that was fabulous, as is the cover. Considering what it was wrote about and then the way the Johnny Cash version is done, giving it a whole new meaning.

Me too I just found this video by accident like Dec 18th 2024 or the 17th I am obsessed it speaks to my soul in a profound way I always cried at the original but this one truly makes me want to kneel on the ground and pray to God and cry.
Absolutely NO AUTO TUNE!!! Poor guy was really sick at time. If you listen for it, you can hear some congestion during the performance, but he STILL killed it. Amazing guy and singer ❤
@@ReactADHD This is correct. Unbeknownst to him, as you said, they added a little auto-tune which he wasn't happy about. Done by the Conan sound team, not his guys. The amt. used was so little though, thankfully.
Yes, he found out about it and was proper angry! David was sick with the flu and had a fever of 102°F but he would NOT cancel his performance.. he is an amazing talent! I love your reaction to the videos, and, as of today, you have a new subscriber!!! 😊❤ Big ol hugs and love from MamaJane in South Carolina USA 🇺🇸
I read a comment on another site where this woman's uncle passed away, and he was a huge fan of Disturbed. They played this song at his funeral with David Draiman singing. It is beautiful! Just don't feel you're being morbid, I don't plan on having a funeral, obit or anything, but if this song was playing, I just may think twice about attending my own ceremony!
I saw them live 2 years ago and when David started singing this, the audience were crying and singing along. Of course I wept too. He sang it Metal mode lol. Beautiful show. Great reaction ❤❤
I discovered this song TODAY! yours is the 5th reaction video but the most VISCERAL and i too decided i want this song played at my funeral! The way you react is fabulous! Like his vocals were assualting you in the best possible way in the music video...both performances are awesome...what a talent....i think this cover is even better than the original...the emotion, the voice, the video, the performance..WOW WOW WOW!
I'm not really a fan of Disturbed, but this is one of the best covers i've ever heard and have watched and listened to both versions hundreds of times at this point. Your react when he goes off toward the end was so great, subscribed to your channel today. Keep the vids coming, i'll keep watching.
Thank you so much for subscribing! I'm thrilled to hear that my reaction resonated with you. Your support means a lot, and I can’t wait to share more videos with you!
Thank You for an amazing reaction! Disturbed's version and the imagery on the video brings the song home. It is a powerful experience to watch and listen to it; as well as interpret it to modern times. It's really frigging awesome!
I have no words to describe how this man makes me feel while he’s singing and the visuals are out of this world. My son is a massive fan of disturbed and i never really got it untill now, what a voice and i told my son the exact thing you just said- I want this version of the song played at my funeral ❤️
Lol, this is great. I'm loving watching your reaction to this. It had the same affect on me, it completely blew me away and became my #1 song. It's like it's not even the same song that Simon and Garfunkel wrote and sang. This version has the true emotions boiling over in it. I now have the utmost respect for Disturbed and the lead singer. Their cover of a much loved song for so many years was done with so much class and respect that even Paul Simon complimented them on it. Amazing and beautiful.
Simon Garfunkel told David Draiman from Disturbed that this was his song now just like Bob Dylan told Jimi Hendrix that All Along The Watchtower was his song after the cover he did
I first heard this driving a lorry through the centre of Bath and it effected me that much I nearly rear ended a bus! Had to pull over and take a breath and listened to it in repeat the rest of my shift
Oh my. Both versions. What an unexpected treat! Thank you!! I get a gut punch reaction every time I play this on my playlist. I think it's an empathy meter.
You, my friend, get it! Those words have always been so powerful to me. Now the voice matches. Don’t get me wrong, I was front row center in 1969 for the S&G concert. They have my heart and soul.
He was sick with a 102° F temp during this performance. He hates this version because of the auto tune. Also why he was sitting. Thank you for doing both versions in one, loved your reactions
David was terribly sick that night, thus the reason he is sitting. He told them NO autotune but they put it in anyway, worried he may not be able to hit or hold the notes because of how ill he was. He was FURIOUS when he realized what they had done.
I loved the live version, BUT I feel the graphically produced one is vital to intensify the meaning of the lyrics. I am so happy you showed both versions! I loved your reaction video. I was floored the first time and everytime watching and listening to his cover video. Amazing. ❤
You’re my new favorite find!! I absolutely LOVE that you did both versions. The way they took this song and just ATE it up!! It 100% is the BEST cover - ever! Cheers!!
That's what I thought! When I voted for the konan version and saw I was getting out voted, I thought ahh shame. Now having watched the reaction, I'm glad he did both versions.
IMO the video represents the ability of music, through musicians, to spread the message of the people, those that aren't listened to, to the masses in hope of spreading a hope or dream & to those that do have a voice or power to influence change. The original WAS a warning of disconnecting from each other & the need to connect while this version is a wake up shout (as you said) in anger that we have not listened to that (now) 60 year old warning & are now more disconnected than we have ever been & becoming even more disconnected while we ironically have the ability to be so much more connected so easily.

Great reaction!!! It's one of my picks for my cremation party!!! It has the history of Simon and Garfunkel but David made it his own with this version. I absolutely relate to darkness being my friend. And wandering streets as if in a dream and feeling so alone!
wanna really blow your mind, find David's a capella version of sound of silence. that one really gets me every time. ths really is the best cover of any song ever.

@ your gonna like that one like this disturbed one I think. I’m a veteran myself and this song crushes me. Such a beautiful message to the song and an incredible story told in the background with the video.
I love Simon and Garfunkel! Art has the most angelic voice and I love the original! However I think I love this more! His voice is amazing and I only heard of Disturbed about 18 months ago when I saw someone react to it! I was gobsmacked! I am old and I grew up on Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Heart etc… Something I would love to see you react to was a collaboration between Disturbed and Ann Wilson of Heart called “Don’t Tell Me” the video came out about 9-10 months ago and it is amazing! I think she was 72 or 73 at the time and she still sounds great! Loving your reactions! ❤️🔥✌🏻🫶🏻
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts! It's amazing to connect with someone who appreciates both the classics and the new interpretations. I’ll definitely look into that Disturbed and Ann Wilson collaboration-your enthusiasm is contagious!
THIS is Goosebumps Music. David Draiman is a classically trained singer, he is capable of much more that just raspy heavy metal. And we can hear it here, it is so beautiful and haunting. When Paul Simon watched that live version in the Conan Show, he really loved it. 150 M views ! One comment reads: "One of the best live performances ever in TV history." Well, imo actually one of the BEST covers of ANY song EVER.
Your reaction was amazing! I felt your energy, and I felt like I just left the gym!🤣😂🤣😆 Great reaction! S&G's version was a warning that we are growing apart due, in part, to technology and that we need to learn to communicate our feelings and stop relying on material things to appease us. Wake up! Disturb's version is basically rage that we didn’t heed the warning in the 60's and now, 60 years later, we are even more attached to our "neon gods" internet, texts, emails, buried in our cell phones and communicate even more poorly than during the 60's with the civil unrest and the Vietnam war. Television, back then, was the 'neon god' that everyone paid attention to and paid less attention to humanity😢. We just don't get it! I'm 63 and, admittedly, never realized the meaning of the song, but David's delivery of the message really drove it home! I get it and I hope we all can wake up in time! Feelings and emotions are conveyed through music. In the video, the musicians on the left bring their instruments across the channel to the people with the sheet music on the right. A nice metaphor for the message that S&G were trying to convey. In the video, we don't see the boat meet up with the musicians, but, maybe, someday we will!😢 Thank you for sharing your reaction😊❤!
I truly appreciate your kind words! It’s great to know that the energy I felt resonated with you and sparked such deep reflections on the song's meaning.
