Even after all these years…every DJ at a Country bar or concert knows that they can play this song and get the whole crowd going…many bands do covers of it during their show sets…everyone knows the words.
This band has a good number of happy feeling songs. A couple more of their songs I'm pretty sure you would like are "Mister Bojangles ' and "Dance Little Jean". (BTW, your microphone setting seems to be a bit better today.)
Great song that I think every country music lover knows all the words too..Played by a band or DJ in every bar around..Please check out their version of the song Mr. Bojangles..
Craig, awesome reaction. Home Free does a mash of of this song Fishin In the Dark and Boondocks, you should check it out, they did as usual amazing. Both songs on their own are great. Thank you as always for your reaction.
This is country gold. I don’t think there’s ever been another song referenced as much in other music. Just start listening for the “fishin’ in the dark” lyric. And we all know it’s because it’s not ‘fishin’ they’re talking about! You’ll be surprised. 😊♥️
I grew up a Dirt Band fan. One of their more known and often covered songs is The Broken Road (which was done by The Rascal Flatts). If you see the video from Home Free's version of it, they do some visual nods to the Dirt Band album covers.
This is the version that we're all referring to in the comments. LEGENDS!!! [ HiFi ] Will The Circle Be Unbroken Vol.2/Nitty Gritty Dirt Band/Johnny Cash/Ricky Skaggs
Two-Stepping, line dancing and so many memories of a bar called Cadillac Jacks associated with this song and yes late 80”s so many good songs by the NGDB - Partners, Brothers and Friends, Dance Little Jean, Sharecroppers Dream, Face on the Cutting Room Floor, and of course Mr. Bojangles ! Enjoy!
A great live version of the song. Loved a lot of their songs. Home Free did a very good cover mashup of FISHING IN THE DARK/ BOONDOCKS you should check it out sometime. Great reaction and you have blessed day.
often referred to as The Dirt Band. Jimmy Ibbotson (IbbY) is a great vocalist in his style and a great songwriter. He lived in a community near John Denver in Colorado and the band and John were friends. They had such a unique sound but Ibby left the group a few years back and they will never be the same. All of them in their 70's now. Here is John Denver singing one of Ibby's songs John Denver Ripplin Watters (Ibbotson) ruclips.net/video/je1_8tTjPK0/видео.html
Fantastic performance. This has a similar theme as "Picking Wildflowers", though more subtle. But even "Picking Wildflowers" is subtle compared to the explicit lyrics that make it so obvious, even young children could figure out what they are talking about.
You are right, sir. This is THE iconic NGDB song. Still played on country radio very, very frequently. I was lucky enough to see these guys in concert in the mid 80s and they were fsntastic. I don't think there are any bad NGDB songs. I would echo the requests for Will The Circle Be Unbroken (watch the video with all of the country stars in it), but my 2 personal favorites of them are Dance Little Jean and Long Hard Road.
Oh my, I haven't heard this band in so long! Such a great song! Cadillac Ranch Will the Circle Be Unbroken Battle of New Orleans are good next choices.
Used to spend many an hour fishin' in the dark back in my younger days. Now I'm too dang old and mosquitoes like me wayyyyyy too much!!!!!!! Hey, got a suggestion for ya.... Little Big Town's song "Boondocks"
Look closely and you will see Bernie Leadon on guitar. NGDB made the Southern California Rock/Country sound and have never been recognized for it. So many great albums and artists who have been a part of their legacy. Will The Circle Be Unbroken, any album , (Two is my personal favorite) Easily my favorite band!
This is an early, edgier version I've not heard before, Thanks!!! This is a great band with way too many awesome hits to mention. Love the Circle albums, and many live show videos are out there. Catfish John is so pleasant with Alison K joining in. The live versions of Partners, Brothers, Friends make it clear how many decades this band played together!!! Note: the volume of your comments are getting pretty low, compared to the music...
it's true ... past couple weeks ... the video volume is good but when U stop to give your analysis the volume drops to just barely audible - but when you go back to the video the volume resumes to normal level ! ... but keep up the good work, I'm sure that it will work out ! 🙂
NGDB's "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" has almost every country legend in it...hard to beat that!
"Will the Circle Be Unbroken" by these guys is SPECIAL! Soooo many country legends sing with them. You would love it! 💗💗💗💗💗
Which one? Was it live?
Even after all these years…every DJ at a Country bar or concert knows that they can play this song and get the whole crowd going…many bands do covers of it during their show sets…everyone knows the words.
Love that band back in the day.. we call it Hillbilly Rock
One of the most underrated bands in my honest opinion.
Love NGDB. ❤

I seen these guys in concert probably 10 years ago. They were alot older still a great song.
Craig, awesome reaction. Home Free does a mash of of this song Fishin In the Dark and Boondocks, you should check it out, they did as usual amazing. Both songs on their own are great. Thank you as always for your reaction.
Such a great song! It brings me back to the early 90’s, me and my boyfriend driving on back country roads, windows down, singing. Great times!!
So glad you reacted to the nitty gritty dirt band. One of my favorites. Another of their hits is it's a long hard road.

I have never heard this live version before. It was super fun!
One of my daughters favorite songs. Brings a smile to my heart each time I hear it.
It's a walk down memory lane again!

Love this song! I sing along every time I hear it and really loud on the chorus’🎉❤😊
Thanks so much for this! I forgot how much I loved this song as it Brough back so many memories!
This is the version that we're all referring to in the comments. LEGENDS!!!

I love this! NGDB has always been great at evoking emotion, happy, sad or anything in between!

I’ll back up a request for “Dance Little Jean” and “Long Hard Road”.
Nice reaction - to the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band iconic song.
Another good one.❤
Oh my, I haven't heard this band in so long!
Such a great song!
Cadillac Ranch
Will the Circle Be Unbroken
Battle of New Orleans are good next choices.
I agree on all three!!
I'm only 27 and it's funny how old i feel since i grew up with this song i love this song so much
Glad you listened to fishin in the dark. Have played it many nights fishing on the river
Loved it!
It always blows me away that the drummer can play the harmonica at the same time.
The lead singer did a song with Linda Ronstadt also. It’s really catchy and their harmonies are great!
His name is Jeff Hannah.
In the bars on broadway in Nashville i used to hear this song all the time. Great memories.
I can remember exactly where i was the first time I ever heard this song
your next one should be "Dance Little Jean"
My favorite of their songs is "Catfish John" with Alison Krauss. Their harmonies are absolutely amazing! Great story song too!💗💗💗
I remember this as a kid in the 70s and 80s I’ve had no idea what they looked like. Pictured a band like Alabama
Never heard a live version of this. I like the arpeggios.
One of my favorite by Nitty Gritty Dirt Band is Mr. Bojangles, if you have not already heard it.
Used to spend many an hour fishin' in the dark back in my younger days. Now I'm too dang old and mosquitoes like me wayyyyyy too much!!!!!!! Hey, got a suggestion for ya.... Little Big Town's song "Boondocks"

Easily my favorite band!
My childhood ❤❤
I seen this band live couple years ago they were awesome
I like The House at Pooh Corner
You have to do Dumas Walker by the Kentucky Headhunters
Yes!
Been a minute since i heard this one!
I think this the same dropped note that Guitar Town is played in. Just guessing.

Modern day Romance is a good one to check out if you haven’t already
Home Free does a version mashed with in the Boondocks
Liked VERY much that you waited until the song was over before you talked to begin talking...impressive sir!
Another fun song is Trashy Women by Confederate Railroad
Billy Currington - Good Directions is a good Country song.
Please listen to Home Free’s version of this. It’s epic!! Lol❤️🐝🤗
Your volume was not working while you were talking it was working for the band playing but not while you were talking
it's true ... past couple weeks ... the video volume is good but when U stop to give your analysis the volume drops to just barely audible - but when you go back to the video the volume resumes to normal level ! ... but keep up the good work, I'm sure that it will work out ! 🙂
They didn't do the ending of the song, like it was recorded in the studio, which is unfortunate.
