My brother died about 6 months ago in a sprint car racing accident. He was blowing up the tires before his race and one exploded and crushed the whole left side of his head. This was his favorite song on the entire planet. And it will forever be the song that reminds me of him

I'm Denver born and raised, and the Dirt Band was quite highly thought of around here back in the day. One of the very first concerts I ever saw was when they played the field house of the local college. Fun show. Perhaps my biggest memory of that night was how often everyone in the band would just switch instruments and they'd all play something else every few songs. LOTS of talent there.

I love all the music by Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. Each band member adds something special, but I could listen to Jimmy Ibbotson sing all day. He makes you want to jump up and sing along!

BIG shout out to James Arvey Ibbotson for going from a teenage session drummer to a hit writing and producer, multi instrument playing expert, and remaining grounded to his 70's. Ibby you were and still are one of the best.

Lazy yellow moon comin' up tonite,
    shinin' thru the trees,
Crickets are singin' and lightning bugs
    are floatin on the breeze
    Baby get ready.....
Across the field where the creek turns back by the ole stone road
I'm gonna take you to a special place that nobody knows
    Baby get ready.....OooooooOooo
You and me going fishing in the dark,
Lying on our backs and counting the stars
    Where the cool grass grows.
Down by the river in the full moon light,
We'll be fallin' in love in the middle of the night
    Just movin' slow...
Stayin' the whole night thru, feels so good to be with you...
Spring is almost over and the summer's comin'
    the days are gettin' long
Waited all winter for the time to be right, just to take you along
    Baby get ready.....
And it don't matter if we sit forever and the fish don't bite
Jump in the river and cool ourselves from the heat of the night
    Baby get ready.....OoooooooOoo
    [Repeat the CHORUS (x3)]
You and me going fishin in the dark!

When NGDB played the Royal Gorge in 2016, my wife didn't realize it was almost a quarter mile long bridge. It's almost a 1000 foot tall. We got over easy in the light. It was different in the dark later that night. The band was Great. The show lights and the Colorado sunset was beautiful. Great Margaritas. Good times.

I always think of when me and my sister played Power Rangers Dino Thunder for the GameCube while listening to music our parents had. We just could not stop laughing when we realized the T-rex character walked perfectly in sync with the song.
Still brings a smile ear to ear when I hear it.
