I have an MS 70 1950 D nickel graded by the notorious SGS, paid $3 for it. It is really a polished XF-AU coin. I used it while teaching about coin cleaning/overgrading when I taught a Boy Scout coin collecting class.
Thank you, Daniel !!!! I was surfing through some of your old videos about Mercury Dimes, and it spurred me to search my 1942 D's . Guess what??? I found a 42/41 D !!!! Thanks again ❤
I just bought one from the coin show here in salt lake at a mint State 67 but It didn't get the full steps designation but it has some cool ass toning and I wanted a awesome condition one anyways for a low mintage!
I'm a collector, not a dealer. I've been collecting coins since I was 9 years old and I think I have already stated my opinion of PCGS and the other grading services on this thread. Daniel does a great job of explaining a great deal of what goes into valuing coins but the reality remains that these grading services are calling the tune.
I'm glad you mentioned about the full step proof. Because I see a lot of people on whatnot trying to sell proof (full step or full bell line Franklin's) they do not put those designations on proof coins.
It was my high school pursuit, pulling circ Jeffs out of pocket change; could build virtually the whole set. Some dates would not be seen; 50D was widely hoarded and not many got into circulation; never got the 38D 38S 39D 39S. The wartime silver nickels floated around, not common but not rare either. The 1964 and 1964D billions minted, I just wanted a couple of MS65 examples to preserve, I guess can be had for 10-15 bucks these days.
Being that there has never been a 70, getting that first one to actually get the grade is gonna be extra hard to do. That coin is going to be so closely inspected repeatedly that it’s gonna have to be truly absolutely perfect in every way.
Daniel, i really like your videos. You point out the detail about the coins. I am fairly new at collecting as i started in 2016. What got me started was me finding a valuable 2009-P penny in a hotel packing lot. I bought two boxes of the 2009 P pennies and found an abundance of varieties. You detailing the errors on the coins is what i need to know. Thanks!!!
I searched 4 boxes of new 2022P many looked super nice, even almost mirror, but ALL had one kind of mark or another. These coins are unforgiving when they knock around in the bags. Then go through the roller machine. It's a power ball for sure!
I’ve been holding onto a 1948 P Nickel that weighs 4.66 Grams for 40 yrs. It is time to send it in and see if it’s a wrong planchet or possibly struck on a Silver one. Never seen one like it in any Video , even yours ! You are MS-70 at what you do. Never surrender , never quit. So 😅 I can comment again with my new phone. Thankyou Daniel
Dear sir , I don't trust anything( most) anything accept your sites. Finally hooked up to community & posted some pictures of a nickle I have. Hope it posted. Thanks for doing what you do.😊
I love my Nickels and my grandmother got me started when I was 8 or 7 years old. Buffalo and Jefferson are my favorite along with quater and half dollar.
Thanks Daniel. Ive always liked the Jefferson nickels. I dont know why, I just do. I dont like V nickels. Weird I guess. Jefferson nickels are fun to go through.
Daniel I always look for fs on nickels. One time a saw 1987-D with FS in bu condition. I sent it to Anacs. It came back ms67 fs. Unfortunately it is in a Anacs holder. If in a PCGS it would be 2000k +
Thank you for this video. I love older Jeffersons. I have two 1943 double eye and one 39 DDR. Not mint state of course. The one double eye is very nice close to AU. And the 1943/2. I just had to have the main ones in my collection 😎👍 Edit* how come the page you're looking at doesn't have 1943?
I wonder how Coin Graders do their job at places like PCGS or NGC? Do they have a scanner that scans the coins and they compare the coin to what's on file to determine the correct grade? I'm assuming a MS-70 will be perfect. No imperfections anywhere.
I feel the only coin that has not been treated fairly is the nickel. They added full step designation, which is damn near impossible to to find. All the nickels I have found that are older the steps look like a raised blob. So to find full steps not likely in rolls.
I have 3 of the 1939 Nickels I received each in change 30 plus years ago. One is AU to MS and has full steps but their is a ding or another coin hit those steps. This one is also a DDR. Monticello is easily double as is Five Cents.
@@Americancoins well, Greysheet has it at 19K. PCGS has it at $40K. Only has a population of 6 in all grades between both grading companies. Very rare in FS.
I searched a whole box of 2023 nickels to only find a handful that were grade worthy. They graded out at MS66FS but even at that, just sold one at GC for $6. ☹️
Off topic sort of but I just snagged another 1983 P Washington from the cash register at work yesterday...I believe it's the spitting eagle. 😊 Makes like 8 of em I've found since 2017
Who ever gets a ms 70 on any year will be big news for sure. But its so hard toofind one. waiting for a 68-69 greade on a 62-63 jefferson nickle very hard in those year's
good day. have some full steps nickel from 1988 to 2003. also from AU to MS. unfortunately is I'm from the Philippines. so many processes to comply. I dont know...
Great video! I have some high grade Mercury Dimes 68 FB's that are valued over $5,000. Wish there was a bigger market for the Mercury Dimes! I would be willing to sell at a fair price if interested... Thank for all of your Great knowledge!! Coin Collecting has always been my passion.

Congrats!
I found an AU 1950-D in a poker game with friends back in the 80's. . . After I won the hand I told everyone what it was worth
Awesome find!
Nice,

I like your honesty. It's good to know that there are still some good people left in the world

ALL of your videos are SO RELEVANT to each other!! I LOVE IT!!😂❤🎉💯
Love your videos and the education is unmatched. Heading in to see you today Daniel.

I thought this was going to be about finding a 46 on a wartime planchet... but I'll concede that a 70 is more difficult
True
T.Y. DANIEL ALWAYS REAL GOOD INFO VERY GOOD PRESENTATION
Just picked up $20 in rolls to go through. Target your list like Daniel says. Great info!
Hey it’s coinlicious was waiting for this video nickels are my fav lol
Always a pleasure !
Nickel planchets are hard as hell. It’s hard to strike one completely in one strike.
Thank you Daniel some great info!
Hey Daniel, thanks for the info, I loved the class! Tony
Awesome video... Thank you!!!
I love my Nickels and my grandmother got me started when I was 8 or 7 years old. Buffalo and Jefferson are my favorite along with quater and half dollar.
Morning my friend!!!!!
Great information 👍

Yes, but as the years move on, the grades will become much less difficult.
I am not sure how they do, it's pretty secretive. They tell us they grade by committee but they don't give any other details.
I was inspired to get a roll of 1958P BU and found several Full Steps examples…..and way more than that that were one small gash from getting it.
Full steps on Lincoln Cents don't mean anything, that's for nickels only.
Agian thank you for the info .
Daniel does PCGS do attribution on a new discovery coin even if the variety is not on the variety list?
Nope
@ so how do you send your new discovery coin?
Nickel I would like to find is a high grade war nickel full steps would be a plus
Yes, it would.
I feel the only coin that has not been treated fairly is the nickel. They added full step designation, which is damn near impossible to to find. All the nickels I have found that are older the steps look like a raised blob. So to find full steps not likely in rolls.
Hi, I have a 1973 and 1978 nickels. What would be the value of my items. Thank you for your help.
I have 3 of the 1939 Nickels I received each in change 30 plus years ago. One is AU to MS and has full steps but their is a ding or another coin hit those steps. This one is also a DDR. Monticello is easily double as is Five Cents.
What are those black nickels were? I’ve got a few of those.
Hey Daniel, I've not ever seen even 1 1960D nickel in any grade with FS. I don't believe one has ever been found/ graded.
Good morning Daniel!
I own a NGC 1965 MS66 5FS.
WOW how much is it worth?
@@Americancoins well, Greysheet has it at 19K. PCGS has it at $40K. Only has a population of 6 in all grades between both grading companies. Very rare in FS.
Dan , Jefferson has acne , lol great video . Liked and shared . Always good to Learn something New :) QC
daniel i didn't see the 1971S nickel just 1971P and 1971D can you tell anything about that nice video

I have one, only one 1940 nickel, I'm gonna dig in to see if I can find it ,I have too many, but the last time I saw it,it looked nice.
Are there actual those who will pay for a lower grade common coin with FS ?
Hello Daniel
Morning all, what is anyone’s opinion on the ice test for silver? Has anyone tried it?
Very hard to find full steps from 38 thru 70's cause i have them i enjoy roll hunting nickles
And that is why they're worth as much as they are.
I have to say it is pretty difficult to find true cameo proof nickels from the 1950's, rather difficult
Yes, but the focus here is business strike coins that everyone can afford to search.
good day. have some full steps nickel from 1988 to 2003. also from AU to MS. unfortunately is I'm from the Philippines. so many processes to comply. I dont know...
Member of " Full Step Club " from early 70's.
I'm thinking about sending off some great coins
Great video! I have some high grade Mercury Dimes 68 FB's that are valued over $5,000. Wish there was a bigger market for the Mercury Dimes! I would be willing to sell at a fair price if interested... Thank for all of your Great knowledge!! Coin Collecting has always been my passion.
Not unless they're graded by PCGS
@ They are NGC
I recommend auctioning those at Stacks.
I have a 59 with full steps that has a dark tone to it I believe it’s called a black beauty.
I have 1943 D ms66 5fs ngc slab
1960-D Full Step any grade, that would be $$$$$$$$$$$$$$. None found yet.
I also have a 1944 big P mint mark
Grading is very expensive, extremely subjective, and you will be bitterly disappointed by the grade you receive
Unicorn. ❤❤
The person that finds one will be one of the big customers for PCGS. It won't be from us small guys.
Only because they send more coins than most and by sheer math they eventually get the grade, not because they spend more money.
My nickles collections
1940 d .1949. 1953. 1954. 1963 d 1965 d. 1966.67.68.69.72.73.76.78.79.80.81.83.85.88.1999 p. Fullsteps. I have many old nickles.😊
I’ve got to two rolls of 1968 that’s never been. I don’t know what you look like I’ve had them for I guess 40 years I’ve never broken 1968.
I have a 1940 nickles it's in ok condition.
I've got a 38D and a 50D with steps that are really nice to have in my set
Daniel, I have a $100 series 2017A
Serial PF60603939E.
Who do you recommend I should talk to?
I don’t even know what that means. I don’t mess with modern notes.
🟢 good morning from ALABAMA this morning enjoy your show each morning
