Remembering yourself is a strange way to put it. Isn't it all about being conscious of one's thoughts, actions, and emotions in the present moment?
Most of us would say that they already are conscious of all this, or would admit that they are not, Or get angry.
All answers are rooted in the same delusion, that we Know something. Our perceptions are divided by the "I" thought we have created throughout time. This "I" thought sustains the "machine", it gives fuel to the primal urges. Once there's understanding of this, perhaps there's much more emphasis on awareness in one's life, as it is seen that this machine works in a very subtle way, subconsciously.
Is this pretty much Gurdjieff's "philosophy"?

In Search of The Miraculous- by Peter D Ouspensky- the best first hand account of Gurdjieffs ideas on alchemy cosmology life and everything -of all the fourth way literature this work still retains a mysterious magic that can shift consciousness on reading- this was published in 1950s so many ideas may seem clunky through the modern new age lense- I read it in my early teens some 30 years ago and it had a profound influence on my ideas- for good or for bad I sometimes wonder- enjoy the journey😂
