I don't see Gamecube games coming, I think they are holding them back for when they need them. The Switch doesn't "need" them.
But I would love to see more Starfox, mainly so we can finally get Peppy and Slippy amiibo
True - maybe they'll consider GC for the next system! And definitely need more Star Fox!
I hardly doubt we will get gamecube games, I would be surprised. I feel we may get some more ports from 3DS/Wii to fill some of the gaps. I would love a Mario game to co alongside the movie that would be great with some voice acting! I would like to see a Punchout game to come for the 40th Anniversary could use the Leg Strap/Ring Con as well as Joy Cons. this could be fun, also use a VR mode. so much they could do for that to revive/revamp the game. COME ON NINTENDO.
GC would be a nice bonus! I don't think it would be NSO - but more like one-offs or compilations maybe (like Mario Sunshine with the All Stars)
Mario game with the movie would be amazing and would feel totally fresh, too!
Punch-out would be sweet haha, let's rumble online! Definitely need more use out of these peripherals!

Recent financial results or performance don’t have an immediate impact on the decision to launch new hardware within a year. Hardware takes several years to develop, as proven by the firmware data mines revealing the lite and OLED models at least a year in advance.
And no company looks at the results of their sixth year a console before deciding to release the next thing. Software can work on that timeline and can be pushed up (XBC3) or back (Zelda) to be positioned along new HW. But HW is more like a train; once it gets started, there’s nothing you can do to outright stop it. Sure you might be able to delay it six months at most, but anything being that and you’ll lose your spot in the manufacturing line.
These spots have to be secured years in advance due to competition with other gaming non-gaming companies: cars, appliances, phones, etc. When you lose your spot, you can’t just hold it for however long you like. Instead, you have to get in the back of the queue, like the car companies did during the pandemic, which caused the car shortages (which the effects of can still be felt to this day).
We know they started work on the Switch 2 in late 2020, likely after the pandemic caused them to cancel any “Pro” system plans. This is due to an Nvidia hack a year ago indicating work had begun as far back as late 2019, following the lite release. Dev kits have been with third parties for about 2 years now which is the standard time for pre-release cycles. So although a Zelda launch is looking unlikely at the moment, a holiday 2023 launch is still very much in the cards.
Now the console could still launch 2024. But my main point is that recent, short term sales performance (which although is great, has been declining since 2029 YOY) won’t be and has never been the sole reason for determining a console launch date.
That being said, I agree with all your other predictions and am looking forward to the year! You’ve got a unique positive vibe and your video was well articulated. Great stuff.
That's true that it's been in development for some time - I wonder if we'd get a glimpse this year (maybe even just a name), but I just can't imagine a release in 2023, though! Thanks for the awesome comment :)
