bro that game was oddly addicting! It was so stinkin simple, yet still had a modicum of strategy to it where you were excited about what might happen after every move! I miss that game... lol
My biggest complaint about the switch. This is mostly due to it being somewhere between a handheld and a console… Games planning to release on multiple consoles including The switch have to heavily throttle their game in order for the game to run on the switch. As example the game developers for monster hunter rise have said that the switch placed a hard limit on what they could do. I love monster hunter and monster hunter and it breaks my heart to think what the game could have been if the switch never existed.
Games like splatoon and fortnite utilize the motion control mechanic, so those controls aren’t out of the picture, but the other 4 controls are a different story
Did you know that the home button on the right JoyCon has an LED behind it? Perfectly missed opportunity. Also #TheSwitchisAPerfectlyReasonableSizeAndIHaveNoRightTooComplain
Paywalling save-game backups is nothing short of unacceptable. Especially since the hardware already has expandable onboard storage. Preventing saves on the SD card is the worst kind of cash-grabbing bullshit. If my switch ever dies and I lose all my games, I'll never buy another bit of Nintendo hardware or software again.
My main issue with the switch, (dunno if newer models fixes it) is the docking station. On random occasions you'll dock the switch and you'll get no sounds going to the tv. The switch easily overheats after a short while making you wonder why the docking station didn't have a cooling system or another way to hold the switch so the accumulated heat isn't trapped inside a switch-sized slot.
Sounds like you have a defect one, i've never had issues like this. And i've played games for 24h+ with no break. The sound issue can also be cable issue. Overheating could be cause of location you have it, or the vent/heatsinks is full of dust. the heat also get pushed upwards from the switch. So if you have one that get heat stuck down in the dock i would be worried about the dock/switch.
This was a very well done video. I had a blast watching this and Great job on the video editing. The editing on this video just flowed so well along side with the story telling.
Totally agree about the ickiness of Nintendo Online. I bought that dance game just to find the content was locked between an additional, subscription based, paywall. Totally feel scammed I’m on team, the switch is too big. Finally bought myself a new 3DS, because that’s what I want in a portable console. A huge game library that I can fit in my pocket plus the ability to play older Console games helps. When I’m sitting on a subway, or an airplane, I don’t wanna be digging through my bag opening up cases and watching about dropping things on the ground. I want something I can pull right out of my pocket and put right back into my pocket quickly when things start getting crowded or moving.
What ever the new consul looks like I hope they use the same cards for the Nintendo switch so that we can just put in our Nintendo switch games into it.
the part that you said I might disagree was the only part I did agree in this video, the HD Rumble is used more often than you think, maybe you could of mentioned the home button that has a light behind it. Also, it would be cool if the switch light had the 3ds circle pads so you would have to worry about stick drift when putting it in your bag without a case.
The increased fragility of the switch compared to their prior handhelds is so irritating to me. I still regularly play on my 3ds, 90% of the time it’s somewhere on my person (either a pocket or my bag) and I don’t worry about its safety in the slightest. 2 days ago I dropped it 9 feet onto hardwood and there wasn’t even a scratch. Meanwhile, I feel like a 2 foot drop onto cushions could spell the end for my switch. I never carry it outside of its case and yet I still feel it could break. I wish tech companies would work on making each generation of products more durable instead of the current trend of fragility tbh
The lack of personality and customizability is the worst thing that ever happened to the Switch. All it's got is funny lock screen noises and the click/switch noise when you slide a joycon in. I'm pretty sure the only reason they abandoned stuff like Miiverse and Streetpass is because it relied heavily on Miis, which Nintendo wants to forget about for some reason.
The thing about the size of the switch is that yes it is bigger then you would really want for a portable device but at the same time I don't do sit on my TV so I really wouldn't want it to be smaller because then it wouldn't look as good when playing the game so it's kind of one of those weird types of situations
7:12 This does not qualify as a "missed opportunity". The size range of a portable console is a slider of trade-offs; if it was smaller, other things would have to be sacrificed like, obviously, screen size, and potentially performance, plus the removable controller aspect would be more awkward. I specifically _like_ that it's bigger than most handheld consoles as it's the first portable console I don't find highly uncomfortable to play. This topic irritates me as people who either complain about the performance or say it's too big as a portable console seem to be forgetting that there are conflicting factors you have to balance when making a portable home console. They complain about performance by comparing it to play stations or xboxes, which are on average 33% more expensive and 5 times the size, then people complain about it being too big. Then people talk about the Steam deck, as if something almost twice as big (and more expensive!) is a fair comparison.
The switch is small enough to be honest, especially the joycons. Do you not realise how tiny the controllers would become if you made the console smaller? I'm sorry but the days of game consoles in your pocket are over, so I'm all for a bigger switch like steam deck sized. Don't get me wrong though, I want portable game consoles to stick around. Team #SwitchTooSmall btw
The reason why so much of the community engagement was excluded was likely a combination of them wanting to play it safe with the new console and appeal more to teens. I feel like the switch was a great was for Nintendo to regain their footing before they tried anything super ambitious besides the dual controller and hardware stuff.
You can actually change your background to white to black. And plus it’s still a game that you can put it on your tv and take it to go, and plus at least you can still make a mii. So I’m still happy that I got a Nintendo switch.
Nintendo Online isn’t that useful for single player games, however I have Animal Crossing (New Horizons) and it is the only way to visit other’s islands without them being in the same room as you. Also, the smartphone app lets me type what I want to say in the chat feature from my phone without having to use the in-game keyboard, which as you can imagine is difficult and slow when I have it put on my TV. Only bad thing about it is that it’s not free but it’s not a must-have for most people.
The HD rumble is actually p well utilized, Mario Odyssey and Splatoon for example use it really well and it's very satisfying to feel the little things in game, it's a shame a lot of Nintendo games forget to use it at all for no reason
Actually, split joycons to get 2 controllers is one of the most amazing things the switch propose. Play with family and friends is amazing (if you have them).
Feel like I have to run down the list, here. Joycon: I think the biggest missed opportunity here is stripping out pretty much every one of these features so the Joycon could not only be cheaper, but higher quality. HD rumble, while neat, is generally terrible. Incredibly noisy, uncomfortable in the hands, and not as satisfying as traditional rumble. IR camera was, as mentioned, only useful for Labo, which I'd be fine with not existing if it meant removing the IR camera entirely. While I used to like collecting Amiibo, "support" (if you can even call it that) has always been so lackluster it might as well not be present. Plus, with the flooding the market of an onslaught of different types of Amiibo, while simultaneously never manufacturing anywhere near enough for the average person to buy (unless you wanted a Charizard or something), made me personally lose interest in them, so I'd be fine without NFC functionality. Motion controls for aiming is, generally, pretty overrated. Even with the tiny crappy sticks on the Joycon, I still don't know how anyone likes it on the Switch. Wii U had decent gyro, so I understand wanting it there, but on Switch it's pretty poor. I wouldn't be against keeping it in, since I know a lot of people like it for some strange reason, but if offered cheaper Joycon without it, I'd take 'em. As for sideways Joycon, being uncomfortable isn't the half of it. Have you ever actually tried using the Joycon as wireless controllers? They have a range of like 5 feet before they start dropping connection super frequently, and regularly fail to register inputs. Forget being uncomfortable, if you're not using it in tabletop mode, huddled around the screen (which I've never had an occasion where it was warranted), it's almost entirely unusable. Replace some of the useless features with whatever's needed to make wireless controls work, or don't have it as a feature. I've had to have plenty of Joycons thanks to them all crapping out on me sooner or later, but this has always been a consistent problem. Online: I'm not thrilled with any part of it, but I don't care a whole lot, since I rarely use online functionality in games, anyway. Occasionally, if a game comes out with an online feature I want to use, I might pay for it for a short time, but it's really just made me go from rarely using online, to only having used it a few times in the console's lifetime. I don't think it would've been any problem for them to provide it to players like me for free, but not only is it unreasonable to expect them to weigh an individual players gaming habits, but I think they know most people are just going to bite the bullet anyway and pay for it, even if they don't like it, so free money for Nintendo, I guess. Themes: What is there to be said about Switch UI? Short answer: it sucks. Long answer: it suuuuuuuuucks. Seriously though, I don't mind a sleek and clean design, but they REALLY dropped the ball here. Themes were great on 3DS (for the most part), and the Switch being the following act makes it feel very devoid of charm and personality. Game content: Frankly, there aren't many games on Switch that felt they were worth the asking price. I don't know if it's because of Iwata's passing resulting in new folks that just don't care, or if it's just a shift in tactics that was timed coincidentally to start around the time of projects from Iwata's era finishing releasing, but Nintendo has really half-assed most of the Switch library. Post-launch updates not only don't make a bad game good (frankly, a lot of the games that suffered from said update model are games that I'd be embarrassed to have my name tied to had I worked on them), but typically still result in a below average game. It's like the game releases 50% finished, has 30% added post launch, and the remainder is nowhere to be seen. Plus, I want a more-or-less complete game on my cartridge. Once the servers get taken down (which IS going to happen, sooner or later), I want to have a full version of the game. It's bad enough that DLC is a thing (I don't mind DLC, in fact, it's responsible for half of Mario Kart 8 on Wii U's tracks, I just want it available offline), but having a game chopped in half of physical release makes it feel like it's not even worth getting the games physically. Community: Never really used Miiverse, but I hear other people liked it. I guess having more collectables added to games in the form of stamps or whatever was kind of neat, but it's not something that really interested me, since I'm the kind of person that doesn't even have a FB/Twitter/Instagram/whatever account. Social media, generally speaking, doesn't interest me so Miiverse never caught my attention, nor did the Streetpass stuff on 3ds. In fact, with 3ds, lots of games seemed to tie mechanics into it, which when you live in a rural area where you're one of only a handful of people that are very tech literate, is just a pain in the ass. I'm happy for no more Streetpass making games worse, but it sounds like people enjoyed Miiverse, so it's kind of sad that it's gone. Portability: Honestly, don't care. I have enormous hands, so while its thin form factor makes it uncomfortable to hold, it's easier than things like the Vita. And worried about scratching the screen? Did you even own a 3ds? The raised ridges around the lower screen almost always put scratches and indentations in the top screen. It helps if it's a clamshell with raised edges around the outside, preventing anything on the inside from touching, but I've gotten fewer scratches on my Switch screen than any of my 3 3ds' that I've owned, and my Switch doesn't even have a screen protector or case. I also don't have much trouble fitting it in my pockets, and my workplace has a somewhat strict dress code, so it's not like it's in sweats or anything. It's pushing it a bit, but I never find it to be uncomfortably big, as though it's stretching the pocket. I do agree that I like a smaller handheld, but on the other hand, as games put more and more stuff on the screen, the harder it is to absorb visual information on a smaller screen, so I think it's a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation. Either allow games to fit more information on the screen, and make the screen bigger to accommodate, or make the screen smaller and put less on it. I don't think there's a good solution, unless every handheld game system is just a controller with the system built into it, with a jack for plugging in some AR glasses to play on, or something. Missing games: Luckily for me, none of the missing games appealed to me much anyway, so I'm not missing out, although I do feel for the fans, as my missing games I've been wanting haven't showed their faces since the GCN/NDS eras. Never really liked Prime, never liked the level design much in the DK games, and while I love 2d Mario games, I never really go into the New Super Mario series (not from a lack of enjoyment, but from not having the opportunity to give them a shot, though I just got one on Wii U second hand, so that will change soon). That said, Nintendo, if you feel like bringing back Custom Robo, or talking Fromsoft into making a new Lost Kingdoms game (just please tell them to get their crap together first, so they know how to make something that plays well again for the first time in the past nearly twenty years), I'd really appreciate it, and buy it day one. Conclusion: Yeah really agree on the lineup. Switch is really a console that I think only flourished by cannibalizing the Wii U. If not for the Wii U, I think that, in terms of software sales, Switch would've been an absolute disaster. Wii U was a great system held back by its marketing (as well as its hardware, to an extent, but not as much as many insinuate in my opinion), while Switch is a great system held back by a combination of over-design, under-implementation, poor hardware quality control, and bankrupt creativity. While I like my Switch, I think that if not for Nintendo's marketing being good enough to get lots of people to buy it, followed by Wii U era games being re-released for it, then it would've been one of the biggest crash and burns of Nintendo's history. They're just lucky that so few people bought the Wii U and played its games that they were able to pretend like old games were new ones in order to bolster the Switch's abysmal library. TLDR; Switch, while having its upsides, has largely been an unrelenting shit-show that's mostly succeeded through good marketing and games they already made that few people played, rather than individual merit as a system.
Back in the Wii U era, people COMPLAINED about the background music, the stupid mii’s, etc. Nintendo wanted the switch to feel more mature.

3:50 Eshop music is in fact hidden in the switch's files, and customised folders have already been done on the switch, but on a wonky way.
10:10 Mario fan: "We want mario odyssey 2, it has been 6 year"
Half life fan: "hold my beer"
i can fit the switch in my pocket, and they pretty much cant make it smaller because then they would have to make the controllers smaller too, and they are more than small enough already
rumble is okay but it adds that much detail I realised when my VR headset had rumble and thought “why does Nintendo never use it”
Ik it is weird
7:47 i broke my joy con after holding my switch in backpack for one day with out the case
Love the videos, man. Keep it up!!!
Dude how many people remember that 1 dungeon game on the DS where you go into that Menu or whatever and There's a clip of it in the community interactions on this video its very brief but you like have your custom meet and you could fight people like king boo into
bro that game was oddly addicting! It was so stinkin simple, yet still had a modicum of strategy to it where you were excited about what might happen after every move! I miss that game... lol
Yea its so nostalgic
The clip is at 6:28
2:11 my earphones battery ran out
My biggest complaint about the switch.
The Nintendo switch online is just like the PlayStation Plus
The IR motion cam is also in Game builder Garage
I remember the wii u commercials i was in awe frome those videos. #switchtobig
Too big, wait until he hears a out the steam deck
Games like splatoon and fortnite utilize the motion control mechanic, so those controls aren’t out of the picture, but the other 4 controls are a different story
Well, we got Mario Wonder and the announcement for DK country for switch, and Prime 4 got a trailer, (But it's still probably for switch 2)
Did you know that the home button on the right JoyCon has an LED behind it? Perfectly missed opportunity. Also #TheSwitchisAPerfectlyReasonableSizeAndIHaveNoRightTooComplain
oh wow you are at 175K! congrats, almost there. I think i mostly want themes on it, can't see why they dont add it
Man do I wish we got that Yokai watch custom controller
we got wonder now lmao
When he said *where the HELL ARE THE THEMES !?*I busted out laughing
Sideways joy cons are like new nes + half snes controller.
Steam deck vs switch size which one is bigger steam deck 7:14
Paywalling save-game backups is nothing short of unacceptable. Especially since the hardware already has expandable onboard storage. Preventing saves on the SD card is the worst kind of cash-grabbing bullshit.
If my switch ever dies and I lose all my games, I'll never buy another bit of Nintendo hardware or software again.
#SwitchTooBig the switch’s size is the reason that I got a 2DSXL
Literally predicted Mario Wonder a month before it got announced
I couldn’t agree more with the portability, I would like the switch so much more if it was just pocketable.
So if you have one that get heat stuck down in the dock i would be worried about the dock/switch.
yeah i havent had this
Content after release is amazing. More reasons to keep playing
Actually the hd rumble is pretty cool and can add to the experience. Just not enough games use it.
For kids, the half joy-con is good and is a cool option
*sideways
This was a very well done video. I had a blast watching this and Great job on the video editing. The editing on this video just flowed so well along side with the story telling.
bro went "where are the folders" when the switch litterally has folders
That aged like milk 😂 8:50
That Homebrew Channel music hits hard
Totally agree about the ickiness of Nintendo Online. I bought that dance game just to find the content was locked between an additional, subscription based, paywall. Totally feel scammed
I’m on team, the switch is too big.

TRUUUEUEEE
What ever the new consul looks like I hope they use the same cards for the Nintendo switch so that we can just put in our Nintendo switch games into it.
the part that you said I might disagree was the only part I did agree in this video, the HD Rumble is used more often than you think, maybe you could of mentioned the home button that has a light behind it. Also, it would be cool if the switch light had the 3ds circle pads so you would have to worry about stick drift when putting it in your bag without a case.
10:11 he complained about having no 3d mario in 6 years, then played bowsers fury music
Your switch is perfectly reasonable to size and I have no right to complain
6:06 I think it’s that nowadays people would be saying bad things and if there’s a kid in the sever that’s bad
8:37 most of these missing games were just recently announced on june 2024 nintendo direct!
The switch has a little theme when building up, which is the switch click animation
The thing about the size of the switch is that yes it is bigger then you would really want for a portable device but at the same time I don't do sit on my TV so I really wouldn't want it to be smaller because then it wouldn't look as good when playing the game so it's kind of one of those weird types of situations
the sensor could have made good vr games for Nintendo switch ngl
the motion controls plays a major part of the feel in splatoon, without it, the games control would just feel unnatural
“The nintendo switch is the biggest” Wii U: am I a joke to you?
The Wii U is not a portable console
10:50 YO-KAI WATCH MENTIONED 🗣️🗣️🗣️
Some of this things (not that many) have been done already
1. 2D game: Mario wonder
2….
8:33 #TheSwitchIsAWorstPossibleSizePossibleAndIHaveRightToocomplain
I used Nintendo Labo and didn’t even know the joy-con ir camera existed until I did that.
The folders are in the all software menu, labeled as "groups"
Captain N he's our hero. Going reduce pollution down to zero.
HD rumble makes good use to Beat Vibrations on Just Dance
8:32 #theswitchisaperfectlynormalsizeandihavenorighttocomplain the bigger size helps in gameplay and all you gotta do is pull out a case
Hear me out here #TheSwitchIsAPerfectlyReasonableSizeAndIHaveNoRightTooComplain
TLDR; Switch, while having its upsides, has largely been an unrelenting shit-show that's mostly succeeded through good marketing and games they already made that few people played, rather than individual merit as a system.
its a good size
One of the worst this they missed out on is they cloud make the swith blue tooth to a tv so u don’t have to use 3 cords for it to work
Remember they ported games from the nes, snes and gba.
7:22. No The virtual boy is the biggest
I personally think the size of the switch great because I have issues with small screens, and my phone gives me headaches because it’s tiny
