    I guess only about 3/4 of the bushings are really needed. If you crack them don’t worry. The same for the bearings. Crushed races don’t hinder movement. I guess I have been lied to for years.

    I wonder why they beat the pins in, when there's a hydraulic press there?

    • @ukpkmkk_2
      @ukpkmkk_2 2 года назад

      I don’t know for sure but i can only assume that they don’t want to 1. allign that axle underneath the press and 2. overstress the joints.. because they’re weaker than the rest of the axle and can’t take the constant stress of a hydraulic press or else they would bend/break if there was too much friction or the axle wasn’t alligned perfectly vertically under the press.. bare in mind that a Hammer not only provides pressure but vibrations too, which reduce friction by micro-wiggling the pin in.

    • @christiannoble5549
      @christiannoble5549 2 года назад +3

      It's the same reason they don't use power feed on the lathe in such videos. They never learned it properly how to do the jobs, they watch other guys do it. It probably didn't even occur to them they could do it with the press

    • @ukpkmkk_2
      @ukpkmkk_2 2 года назад +2

      @@christiannoble5549 dude, just because they're piss poor doesn't mean they are cavemen.. They're some of the most crafty people out there.. Not to mention that they use the press on the exact same part during the same process so it can't just "not occur to them"
      They probably don't press it because of sticky friction or 'sticktion'.. Hammering it causes less sticktion which transfers less stress from the pin to the part..
      It's like pulling a paper under an upside down bottle.. If you do it fast enough the bottle doesn't drag or tip over and the paper is pulled cleanly from underneath. Because the fast movement cancels sticktion and most of friction, and the vibrations help too..
      Now they probably won't be able to explain it scientifically to you but I'm sure they'd be familiar with the concept.

    • @christiannoble5549
      @christiannoble5549 2 года назад +4

      @@ukpkmkk_2 Nah mate, I did 100s of such joints. A press does it in one continous motion, hammering it causes it to get cought in the bronze bearing sometimes and takes much more effort...
